"Eddie Lane lives in Upstate New York with his wife Sarah and their two children, Hawk and Summer. They are all members of the Meyerist Movement, which combines aspects of New Age philosophy, shamanism, Scientology, Christian mysticism and Utopianism with a few elements from the Shakers, Sufism, Tibetan Buddhism and Freemasonry ritual. Eddie returns from Peru, where he had undergone a spiritual retreat designed to advance him further up Meyerism's spiritual ladder. Unbeknownst to his family, while in Peru, Eddie experienced a revelation which causes him to question his faith in Meyerism. Meanwhile, Cal Roberts, a friend of Sarah's and one of Meyerism's top leaders, is looking to expand their influence and deal with the imminent death of their founder, Doctor Stephen Meyer." So this is Hawk - and Caleb. Hawk did have a 'kinda girlfriend' at one point, so I'm not sure if Hawk is gay or bi and I think he's trying to figure that out at the moment.

How old is Hawk? Around 16? Exploring his sexuality makes sense at this age. Gay, bi, whatever, seems like there's mutual attraction there. My grandfather used to take me out here. He’d point out all the constellations. Every single one of them. And this one night, he just started crying. And he couldn’t stop. I asked him why he was crying. He just looked up and said… “Can you believe there’s a Garden more beautiful than this?” Could get interesting with Hawk being a Meyerist and Caleb's dad being the pastor of a large Christian church.

I haven't seen anyone make videos for this pairing, but their relationship is developing quite nicely (so far). Some gifs in lieu of video clips Cute. Things might get difficult/ugly next week, though.

It's getting easier to transition hitherto straight male characters into same-sex relationships. It used to be that the straight guy had to undergo a prolonged, painful transition that often included violence, name-calling, and betrayal. He literally had to "change teams." Now, thanks to new, improved sexual fluidity, it's more like everyone is on the same team. Hawk didn't have to change anything to get involved with Caleb beyond just realizing that he liked him. I like where things are going in our culture.
Having said that, I think the writers' main purpose for getting Hawk involved with a man was to make commentary on religion and sexuality. And since they made their points in this season, I'm not sure they would have done much with the pairing in season 4, if there was one. I think they likely would have written Caleb out early on - possibly in a tragic way.

So in one week we've lost TWO shows with gay characters, Here and Now and The Path. This fucking sucks. I hope some new shows this fall will include gay male characters.
