I am so pleased that Eskild is stepping up to be the guiding adult for Isak. He obviously cares for Isak and he seems to be aware of the key role he is positioned to play. And obviously Isak needs guidance. He's very immature in his views and attitude and unfortunately he has some painful lessons to learn. Eskild gave him some tough love at the end of the scene in today's episode. I suspect that at some point down the road Isak will see how wrong he was to look down on gay pride. His excuse is that he is only 17 and it's all new to him. That's a valid excuse for now, but the expectation is that he will grow wiser. I think what Eskild said to Isak about how he needs to fight the same battles to understand gay pride is foreshadowing the difficult circumstances Isak is going to find himself in not too long from now. Lots of people are speculating that Isak's comment about needing distance from people with mental illness is what's causing Even to pull away. That's certainly possible, but it's probably also the case that Even is just as new and as inexperienced with the challenges of being gay as Isak. He could just be freaking out a bit. I don't know if Even has a mental illness, but at a minimum I think he's going to turn out to be a bit of a flake.

Yeah, that was today's episode. It's a bit of a moving target trying to get access to translations. The guy who was doing the YouTube translations now has a shared Google Drive and Dropbox where he posts translated clips: evak4lyfe.tumblr.com/post/152640884594/the-new-clip-is-up-on-dropbox-and-googledriveWho knows how long before that too gets shut down. It's too bad Isak's homophobia ruined what could have been a really great moment between him and Eskild. Eskild was really offended and hurt by what Isak said, obviously, but to his great credit he was there to say the things that Isak needed to hear. I hope Isak learns to appreciate what a great thing it was that Eskild came to him like that. I mean, who else is there to tell Isak at this critical time that it's fantastic that he's found someone regardless of their gender. And the beat down that Eskild gave Isak at the end is also going to be beneficial to him. So Eskild is my hero right now.

Eskild's speech was good, don't get me wrong, but I think the show comes off a bit preachy at times. I'd go as far as to call it slightly hypocritical. They get all high and mighty about LGBT rights etc when they can't even show the gay couple and straight couples in an equal manner, and yes I am talking about the sex part. I know there is still time left but IF we get to the end of the season without them having sex while all the other straight couples on the show got to, then yeah I stand by what I said. It would be discrimination.

Anyone have any pointers? skamstuff tumblr is down, but skinsplaces tumblr is still okay. they have a post with all the srt files and transcripts of the first 4 episodes. skinsplaces.tumblr.com/post/152208648394/skam-subtitles-mega-post
well that didn't take long. update: i know i’ll disappoint a lot of people with this, but i have decided to take my subtitle files down. i started subbing it reaaaally small scale back in may because i just wanted my friends to watch the show i’d been blabbing about the entire time. it has become way too huge now, and understandably NRK has started to meddle. at this point i honestly have no idea what is allowed anymore so i decided to just quit it all. i’m tired of being the resource, and i want to go back to also just being a viewer and enjoying it, instead of worrying every second if i need to sub something and if my stuff is going to get taken down. i hope somewhere deep down you can understand haha.

So.. Even is a bisexual fuckboy and lied about breaking up with Sonja? How lovely. Poor Isak though. I understand that Emma was pissed but ffs she could have let him come out in his own time. I'm so upset right now. So.. I'm guessing Even and Isak won't end up together. The rest of the season will be about Isak accepting himself and coming out?

So today's episode was quite difficult for Isak. His world is shattering before his eyes and we have to watch it happen. However, there are some encouraging things, which I'll get to later. At the start of today's clip, Isak and his friends are hanging out drinking and Isak is completely miserable. When they decide to go to Emma's party, Isak doesn't want to go, but his friends pressure him into going. At the party, Isak bumps into Emma and she gives him a piece of her mind. She's mainly upset that he led her on knowing that he is gay. Isak is very scared during this whole party scene because he's basically living in the middle of an unraveling lie. After Emma walks away, things go from bad to worse when he sees Even and Sonja kissing. Obviously, this upsets Isak. He leaves the party in a foul mood, getting into a brief fight with one of his buddies as he leaves. We then see him wandering alone and crying. Not an encouraging episode for sure and a dark day for Isak. I think there's a few things to take comfort in, though: 1. This development pretty much ends the Romeo+Juliet parallel. It now looks like a story about whether or not Isak and Even can eventually come together, not them coming together and then having something tragic end their togetherness. So we may be able to stop worrying about a suicide. 2. It's pretty clear that Eskild's words to Isak about how he first needs to have the guts to stand up for who he is before he judges Gay Pride were foreshadowing the struggle Isak is going to face. It looks like Isak is going to have to fight to find the happiness he is looking for and to be who he truly is. He's going to have to fight the homophobia that's constraining both him and Even. It could turn out that Isak has the strength to do this and Even doesn't. I could see this series ending with Isak moving on beyond Even, but being happy and strong with his true identity. 3. It looks like Sonja was kissing Even and not the other way around. Still bad for Even to be going along with it, but it does suggest that his heart is really with Isak. I actually think Even has it bad for Isak, but he is weak. What happens next? I think it's time for Isak and Jonas to have an honest talk. I hope we see that. Isak needs real friends right now.

So, we'll get another story with the gay characters not ending up together. Another sad ending while all the straight chatacters get happy endings. I'm sorry but this is not satisfactory for me at all. It's not as bad as suicide or death or whatever, but still. If Isak ends up accepting himself that's all good, but I want a romantic love story, I want and NEED a happy ending.

