Frankly when you pissed off a good part of you potential audience just before the show started it's never a good sign

I'm honestly not really surprised it got cancelled. It just seemed like one of those shows that wouldn't last long even though I was enjoying it.

Glad this homophobic show got cancelled. Didn't watch a single minute of it after they straightwashed the main character.

There's an article today on a spanish paper about cancelled shows nobody will miss. Rise made the list.
The promotion was a total disaster, if you changed the sexual orientation of your main character (based on a real life person) you should have a way better excuse. I know Hollywood does that all the time, but times are changing an in this case it was the best way to irritate a good part of their potential audience.
It's a pity because the gay storyline had potential (in fact the whole show could be good in more capable hands)

NBC cancels 'extremely liberal' drama 'Rise' amid backlash for mocking Christianity with far-left talking points b.s. that play they were putting on wouldn't be allowed in most schools and had far too much adult material for those kids

While a part of me is sad the show is cancelled, I'm not too surprised. The pacing was horrible and everything seems badly written. It felt like they written a 20 episode season and was told to cut it down to 10. That is the only reason why it felt like they blaze through every story arcs. Prime example is the Simon school change arc where everything is reversed in one episode. Why even include that when the parents' disapproval can be expressed much more concisely by pulling him from the drama program or something simpler? one thing that upset me other than it was the end we did not get more time with Simon and Jeremy View AttachmentWe barely got any time with Simon and Jeremy in the season we DID have. We just get told that they have a lot of chemistry and we just get told that Jeremy keep reaching out to Simon. Nothing is really shown. We got more screen time for Simon/Annabelle than we do Simon/Jeremy. I am not saying I won't miss Simon and Jeremy, just that there was much there to be missed
