Come Out - LGBT Việt Nam has started a new series - Mother Welf. The first episode has English subtitles.
I will give them some credit - it is refreshing to have a nice kiss right near the start!

This is actually the second season of 'Monster in Law'. When the trailer for this came out a week ago I went to have a look at the first season which I had never seen before. I have to say it wasn't my cup of tea at all and I had to let it go after watching the first few installments. It's a sit-com with the original premise of a mother expecting her son to come back home from America with his new bride but the bride turns out to be a man. The mother does not approve and sets out to make their lives complicated. From what I saw it was full of stereotypical tropes for cheap laughs but what put me off the most was the most intrusive canned laughter ever which just seemed to be added whenever there was a lull in the soundtrack.
This second series seems to have a slightly larger budget but I don't see it improving any. The trailer didn't look like it was going to rise much above the same slapstick as the first and I still don't know why the son insists on introducing his bf as his wife to everyone. Maybe that was explained in a later episode than I reached. I think in this second series the guys are going to be plagued by a precocious child who will cause the same sort of mischief that the mother originally did.
On the plus side the main couple did seem quite affectionate to each other in some scenes but they only ever gave each other pecks and small hugs, but in a way I wouldn't really expect anything more from the type of show it is.

That would be why the guys looked so familiar. I had it listed in my notes as "Mother and Male Daughter-in-law" from one of GCINEE's subbing efforts.

It's not finished but they have shut down production for a while. No reason given. All they have said is that it should be back later in the year.

I caught up with this show last night as well - it is continuation of the wacky relationships of a family that are 3 parts comedy and 3 parts drama (and some times its a bit hard to tell which they are going for). I always liked the relationship between Jackie and Cuong - and am disappointed that they have had some wrenches thrown in to it by a lot of miscommunication.
I kind of wish they hadn't saddled the two of them with an adopted daughter - especially one that is so unlikeable.
Things I liked so far:
1. the growing respect for each other between Jackie and his step-mother. 2. Cuong's sister and the boyfriend who won't break up with her - I think his name was Kang. The actor who plays Kang was in Comet, I Love You - he was adorable back then, but has really grown into a very handsome guy (and his character interacted with Jackie's character a lot in that show - If I remember, Jackie played a ghost stuck in the school who basically mentors the boy - sadly my memories of the show are very much faded).
