Based (very loosely) on the novel 'My Boyfriend is the President', which is the title the series is known by in Thailand, this show was given a major overhaul by the scriptwriting team to deliberately turn it into a parody of the type of school/university series that was prevalent in the early days of BL's. The tropes we were all expecting to see were made OTT or totally failed to produce the usual romantic outcome; meta jokes were introduced and the customary sound effects of those early BL's were brought back with a comic vengeance; all to give the audience the feeling that they were in on the joke. Also, in the early draft of the story, Phat (Chinzhilla's drummer) was going to be paired off with another character due to be played by Mick Metas (younger brother of Win Metawin) but that ended up being dropped after he was accepted into a real-life exchange program and moved abroad. Still, as we all know, this series has blown away everyone's low expectations and become a huge success for GMMTV and first-time-main-director, Au Kornprom.


 

Synopsis: "Student body president Tinn has a secret crush on Gun, the head of the music club and lead singer of the middling band Chinzilla. The son of the principle, Tinn is instructed to axe any clubs that don't boost their school's reputation. The music club tops that list and Tinn is therefore Gun's number one enemy. To make matters worse, Sound, the club's newest member is talented and attractive, and bonds immediately with Gun. How can Tinn compete with that? However, Tinn still has hope since Chinzilla has a rule that band members aren't permitted to date until they win the Hot Wave Music Contest, so he vows to do whatever it takes to help them do just that. Gun, also desperate to save his club, pledges servitude to Tinn. How will this intricate, tangled story end?"

In preparation for the series debut a new BTS documentary about the series was due to screen today. Earlier a number of 3 minute snippets without subs appeared, and although I was expecting something similar to what we got for previous shows like 'The Eclipse' and 'Vice Versa' I went ahead and added them in this post, thinking that was all we were going to get. However, GMMTV have now stitched those same clips together, added more footage and English subs to give us a much better documentary show. I've replaced the earlier clips with these new versions:

The above BTS video for Episode 4 was amongst the clips that mysteriously lost their subtitles yesterday.

The other shows have now had their subs restored so hopefully it won't be long until this BTS video does too. I hope so, as I enjoyed Mark's little tale of how fishy he thought it was that the scene where Tinn lifted up Gun to retrieve his poster from the tree needed so many retakes and believed it was really just because Gemini kept wanting to grab Fourth and cling on to him for real.

He's such a shipper!
