Van God Los is a Dutch drama series that is based on true facts. Every episode revolves around a different crime. So every episode is a different story with a different cast. Episode 5 ("Manslaughter") deals with homophobia and violence against gays. "Three friends come to Amsterdam to party, get drunk and take drugs. Gay-bar owner Alan's boyfriend is the victim of a horrifying gay bashing on that day and Alan is disgusted by the existing homophobia. The three boys and Alan clash against each other in a confrontation with terrible consequences..." Jeffrey Hamilton (Remco), Pim Wessels (Steven) and Vanja Rukavina (Rogier)I subtitled the complete episode. Part 1: vimeo.com/25621752Part 2: vimeo.com/25649063

Thanks for subbing Mark but I couldn't watch. It looked amazing and wonderfully acted, very powerful, but I'm not ready to let go of my Gay Pride high yet

Maybe you can watch it some other time? I think it's really worth it (even though it's sad).

Thanks a lot Mark for taking the time to sub the episode. I had gotten the gist of it but these stories always get to me and I had missed some of the nuances. The needless tragedy, because of someone loosing their temper is always terrible. It is all the sadder because it really happened, it is based on a true story.

Thanks for this, Mark. I finally got around to watching it tonight. I'm not usually a fan of tragedies. This was well done, though, and I appreciate that. The ending was so sad, but after the altercation with Alan, I knew that was how it would end (well, that and the "terrible consequences" remark ). Spoiler: I loved that the two guys started to explore what they meant to each other (and that they surprised their macho friend ;D). I also loved that Steve didn't leave after all (it seemed like he was going to try to surprise Rogier, which would have been great ... had Rogier lived). I kind of wish the wrap-up at the end had mentioned Steve (on Monday night he passed away in the presence of his family ... and Steve). (end)

Reply to that spoiler: I actually do think Steven left... Him running through the airport was to be on time to check in (I think). I think if Steven didn't leave they would have mentioned him at the end.

Not sure why they showed him rushing to get to the airport, instead of just smiling at the keepsake Rogier gave him. Doesn't seem like that would add much to the story at that point. Considering that they showed that against the backdrop of Rogier dying . Oh, well.

I actually think that scene worked really well. It was a nice contrast with the scenes in the train. Rogier dying, while Steven is happy, going on a great trip... thinking about the guy he's in love with. The two scenes are connected by the two necklaces.

Thanks markdutchviewer for the subs. And I must say it's a very good episode. Too bad for it's tragic ending. But it's such an interesting twist. Enjoyed it very much!
