Wow, those claps for Olivia winning sure were anemic. Ouch. Even Olli could fake it. I guess her reputation is well-known amongst the pub patrons. ;D

Yeah, but i can't help but think he might have regretted letting her go that far... and how much do we want to wager that Olli made sure to stake his claim after they both shuffled off to bed? Christian seemed a lot more enthusiastic talking about boxing with her than he did once she started hurling herself at him. Remember that he hasn't liked her very much historically and it's unclear if he would have actually done even back when he was "straight". He retreated to bed pretty quickly when she started getting hard to manage. I'd say that yes, they probably had some pretty hot sex once they were alone. Olli seems to be handling the closet thing okay, but inside that flat Christian is his.

Word! He hightailed it out of there as soon as Olivia became a boozy bosomy bombshell!

Olli seems to be handling the closet thing okay, but inside that flat Christian is his. I wasn't worried cause while Christian was obviously uncomfortable with Olivia's flirting, he was handling the situation mostly fine and he did do the quick retreat once she got more physically aggressive. I think if Olivia had gone further in her attempts to woo Christian, I think that Olli would have stepped in then and said something to her though I don't think he would have told her Christian was his Mann, just something that would have stopped her from humiliating herself in trying to seduce Christian. I think the reason Christian wasn't actually harsh with Olivia and retreated to bed instead of shutting her down hard is because he knows that she is important to Olli. I really like that Christian was obviously considering Olli's feelings on the matter in how he responded to Olivia's flirting. Olivia can obviously be a pain, but she's important to Olli and that means something to Christian.

First of all, Christian is quite a good presenter, he should host some show. And he's so hot when speaking in English! I'll be away for some days in a few hours, so I'll enjoy tomorrow's episode next week. Bye bye everybody! A big kiss! Really? I couldn't stop laughing at his presenting skills: the only thing I could think was 'Don't ever try to make a career out of that Christian!' ;D *You won't read this in time I think, but I hope you have a safe trip! * PS. LOL at the monkey/ape comments... ;D

I think one of the cutest things in this episode was in the background. When the whole Lydia/Sebastian/Gregor drama is in the foreground, Olli is whispering in Christian's ear in the background. *g*
I only got that after rewatching.

He had enthusiam but it kind of reminded me of those game show hosts of the early 80s. The primatologist in me is opting out of the ape and monkey conversation.

Something I didn't understand:
Christian decides to have a drink, so Olivia doesn't get suspicious. Olli says about us, and Christian says "Old married couple.." but then doesn't sound too bad..
I wasn't sure whether he meant that it wouldn't be bad that they were an Old married couple, or whether drinking with her wouldn't be too bad. I also wasn't sure whether Christian was concerned that she'd think they were a couple, or an old stuffy couple, more. I'm hoping it was the latter as opposed to the former rather, and it felt that way, but it could be read either way.

beof, I do think that Christian was looking to cover. I think the "wouldn't be too bad" thing was a reflection of the fact that Christian has never really liked Olivia and isn't very enthusiastic about having her around.
The phrase "old married couple" was also used by Lars to describe Christian and Olli to Judith when she was looking to move into the flat share. Based on that, and on the way the boys interact, she assumed that they were a couple, even though they weren't yet at that point. So maybe Christian is sensitive to those words?
Even though she got off to a good start, being knowledgeable about boxing, Olivia quickly started to irritate Christian by getting drunk and hitting on him, which was more than he bargained for when he agreed to this little champagne party.

I remember the frustration of JP and Craig when JP was Craig's dirty little secret, in private all hunky dory, outside, not so much. Granted Craig had a girlfriend, but still. The frustration from JP was so palpable I felt it for the months, and it almost put me off honestly, knowing how it would feel to be in that position.
I really hope that the boxing promoter / Judith beard / coming out story wraps up in a better fashion than the JP/Craig story did. Anguish and drama are absolutely needed for a compelling story, but dump it onto a story in giant spades and from my point of view it just creates so much tension in the viewer that it can't really be enjoyed as much.
(My partner and I started learning German last night. We're up to "hello, how are you. I'm good thanks / I'm not so good. Bye!" Hopefully I'll be able to understand them by the time they're either getting married, or one of them's cheating, or one of them kills the other and buries him under the patio, however it plays out)

Christian's main worry appears to be Gregor. His brother is the only family he has and Christian is uncertain how Gregor will deal with it. He seems less worried about other people, except for ones that might leak it to Gregor.
However, boxing brings a new element into the problem. It's no secrets that the sporting world is not friendly to bi/gay people so his sudden entry into a boxing career could pose a real problem for Christian as a man in a relationship with another man.
At least that's not as tired as some closet storylines out there. Athletes still have a legitimate problem with being out to face.
I sympathize with the linguistics thing. Personally I need to break out the Rosetta Stone CD's that I bought when I first started doing business in Germany and take another crack at them. I didn't make much headway before, and the fact that my German business colleagues spoke far better English than I would ever speak German kind of resulted in my becoming disheartened at trying.
It's so embarrassing. This is what American culture does to us. My grandfather could speak English, Polish and German. I can only speak English and scraps of Spanish. But it really does line up with a joke I once heard:
If you speak three languages you're said to be "trilingual".
If you speak two languages you're said to be "bilingual".
If you speak only one language you're said to be "American".

It's the same being from Britain too. Everyone just speaks English. I do have a half decent knowledge of Welsh, so I could survive (just) in Bangor. I'm trying to learn it again though, at the same time as the German.. sigh.

If you speak only one language you're said to be "American". I am in Cali, so you really have to be bilingual but that joke is funny in a sad way. I can't say how many Americans I have seen who simply talk louder when they come across someone who doesn't speak English as if increasing the volume will suddenly help that person understand what is being said to them.

I guess it's one thing having Roman in AWZ out (as a pro figure skater) and other pulling it off in a sport like boxing. I can't really imagine Christian outhing himself at the club and still being able to pursue a pro career in boxing. Ok, this is a soap opera so anything is possible, even the totaly crazy: 'Christian founds a Gay Boxers United club and Olli will become a manger' storyline. That doesn't mean I wouldn't possibly like it. *lol* I am a sucker for the totally cliché 'win it all despite of all obstacles' stories. I mean, both the trophy and the love of your life, of course. I come from sports rps fandoms.

Yeah, I aware of that. That was tough. :/
I meant more the influence on the sporting career the move could possibly have (the injury Roman got from being gaybashed aside). I think there's still difference between a sport like figure skating and such as football (soccer) or boxing.

And wasn't Roman in the closet, even to his friends at the beginning of the show? And only came out when Anette caught him kissing Andrew?