I'm a little torn on the conversation between Isak and Eskild. I didn't think either one came away from that conversation looking very good, but the fact that it happened gives me a little hope. On the positive side, I liked that Eskild took the initiative to talk with Isak. He sees that something is going on with Isak and wants to talk. I think he could help Isak figure stuff out in his head. Clearly Isak isn't comfortable with himself, and is (understandably) trying to figure out what it all means. I liked that Isak felt comfortable enough to at least talk about it a little, even if he has a long way to go. Yet I thought they both made mistakes. Isak fumbled pretty badly with the start of the conversation, much like he did with Sana. The way he started put Eskild on the defensive. I really don't think he intended to offend Eskild, but he's young and doesn't really understand. He has a lot to learn. At the same, I thought Eskild was a bit too harsh on Isak at this stage. Isak has only just started talking about his sexuality with anyone, yet Eskild acted like Isak should already know a lot more. His point was a good one, but it felt just a bit premature. As for Friday's clip... Damn. I don't understand anything that was said, but things are definitely getting rough for Isak. He was so upset at the end. Even told Isak that things are moving fast and that he needed some time, and the next we see he's kissing Sonja. Sonja definitely didn't look upset, which leads me to think Even didn't really break up with her (though I suppose he only told Isak they took a break). I suppose there could be a reasonable explanation but I'm having trouble seeing one that that will lead in a good direction. So what is Even playing at? I wish the show would give a bit more focus on Even's point of view; the storytelling feels a little unbalanced. His excuse is that he is only 17 and it's all new to him. That's a valid excuse for now, but the expectation is that he will grow wiser. I guess I thought Isak's excuse is that he's only just starting to figure out his own sexuality, and how it fits in his world. I think he'll definitely grow wiser. Unfortunately that only works if there are SRT files for the clip.

His point was a good one, but it felt just a bit premature. For me the harshness was justified both because Isak deserved it and because it will make him re-think his opinion. My guess is Even does have an explanation. Perhaps Isak's "people with mental illness" comment made him think he couldn't have a future with Isak. The most reliable way - at present - to watch a new clip and understand what's being said - if you don't want to wait for a translated clip to appear somewhere - is to go to this guy's Tumblr blog: evak4lyfe.tumblr.com/Usually somebody will post an overview of what happens in the clip soon after it appears. Then later someone does a full transcript. Maybe a reliable source of srt files will come along.

Welp, Isak is probably feeling pretty shit after that episode. I'm really interested to see the role his friends are gonna play in this all considering Isak has been sorta growing more and more apart from them due to his issues with his sexuality and his hidden thing with Even. I'm assuming that Sonya was the one to tell Emma about Isak as well though I'm glad she didn't do something mean-spirited to him and just told him off for using her. And, Sonya and Even together is... interesting. I wonder if he is more torn between Sonya and Isak than we initially thought. Maybe he has more issues with his sexuality than we thought, or maybe Sonya is just throwing herself at him in order to get back with him. Also, the last like 40 seconds where Isak left the party was done so well in line with the music, I loved it.

Isak just looks so small, you can see his heart breaking. Looks like his first love is crashing down all around him and becoming of a nightmare.
I just started following their clips, so Evan might just be playing with him because he likes the attention or maybe Evan truly doesn't know what he wants and is leading them both on. Or maybe he's just one of those guys who likes to have his cake and eat it too. As much lovin as he can get.
I do think Evan looked genuinely happy when he was with Isak. Does Evan know that Isak was at the party when Evan was there with Sonya? Because to tell Isak one thing about his relationship with her, when it wasn't true and to then rub it in his face. That's a pretty cruel thing to do. Will Evan try to come back to Isak in secret or just ignore and avoid him?

Did the previous seasons take breaks? I guess that in 10 days when the show resumes it will also be 10 days later in Isak's life. It's possible that Isak has skipped the entire school week or maybe there weren't classes for some reason. He's not taking calls or answering texts perhaps. So maybe when the show resumes, it is everyone trying to figure out what's going on with Isak. The sex will almost certainly be between Isak and Even, IMO. The question is how do they get to that point from where they are now? I think that Even is in love with Isak and is going to be horrified that he's made Isak so disgusted with him. I don't think Even is a player. I think he is just not very strong. And there may be something else going on with him. We still don't know the reason he changed schools and repeated a year. I suspect that sharing that story will be part of how Even wins back Isak. He's going to have to work hard to regain Isak's trust.

Regarding the promo, my guess is it's likely to be Isak and Even, but I don't think it's a forgone conclusion. Certainly Isak is mad at Even now, but I think he still really cares so I'm not sure it would take much persuasion for him to forgive Even. Either way, it's definitely two guys. I watched the translated clip this morning and it raises more questions . So Isak and Even "hooked up" last week, then apparently Even tells Sonja, who tells Emma. But Emma is mad at Isak, while Sonja is not mad at Even? I wonder if that reaction is related to how Sonja and Emma got themselves invited to the "pre-game" drinking with Isak & Even, where it was clear Even didn't intend for them to be there. Maybe Sonja is just a dominating personality while Even is not, she decides she wants to stick with Even, and Even just goes along? Or did she "forgive" Even? Or maybe he really is just confused about what he wants? Or maybe he really is playing with both of them? The latter seems unlikely. But this is one of the things that's sorely missing: Even's point of view. I guess the show just wants to keep us guessing.
