Have someone watched it?
It is with Neil Patrick Harris, and written from Darren Star.
I like, nonsense, I love both men.
Here is the trailer
I liked the first half ot the season, so far, it has really something Barny Memories moments. It is a mix of Gay version of Sex and the City and How I met your mother.
But had Neil Patrick Harris a facelift, in some scenes it looks like his faceskin is stretched to far to both side of his ears, especially the eyebrows, looks unnaturaly, sometimes.
But the news about the cancelation of First Kill, I dont get my hopes to much up, that it gives a second season. It is crazy sometimes, what gets a second season und what shows not. Nearly all shows that I liked get canceled.

I've seen an episode and a half. It's watchable (although the reviews have been very mixed). It's about older guys and that's not a demographic that usually draws large audiences, but it's fine. I think if I have one criticism, it's that they've made Tuc Watkins' character so humourless and unlikeable. I've been a fan of the actor throughout the years, but can't really say I like him in this.

I wasn't sure I would like this show, but I actually liked it a lot. Sad it didn't get a second season, but I'm not surprised. It didn't really appeal to a wide audience.

Horrid. It was one of the best shows of 2021. Netflix really has fucked the gays this year, hasn't it? I was really looking forward to seeing the Second season!

Like I said, it was clear, from the start, with the knowledge, how Netflix lately act, that there will no other Season, than the First One.

Well, that's not a surprise. The show was a faliure in all senses for Netflix. It didn't have good reviews and the number of hours was low. The only thing it could save it if it was a cheap show

The problem is with Netflix nowadays. They thinks sometimes a good cast, one famous cast member, like Neal Patrick Harris should be enough, to get an audience. But that is not true. In the End, all must fit together, the Story, the cast, the story telling, all must be entertaining enough for a wide audience, or like you said it must be cheap, with a no name cast, all models, which not really paid that well.

I felt the cast was great, the storytelling too. Was it entertaining for a wide audience? It was for me. Too bad. It was a story I wanted to see continued. It was fun and cute.

I think more for an older audience, designed, not for a huge age range. What was missing was a side story a Twink with a sugar daddy for example, that maybe really felt in love with the daddy. Or also many thought that the character of Tuc Watkins, was terrible written, to bad, in the way, that this was a nogo for many, because they did not want, like that Tuc Watkins was the bad guy.

The cancelation does not come as a surprise to me either. I agree with the comments that it probably did not manage to capture the right audience age range. I still remember how, no matter what overall ratings were, the best indicator of a show's viability to its producers was the viewership in the 20s-30s age range. This show didn't really make an appeal to connect with that age range; they seem to have hoped solely for middle-aged audiences who would identify with NPH's struggle of starting afresh after the end of a long-term partnership. The show also seemed to occupy this weird halfway space where it never quite determined what its genre was, or how "sexy" they could make the show. (The latter is a Netflix problem generally, I see shows where the violence/gore/profanity is dialed up to 100, but sex/nudity is very tame.)
It's a shame to see a NPH vehicle canceled, but for me the bigger loss was Half-Bad. Netflix has more gay-centric programming coming up this year, but I'm hesitant to become invested since their model now is to cull first and analyze later.

Not surprised about the cancellation, considering the lack of news. Was hoping the cheaper cost of production would save it. Maybe the cost of having NPH was too much?

There's a thing that rarely is talked but it's very important for Netflix to renew the shows and it's the percentage of people who watch the show till the end.
Midnight club fans complained that their show did better than Heartstopper in the usual metrics (Heartstopper has only 6 episodes of half an hour each other so it's going to do not so well in the usual number of hours viewership) but the truth is only a 40% of the people who started to watch Midnight club finished it meanwhile 72% of the people who watched Heartopper finished it, which it shows a good probability that these people watch a second season.
Some of the canceled shows like 1899 had a very poor percentage (32%) of viewers who watched all the episodes.
I had the impression Uncoupled didn't do well in any of the metrics and it didn't had good reviews either

That's completely been obscured when they talk about how many millions of hours watched. In the past, TV ratings would tell us how many millions watched each episode, and we could compare that, say, 10 million watched the pilot but only 2 mil watched the season finale - an 80% drop.

Thank god at least one gay-led series was saved this year! Must be the star appeal of Neil Patrick Harris. It helps having a famous man to promo a show.

Interestingly they seem to have made a swap with Ripley, a new adaptation of The Talented Mr Ripley, led by Andrew Scott in the title role. The latter was developed for Showtime but will now air on Netflix.
