What exactly is Karma on our username profile when we post something and why do some have more than others? Also after so many posts, what is the next level we obtain and how many posts does it take?

I believe it is to identify trolls. If you like somebody you can "exalt" them and give them more karma. If you think they are a twit or being antagonistic you can "smite" them and lower their karma level. Which I guess serves as a warning to other posters.

Also after so many posts, what is the next level we obtain and how many posts does it take? each and everyone of us can give karma to someone else... for obvious reasons, certain people that have certain youtube accounts will have more karma than us mere mortals that just follow the story...! likewise, somebody who will misuse the board can be identified easily by giving them 'bad' karme and me and the moderators can take appropriate action. after 50 posts you move up to junior, after 100 to full... this is nothing you should pay much attention to, i just left most things as they were per default...

I only question the levels as I used to run a board for airline employees.

The use of Karma as described by Lolaruns is accurate. But the word itself isn't. The concept of "Karma" comes from the Hindu philosophy and could be resumed in "all the bad things you had done in this life and the previous ones", while "Dharma" is the opposite, all the good things that you have done in this life or your previous ones. So, "Karma" has certain negative significance... there isn't such a thing like "good karma", but recently people has been using the phrase in lieu of "Dharma". Glad someone asked the question. The answers provided remove some of the obstacles I face as I ever so slowly make my way out of the technologically-challenged closet. I've just previewed my post and I'm jumping for joy... I've managed to 'quote.' What I'd like to know is how you can put a quote inside another quote. Is this the right place to ask questions of a technical nature? All of this is so foreign to me. Just let me know and I'll do my darnest to find the right thread. Tks.
