A young man who was wrongly convicted and imprisoned for 18 years seeks revenge for his sister's murder. There's a prominent gay love scene in the trailer, and it looks like it involves the main character (the younger version of whom appears to be played by Leo Deluglio, who played gay in La Dona). Assuming I'm not imagining things, this could be one of the rare series with a queer male lead.
The Mexican series arrives on Netflix next month, March 24th.

Just finished watching this. The gay content was better than I expected although not great - a number of tired, old tropes were repeated. God bless whoever convinced Eugenio Siller to play this role; he is so handsome and let's just say his statuesque physique is shown off to great effect in a couple of scenes.
Looks like they already filmed a second season so we don't need to worry about the show ending on the cliffhanger of season 1. (They revealed who the killer was but introduced a new mystery at the end.) Unfortunately, the brief flash of the gay character shown in the season 2 preview was one of the aforementioned tropes, which was particularly egregious given the character's consistent sexuality throughout season 1.

The Main Character is LGBTQ?

The Main Character is LGBTQ? No, sadly not. That was a mistake on my part. The gay character Jose Maria (nicknamed "Chema" - played by Eugenio Siller as an adult and by out actor Polo Morin in his younger days) is the brother of the lead Alex's best friend Rodolfo. Chema hits on Alex when they were younger, but Alex gently lets him down and accepts him for who he is. In the present day, Chema has a live-in partner Lorenzo (Luis Roberto Guzman) and they're planning to have a baby with a surrogate, but face opposition from Chema's incredibly homophobic parents. Chema's sister Elisa (who goes on to date Alex) is very supportive and their brother Rodolfo (who dated Alex's sister - the murdered Sara from the title) seems quietly accepting but he doesn't stick up for Chema either. (Then again, Rodolfo doesn't stick up for anyone, including himself.)

Well, it seems Chema is the only member of the family Alex doesn't hate. At least is the only one he doesn't threaten in the video of 14 minutes they uploaded to youtube

It was pretty obvious that season 2 was already filmed and I imagined they would release it in about 6 months or so, but it's even sooner than I thought. Season 2 debuts on May 19th.

A season 2 trailer (not going to give away spoilers but I'll just say you probably won't be thrilled with the elements in Chema's story).

Yeah I'm not thrilled about that - AT ALL. I mean, Chema is in his late 30s and always been gay. It makes zero sense for him to succumb to a woman's seduction. He is incredibly good-looking, not to mention wealthy; he could easily land any guy in a gay club if he's desperate for a BJ.

Some thoughts on season 2. If I'm going to grade the show on magical sexuality changing, then they didn't really do much - using other people for sex when he was a teenager infatuated with Alex wasn't a surprise, and the few encounters he had with Clara here were based on his pining for Lorenzo. However, there was NO reason in the story for him to be manipulated into sex with her. He and Lorenzo had already broken up, and the ultimate fate of Lorenzo and Clara and the baby (dead, dead...dead!) really had no basis in the sexual encounters. Just bizarre, bad writing.
While I know this was not a happy show for most of the characters involved, which is why I don't want to run to the homophobia well, the ending for Chema seemed particularly miserable, and cast a pall over what should have been on paper, more of a melodrama along the lines of Dynasty or other froth with a modern edge.
Performances aside (Luis Robert Guzman was particularly strong, and for all of Chema's screwups and lack of backbone, Eugenio Siller's beautiful, sad eyes drew you in every time - and Guzman and Siller still had such amazing chemistry to the end), I thought the whole story was a lot of miserable, grimdark trash, and I regret watching it. The most positive aspect was Siller's absolutely killer ass - I know that the last scene in prison was intended to be heartbreaking, but all I could think was the director was letting us see a perfect view of those glorious cheeks one last time as some form of apology.

Just caught up with this season and I agree with everything you said carld2 (especially about Eugenio Siller's butt - I think that is what people mean when they refer to something being "carved from marble"). I just cannot comprehend who thought that would be a good ending to Chema's story (assuming the show isn't renewed). Yes he promised to repay Alex a favour for covering up Moncho's death - but with him confessing to that killing, what reason was there to still repay a favour? And on top of that, he confesses to another murder - I get that he felt depressed after losing his fiance and baby (and really, why kill her too?) so he felt he could throw his life away. But it makes zero sense for him to take the fall for Abel's death - why not simply blame it on Sara? After all, they have a tape of her being pursued by the dead man so there's a good case to say she killed him in self-defense. End of story. No need to find another fall guy. (In fact, they could also say Lorenzo killed Moncho and close that case, too.) And why would the cops even believe Chema killed Abel - what reason was there? Alex and Chema's sister are both worthless for making Chema confess. And that final moment - Chema looking back and seeing young Alex - was just pathetic. I see it is quite popular at the moment and they leave enough wriggle room for a third season, but I think they did write it with the idea that this would be the end. And it sucks, massively, if it is.

SPOILERS AHEAD
Watched season 2 today... yikes. Where to even start. I'll give the show an A+ for showing nudity and gay sex. I give them an F for killing anorher gay character. Bury your gays in unforgivable. Not only that, but the other gay character ended up in prison. Great ending to the gay storyline. All the main straight characters lived happily ever after except the gay ones. Fuck this shit. It's homohobic and offensive. NOT happy with that finale. Why can't gay characters get happy endings?
The only saving grace was the nudity and gay sex. Rest of this show was shit. I just hope, since it was so popular, that more showrunners will have the balls to add gay characters and gay storylines in the future.

So apparently there was a notice at the end of season 2 which announced a third season is on the way?

So this ended today. Boy was it ever a mess. Any hope of them redeeming the steady deterioration in gay representation of season 2 went out the window. More misery piled on Chema. He gets raped, twice, in prison. When he gets out, he decides he doesn't want to be gay anymore and allows his homophobic mother to persuade him to enroll for conversion therapy. He's raped again, this time by a woman. But maybe it's all karma for him because we learn that the reason he's always felt he owes Alex something is because, as a teen, he drugged Alex and then molested him while unconscious. For those keeping score, that's 4 nonconsensual sex scenes involving the gay character, in one of which he's the perpetrator. There are no positive/affirming gay sex scenes. Chema ends the series alone, apparently still in love with Alex despite him being in a relationship with Chema's sister.
