Based on their latest Instagram post, it will be the same cast, not a new one for Season 4. Ander and Omar are both still on the show, not sure about Valerio. (Obviously Polo is dead.) http://instagram.com/p/CAfoVCnlROM

I doubt it.
Dario Madrona has previous experience in how complicated is the transition in these kind of shows. You can't go with an entire new cast and expect people to keep interest, so he did what he had to do, he kept a good part of the characters people care about and he'll introduce several new characters (like he did in seasons 2 and 3).
The final of the season 3 it's quite clear that those six character were going to remain there

i would like the continuity, as i feel like there were some loose ends in terms of character progression for the reminder of the cast that had to repeat the final year.

Yep, a whole sale replacement of the cast never turned out well. The only show that did it somewhat successfully was Skins. And that was only with the first wholesale replacement for series 3/4 (It was still not as popular as series 1/2, but mostly maintained the audience). The second replacement for series 5/6 didn't go nearly as well...

They announced four new cast members for the new season, 2 guys and 2 girls. I'm just going to put up the 2 guys, Manu Rios and Pol Granch. No idea if either character (or actor) is part of the queer community. If you swipe left on Manu's pic, you can see the full regular cast photo, including the returning characters. http://instagram.com/p/CC3i1V1ibNp http://instagram.com/p/CC3gW9cBVzE

They really should have just ended it last season. Hope there won't be another death, way too many people die on that show already, it is starting to feel like Riverdale

Hope there won't be another death, way too many people die on that show already, it is starting to feel like Riverdale I'm also skeptical about what the story for season 4 will be, but I don't agree that way too many people died on this show. Only two people died right, one each in season 1 and season 3 - no one died in season 2. Riverdale has had at least half a dozen deaths (but none of them are main characters except Archie's dad Fred, and that was only because the actor died in real life). 13RW had twice as many people die in its first 3 seasons.

I'm skeptical too. I'm not too fond of the new cast. Maybe i'm old fashioned but frankly if you hire a social media star and a talent show winner both with almost zero experience in acting i get suspicious of what you want to show.
People are quite harsh about the cast on twitter. Some of the heavy hitters left the show, and frankly i prefer an unknown like the woman who plays Rebeka who is able to elevate her character.
Manu Ríos is very good looking, but looks rarely make a character interesting. I suppose he is bisexual, i read a recent interview and he was questioned about his first celebrity crush (it was a woman but i don't remember who right now) and his last crush (and he said Harry Styles)

Yah, all filming is going to hit corvid19 risk nowadays, especially when you have such a large cast and crew. Wonder if this basically kills off large budget films that have crews in the hundreds

Seem like Manu Rios will play a love rival for Ander/Omar. While I am happy they are adding another LGBT character, I really don't think a love rival is needed, as there is already enough drama between them to last S4 where they will hopefully graduate. justinate: While it obviously isn't as many deaths as other shows, I feel like another murder mystery will just be rethreading old plotlines at this point. Also, considering the previous new cast additions hasn't been too popular and they also had several cast departures, they are running low on characters to murder that would still be impactful. The new characters this season would be too new to kill off as the audience haven't bonded with them yet. The new addition from last season was never that popular, so wouldn't be impactful enough. That really leaves the original cast, which is already depleting with every season.

To be fair, the murder (which was a very important part of season 1) was not what made the show work.
And maybe Omar and Ander doesn't need more drama, but i'm quite happy that Manu plays a gay character. I think the intention is to continue the show for a while, and i doubt Omar and Aron will be there for another season, so maybe it's a good idea to have a new gay character

That really leaves the original cast, which is already depleting with every season. I agree that another murder mystery would be a retread, especially when a significant number of characters from Season 1 are present. They've spent three years embroiled in murder mysteries and season 3 pretty much resolved it with the death of Season 1's killer. Yes, Polo's own killer escaped justice at the end of season 3 (and worse yet, she murdered him for no good reason and profited off it with the scholarship funded by his parents!!!) but she is not going to be part of season 4, so any mystery in the new season doesn't have that link to the string of crimes that began with the show. But the limitation that the show has to work with is that the first three seasons have all revolved around a murder, disappearance and murder again. So viewers probably have come to expect some sort of violent crime to be committed at the beginning of the season and the rest of the season spent unraveling it. I am not sure why they chose to write out the new characters introduced in season 2/3. Certainly, the newbies in season 3 had no chance to establish themselves before they were written out, within the same season itself - so before they could even get any audience feedback. Introducing new characters, while keeping on the old ones to lend some familiarity, is the oldest trick in the book but it seems like they have squandered seasons 2 and 3. Can the audience really warm to newbies introduced in season 4 and sustain season 5 once the entire old guard departs, as I presume they will, at the end of season 4? Anyway, I'm okay with a spoiler being introduced for Ander and Omar's relationship. Last season showed they were not really on solid ground. I'm just glad we still have gay characters and gay stories being told four seasons in - I was afraid that, by now, they would be axed to bring in queer female or trans characters instead, since too many shows believe the only way to introduce new LGBTQ+ characters is to get rid of the ones that were there before. God forbid gay men, lesbians and trans people co-exists on the same cast! And, on a purely shallow note, I'm so glad Miguel Bernardeau is still part of the cast. He is so beautiful. With Nadia gone, is it not time for him to find a new girl and drop trou again?

When you have a show based around doing a giant mystery each season, you feel forced to continue that in the future. After all, when you have a working formula, why change it. I already mentioned the lack of core characters to "kill", so I won't mention it further. I guess an alternative to the usual murder is some kind of giant theft? Samual and Omar has always been poor. Ander is just the son of the principal. Guzman's family lost a lot of their money in S1. A heist would be a great mystery to resolve where there are motives for just about all the characters.
I can't blame them entirely for squandering the S2 and S3. They clearly tried to introduced new characters each season, it just disappointing that none of the new characters caught on. I agree with you that the expectation is that the core cast will be leaving at the end of S4 unless they do S4 for fall semester and S5 for spring semester. At this point, they have to hope that the S4 new characters catch on, they follow the core cast to university, or they just end the show after this final season. Their biggest problem is they have to give the S4 characters time to bond with the audience, but not too much that it feel like they are force-feeding the characters to the audience (see Anni from 13 Reasons Why).

I don't know, i think Elite could work perfectly without the murder mystery.

We know Manu will be part of season 5, too. I don't know if it means anything, but he is pictured with a new male character introduced in season 5, played by Andre Lamoglia. Andre posted this on his Instagram (swipe to see second pic with Manu). http://instagram.com/p/COGgzIEMO_l

I don't know what to think about the Omar and Ander situation for S5 It was announced Omar wouldn't be in S5 and Ander would be but now Omar was seen on set and Ander wasn't at all.
