The Girl in the Mirror (English title) or Alma (Spanish title) is a Spanish Netflix show with a gay storyline. The gay characters are named Martin and Bruno. Since it's from Spain you can expect it to be a well done storyline, where the gays actually get to kiss and have sex. There's even some nudity! Highlight to read (minor spoiler): I hated the plot twist towards the end though.

I saw this and really liked it. It also has a rather unusual plot structure though and a cliffhanger ending.

I also like the show, in general. Maybe if someone only for the gay story part, wants to watch it, and dont like msyteryhorror, than maybe they have not so much joy to watch it.
It is crazy how much fear, horror you can produce with simple lightning and fog and a good history mythology. Good Show.

It's only deemed acceptable for gay people to use the slur (personally, I would like to see it retired, not part of a movement to "reclaim" the word from bigots). So I would guess he is an out actor. If it was just a joke, he would be canceled.
Then again, who knows? Standards may have dropped. Danny Walters just made a big comeback as Keanu to EastEnders. He was happily throwing around homophobic slurs (only a couple of years before he graced the cover of a gay magazine in his underwear, lying about being a steadfast ally of the LGBTQ+ community) but because it predated his first EE stint, we were told to forget it. But watching his character face off with the resident gay Ben Mitchell makes my skin crawl. Okay, the show doesn't feel it needs to address the crap he pulled pre-employment, but at the very least can we NOT have this guy rival and gain the upper hand on the gay character?

I am shocked to see this is actually getting a second season?! Pol Monen (Bruno) posted an insta story, which led me to Javier Gallardo, who posted that he was traveling to Asturias, where season 1 was filmed. He also posted some behind the scenes with Pol. I might be wrong, but that's what it looks like. This is very confusing and I have so many questions. Is the previous actor playing Martin not returning? It certainly doesn't look like it. In the new pic of the characters it looks like he will play Martin? Or at least be Bruno's love interest?

Do you mean Javier Gallardo is recast as Martin? Thank you! I assumed the show was canceled when they wouldn't say anything about it for more than a year. I'm shocked it was renewed. I know it takes less for foreign shows to be renewed compared to their American counterparts though. Maybe that's why. I also wonder if the SAG strike had anything to do with it? They have trouble producing American shows these days, so they might as well produce for foreign shows that won't be affected by the strike. Anyways, it looks like Martin has been recast, and Javier Gallardo is playing him now. If that's true then I'm sad the previous actor is not returning, especially after coming out. Would be nice to have gay actors playing gay characters for once.

I think the show was a hit in Spain.
Sometimes with Netflix it feels that you need to have an interenational success to be renewed which is absurd. If the show does well in the home country (and a couple of more countries) and it's not expensive there's no reason to not renew it.
And about slurs, i think Spain is way different (and south america too) from anglosaxon countries. The slur is not derogative in all circumstances and there are a lot of gays who used it regularly (which i don't like).
And i find curious that there were recent homophobic chants on spanish soccer league with little fanfare maybe because the players and coach insulted were supposed straight

Are you sure that you are not mistaking pictures and stories from the filming of season 1? Javier Gallardo was already in the 1st season as a student who died later in the season (which would explain his behind-the-scenes picture with Pol). He is credited on IMDB for 5 episodes in the 1st season.
Would be really weird to recast Matin with an actor that was already playing a role in the first season. Can't seem to find any info about the show being renewed. I don't think It happening.

He said he was traveling to Asturias. Maybe it's to reprise his original role though. What makes me confused is the fact that Javier Morgade, who originally played Martin, has not posted anything about filming new scenes. This doesn't have to mean he isn't though, but it might. All I know is Pol Monen as Bruno is back. And whether Martin is back (played by Javier Morgade or someone else) is not clear at this moment. Martin is integral to the story. It would be a shame if he isn't in the second season. It's not just about the gay storyline either, though I must admit the gay storyline is what got me watching. I really want there to be a gay couple in season 2.

I must apologize, I tried to look online to see if the show had been renewed and can't find any news of season 2. I may have confused it with Holy Family, which has been renewed.

That makes a lot more sense as I don't think the show has been renwed, which is a shame. I really liked the show a lot. Oh well...
