This French show is on Netflix and it should be available worldwide with dubs and subs.
There is one main-ish gay character and there's a romance at some point (not at the heart of the show).

Wikipedia says : Captain Laurene Weiss is the head of the Gendarmerie (country police) of her hometown of Villefranche, a small, isolated, fictional town amidst a 50,000-acre forest in the mountains. When the body if a dead woman is found hanged from a strange tree, Prosecutor Franck Siriano arrives to learn why the town's murder rate is now six times the national average and its population continues to dwindle, as well as investigate Laurene's past.
I loved the show, binged it over a weekend. Loved the gay character, and how there's basically no homophobia. Countryside doesn't mean bigots and that's nice. The romance isn't that big but they're cute. I hope there's a season 3.
