Jenny Han has been adding an LGBTQ+ presence into the screen adaptations of her books, and this latest effort is the most inclusive yet. Contributing in one way to this is main cast member Anthony Keyvan (probably best known as Rahim from Love, Victor) as the half-Iranian, half-Filipino gay best friend of the title character, Quincy "Q" Shabazian. He has a crush on another student at the Korean International School of Seoul, the half-French and half-Greek Florian (recurring cast member Théo Augier). Their relationship develops over the course of the first season, in addition to other LGBTQ+ characters/storylines. Yes, Q is very much the stock GBF (although they try to switch things up a little by making him a hunky athlete) and his airtime corresponds to that. There are only a handful (maybe 4?) of short scenes which are focused on Q/Florian alone.

Renewed for season 2. Hopefully more screentime for the gays.

The show has only just begun production on season 2 so I guess we won't see it on our screens until next year. Anthony Keyvan is back as Q, not sure if Théo will return too as Florian, or Q gets a new love interest. https://www.instagram.com/p/C6MN2umuDJn
