Interview with Steven S. DeKnight (Creator, head writer and executive producer of Spartacus), courtesy of blastr.com: blastr.com/2012/04/spartacus-showrunner-expl.phpHe focuses on Lucy Lawless' character, but also discusses that there was a method to their madness in killing off so many characters in the finale.

If we could decide who we loved, it would be much simpler, but less magical.

I love the fact how he says he realized that Lucretia was crazy mad like Mad Ophelia while he was in the shower. It just tickles me pink that this came to him while he was in the shower. I was sad to see Lucretia go, mainly because Lucy Lawless plays her so amazingly. But what an epic death she had and it so make sense for her character.

Lucy Lawless was perfect as Lucretia but it was her time to go. I think it was great that they kept her for the second season and yes, her death was epic! I can't wait to see all the knew characters they are going to bring for season three and, of course, to see more of Agron and Nasir. ;D Does anyone know when season three will begin? Is it in January?

I heard we'll have to wait ten months for Season 3, so January sounds about right. In the meantime, if you're in the States, Target is selling the first season and GOA for $14.99. I'm glad I waited to get the first season now, because that was an awesome deal.

Oh my god! I am so incredibly pissed off right now! Here in Australia Spartacus: Vengeance is airing on Gem, and I was so excited! I have seen the whole season before but only online. But they have edited out all of the good parts! When they swear in the show they either cut it out or change it to frick instead of fuck, and they removed all the sex scenes and even the first kiss between agron and nasir! Aaaaah!!!!!

Then why show it? ;D And have they only edited out the first kiss of Nagron or all the kisses? It would be weird if it's only the first kiss because some of the other kisses are much hotter.

well they showed the sex scene between nasir's dominus (i cant remember his name) and chadara. but they cut out the part where his dominus said 'place cock in ass'. so it seems as though they are only cutting the gay parts!

I honestly don't get why they do that. If the channel does not want to protray gay love/sex scenes in general, why air that sort of series, where pretty much every second there's someone naked and/or blood everywhere? And saying 'frik' instead of f**k? It's not like 5 year olds are watching those freakin' scenes XD
It's a bit like when they aired Broakback mountain here in Italy and...cut off the sex scenes. I mean really, it's GAY MOVIE, what else did you expect them to show?! Rainbows and unicorns?

Hardly surprised to be honest. Outisde of the big cities, Australia is not as tolerant as it is made out to be.

I hadn't checked agron-and-nasir.tumblr.com/ in a while and discovered that the uploader is uploading Agron's back story! Already has 7 new clips.

I also take it into account that this show is pretty accurate in its portrayal of Romans and other cultures during that time. Homosexuality just was, and it was never made out to be a huge deal. Sex is sex, it really didn't matter how you got off as long as you did. So why even bother airing a show that is based during a period in time where sex was normal no matter who it was with.

It was announced today that Season three of Spartacus: War of the Damned (awesome title!), will be the last and final season of the Spartacus saga. 10 episodes that will go off with a bang. Steven DeKnight wants to go off on a high note. www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/06/04/spartacus-ending_n_1565148.htmlJanuary 2013 - let the ending begin! NAGRON! I highly suspect we'll get one hot sex scene in Season 3........and then all fall down.

If you know the history, as most fans do, then you know how it ends already. Going out on top is the best thing to do. I do think we will see a lot more Nasir and Agron though, because this is the second interview where I've heard they will be developed more.

But given that the show is famous in killing off characters, I won't be surprised if they will kill one of them on the way (althought I hope not).

It's the most predictable route, and given the actual history, it's a very slim chance they'll survive. So, since the beginning of the show, I have geared myself up for losing favourite characters....
So, all I'm hoping for now is, like Steven DeKnight said, that he'll build Nagron's s/l more in S3, that he does that, make the relationship deeper (give us at least one hot sex scene....the gratuitous side of Spartacus - tits, ass, blood & sand, and all).......and then heart-wrenchingly kills one or both of them. In an epically tragic way. An epic storyline that makes you wail because he's build their love to be that great, to that height, that the fall is epically devastating.
That's a testament to good storytelling, and I'm looking forward to the tragedy.

nryabenko, the article that luckycharm posted above that announces the next season also has this (highlight to read): The show does such a good job creating these supporting characters, but if I had one issue with "Spartacus: Vengeance," there just wasn't a lot of time for the subsidiary characters. I guess, being greedy, I wanted more time with the new and the returning characters, people like Agron and Nasir, Gannicus and Saxa. Is there going to be enough time for that this season, given all the stuff that you’ve just said you have to establish? Yes. As a matter of fact, it's funny you should mention that because I look at "Vengeance" as really setting up a lot of ["War of the Damned"] stuff. Like, we introduced the Agron-Nasir romance. What I love about that romance -- and I think it's really the first time we've really done this on the show -- is that it's romance that we took the time to develop very, very slowly. We explore that more this upcoming season with those two.
