Back in August when this show was first announced it caused much criticism due to being one of two BL stories that had been bought for a live series adaptation but was then rumoured to have been straightwashed by its production company. This came as quite a surprise since the company concerned, KT Alpha, were already well established in the Korean BL field, having been the content rights distributer for ‘Semantic Error’, ‘Love Class’, ‘A Shoulder To Cry On’, and ‘Love Class 2’. Based on the BL manwha 'Love Supremacy Zone' by Hwacha (aka Freight Car), and originally registered to be released with that title, fears were finally confirmed when the show's genre was officially submitted as 'teen bromance' instead of BL. This caused more online condemnation with a groundswell of people claiming they were intending to boycott the show. A few weeks later, KT Alpha decided to re-register the series under the new name 'Love for Love's Sake' and reclassify its genre as BL. Whether this turns out to be a veiled case of damage limitation on the part of the company, with a minimum of lip-service being paid to its new classification, only time will tell.
It stars Lee Tae-vin and Cha Ju-wan as the central couple Tae Myung Ha and Cha Yeo Woon, with support from Oh Min-su and Cha Woon-ki (from MNET’s Boys Planet) as Cheon Sang Won (son from a rich family who causes drama and tension between Myung Ha and Yeo Woon), and Ahn Kyung Hoon (an introverted student who becomes Myung Ha’s helper). The series has been directed by Kim Gyun-ah.
Synopsis: "Tae Myung-ha is suddenly dropped into “Love for Love’s Sake” a game that was based on a novel written by a senior at his school. Although the setting is strangely similar to reality, Myung-ha, a 29-year-old, has inexplicably become a 19-year-old student and has been given a mission - he has to make a character in the novel, Cha Yeo-woon happy, within 300 days, otherwise he will receive a death penalty. Cha Yeo-woon is Tae Myung-ha’s favourite and has left a deep impression on him. But it was the worst of the worst times in his life when Tae Myung-ha was 19 years old. How is he supposed to make Cha Yeo-woon happy when he himself wasn’t happy at that age? Will he be able to treasure his favourite and fulfill his mission?"
