While they never say the word "gay" (yes I realize the irony given the recent backlash against Disney's involvement in Florida politics), Better Nate than Ever is a lot more queer than I expected - and more heartwarming too. There are two sequel novels where Nate's sexuality is explored in greater depth so I wonder if they will adapt them should this one do well. I mean, it'd be a real shame if it can't garner the ratings to justify producing the sequel(s) considering how it's been set up for success with two emerging young stars (Rueby Wood and Aria Brooks), as well as Lisa Kudrow and Joshua Bassett of HSM series fame.

Great Freedom - a film about gay men who survived the concentration camps only to be sent to prison for their homosexuality. Based on the trailer and interview - this one is a sad film. Interview with the Director: news.yahoo.com/don-t-overlook-austria-gay-203019368.htmland the trailer: Finally watched, very good. I was intrigued by the ending. The main character finally is out of jail after homosexuality is decriminalized, goes to a gay bar (Great Freedom) and sees subterranean sex-filled corridors, decides to go smash a window to go back to prison to be with his straight friend.

I have watched three movies the past few weeks.
Jose
Gratious nudity and a lot of sex. That's the best thing I have to say about this movie. It was kinda depressing. If you want to watch a movie about a poor, miserable gay man with a brief glimpse of happiness, this is for you. I'd give it 4/10.
The Strong Ones
I liked this one, it was good, although not great. It was realistic, good acting, a nice and sweet love story. The guys had chemistry. The ending annoyed me though. It was realistic and open ended, but I wouldn't call it a happy ending. Spoiler (highlight to read): don't worry, nobody died, but they didn't end up together either, but it was realistic, as they both had different journeys I'd give this movie 6/10.
Operation Hyacinth
This movie was amazing, great acting, sad but realistic. It's not a movie you want to watch if you want mindless entertainment though, it was heavy. But damn... it was so representative of the time it was set. Spoiler (highlight to read): And the plot twist of the police officer being gay himself, and that he was basically just faking it with his fiancee, and his relationship with his lover. Ugh, goals. So romantic. I loved it. The ending was so-so. Nobody died but it didn't exactly end on a good note for him, right? Well... we won't know. Most likely he would have been imprisoned for being gay, the murder was him defending himself. But in my mind, the guys end up together. It was an open ending, and he said he would see him later, so whatever happened after that, I do believe they would end up together one way or another. I'd give this movie 8/10. Well worth the watch imo.

Watched Luz, well... some of it. It was SO bad. SO SO SO bad. Would NOT recommend. Avoid at all costs. It was horrible. The acting sucked. The budget was so small it was laughable. The actors had no chemistry. Oh, and did I mention the BAD acting? The plot was so slow moving I lost any interest. I literally couldn't even finish it. That's how bored I got. Ugh, I can never get those minutes of my life back. Now I feel sad. I'll give the movie 2/10. I would have given it a 0 if not for some nudity and hot sex scenes. Other than that... nah. It wasn't worth it.

The Sea
This movie looks good.
Plot: When Lorena and Diego, a seemingly straight couple, move to the coast of Chile together, they find their relationship tested. Diego begins developing feelings for a handsome local man named Vincente. Their passionate clandestine affair comes to a dramatic, inevitable head when all three go camping together in this deeply erotic drama from director Marco Antonio Nunez.

Finally got to see Wildhood. It was good, but not great. I expected more tbh. Maybe it's because it's a different movie than what I expected. It wasn't a bad movie per se, it was actually good. I was just a bit disappointed about the gay plot. Linc finding his mom was the A-plot, and the gay storyline was the B-plot. The gay plot wasn't really featured that much, except for a couple of scenes. I would have liked to see more affection between the guys, though the lingering looks were lovely. And I guess they both aren't really people who speak a lot, so there is very little dialouge. Anyways, it was a good movie, but not very gay. I'll give it 6/10. The indigenous theme was a nice touch though.

This quirky 2021 'Phantom of the Opera' spoof from Spain is now being released internationally on GagaOOLala.
Synopsis (as if you need to know!): "Javi comes to a sauna club looking for a job. But soon enough, he's set to find out that the sauna is a place full of secrets, the biggest of them being a strange man who will fall in love with him: the Phantom of the Sauna himself."

"Indie Boys" is another film that is now getting a wider international release through GagaOOLala.
Made in 2010, this movie from the Philippines is (according to the blurb) "a satire on the dark reality permeating the gay indie movie industry in Manila. Leonardo David is a famous movie director whose career has started to slump. Swallowing his pride, he accepts an offer to make a sexy gay indie movie—the latest box office trend in Manila. Enter wannabe actors, Raymond Sanchez and Ryan Delfin who will do whatever it takes to land the lead role even if it means attaining the affections of the director for a chance at fame."

Finally got to see Firebird. It was a good movie, and very romantic. But some of it kinda pissed me off.
Spoilers: It didn't make sense how Sergej kept pining for Roman when Roman treated him like shit. And then he went and got married and have a kid but Sergej wasn't allowed to say anything, he was just supposed to accept it?! WTF? During all of the movie I kept thinking he deserved better. It didn't make sense how he didn't just tell Roman to fuck off and go looking for someone else, even if he was supposedly in love. That's why I'll only give this movie a 6/10.

This movie looks very good! Can't wait to see it. BenedictionIt may be good objectively, but it's based on a true story and the ending doesn't sound happy. Also the director is gay but has been quoted saying that his sexuality ruined his life. So don't expect too much.

I like the casting of TZP, bit iffy on Galitzine - really should've had a redhead in the role IMO! I've not read the book, so does anyone know if it's more Heartstopper or Ari & Dante?

'Rainbow Lagoon' is the new upcoming production from the small indie company Wayufilm. Although not fully confirmed, it looks very much like they will put it out in a similar format to their last couple of productions 'Boy Scouts' and 'Country Boy' which were movie length but split into two parts. Since we ended up putting those minor films into this section, I'll add this one here too. It can easily be moved if somewhere else turns out to be more appropriate.

I hope, this is the correct place to ask the question. I'm searching for a movie, which I watched many years ago. But sadly, I remember barely anything, not the title, nor the actors, but a tiny bit of the plot.
It was a comedy. In this movie, a gay man was in love with a straight man. The straight man was in love with a woman. And the woman was in love with the gay man.
Does anybody have an idea, which movie this could have been?
