Unfortunately, de-gaying principal characters has become the norm in Hollywood, but the excuse given this time is particularly ludicrous. I don't know if it's the real reason or an extremely poorly-conceived cover for the real reason (executives don't think a show with its main character being a gay man would be popular with mainstream audiences). But either way it sucks for gay viewers. They don't mind adding lesbians or trans characters though, we have seen it on so many shows now, Riverdale just being one of them. The gays are just there as filler, while the lesbians are getting a fleshed out story. I'm so sick of it. Oh well.. I'm boycotting Riverdale now, and I never watched one single episode of Rise after straightwashing the main character. On the positive side: two shows I can take off my watch list

HOW THE TALENTED CAST OF RISE PERFECTED THE ART OF BEING BAD www.mtv.com/news/3071185/rise-cast-rehearsals-ted-sutherland-simon/ He's also doing everything he can to avoid Jeremy (Sean Grandillo) — the source of his unrest — as he grapples with these confusing, newfound feelings for his scene partner. "Simon's arc is about finding himself and being true to himself," Sutherland said. For Simon, however, that adolescent journey — his own spring awakening, if you will — is fraught with questions he doesn't know the answer to, or, rather, doesn't want to know the answers to. Yet.

RISE STAR TED SUTHERLAND BREAKS DOWN THAT HEARTBREAKING 'LEFT BEHIND' SCENE www.mtv.com/news/3071787/rise-ted-sutherland-left-behind-scene/"The relationship between Simon and his mom has always been a closer one," he said. "His mom seems to understand him a little bit better and understand things about Simon that maybe Simon doesn't yet understand. Where his father can be a bit cold, his mother is very warm and supportive." Mrs. Saunders's internal struggle between her faith and her love for her son will ultimately drive a wedge between her and her husband. Expect Simon's parents to "clash" in future episodes when it comes to their son's involvement in the controversial fall production and his burgeoning sexuality.

Can we please not do another teen pregnancy story? It feels so played out.
I'm just watching the Simon clip from gay-storylines as I refuse to trug through the entire show for the little bit and pieces they have of him. Fairly typical storyline so far, though the school change seems a bit sudden.
In terms of Jeremy, I take anything from IMDB with a grain of salt. I'll just assume he is in the show for the forseeable future until some interview or something clarify it more.
I have to admit, it is nice having those Understudios video. It help flesh out some of the background characters. It is especially helpful since it offers a better glimpse into Jeremy, which we only see in relationship to Simon otherwise
