This is based on the critically-acclaimed memoir of the same name by openly gay former NHS (National Health Service) doctor Adam Kay, who is played here by out actor Ben Whishaw. I don't think we currently have any other show on British telly that is led by gay men.
The show consists of 8 episodes and will premiere on 8 February (on BBC One, and on AMC in the US later this year).

Oh, I wouldn't have found this without this board, cheers. The gay doctor main character is not a superior genius like I would expect in American medical dramas. The series seems to aim for a more realistic depiction of what it's like to work in a hospital. It has some humour, but it's primarily a drama judging by the first episode.

I suspect that's because it's based on the autobiographical story of a former doctor himself. (He eventually quit his job.)
