I loved that letter so much. I hope the vows are even better. It was such a lovely gesture and I think Guy did a wonderful job with the scenes. My only gripe is that people seem to be harping on the fact that CM isn't here, saying it takes away from the emotional resonance, instead of focussing on the significance of this occasion.

It's easy to say that it would have been better with CM, but that cannot be proven, which I suppose works because he gets to be on a pedestal forever.

The letter that Will left in Sonny's suit coat was so sweet. I enjoyed Victor telling off Herb, and resigning from the board. The exchange had a little of a "PSA" vibe to it, but it was nice to see regardless. I couldn't help but smile at EJ talking with that guy in Chicago. The whole exchange was so bizarre. I also like that Sonny and Gabi were civil, though their hot-and-cold friendship does wear thin at times. Bring on tomorrow! Thanks, mrfixit!

Wow. Just wow. I have to say,the best thing about this episode for me was WilSon.
Forget about Caroline, Lucas and Justin-Will and Sonny (and by extension GW and FS) really showed how far they've come as a couple. The easy intimacy displayed throughout the episode was phenomenal.
I really loved that dance. It was so intimate and tender-best moment of the episode for me.
But the MVP was Freddie:the tears, the smiles, the looks-everything was so well done. I really wish he would get that Emmy in June for the wonderful work he has done as Sonny Kiriakis.

I've never been a cheerleader for WilSon, but I do appreciate that the onscreen affection displayed between the characters now is what I've come to expect and need to see, when I'm being told in the story that those two characters are in love.

While not a fan of having WilSon painted into a corner as Salem's only stable, drama-free couple, I must admit to being misty-eyed at their wedding. It was beautifully done, from the heartfelt letter Will left in Sonny's tux, to Great-Grandma Caroline's story about the gay couple they knew, to the utter jubilation of all the attendees. Even Missy Reeves managed to smile when the camera went in for (multiple!) closeups, and we all know how she feels about marriage equality. We didn't need Abby and EJ's tryst publicly broadcast, or an ex-boyfriend standing up to object, or a bitter homophobe like Herb shooting up the wedding party (in fact I felt Herb was superfluous, although I chuckled at the dig at proponents of the so-called sanctity of marriage still practising divorce and remarriage).
Now I'll be very glad if the show makes up for the lame female stripper gag by showing us the boys' wedding night in glorious detail. Sami's surprise better be a pair of matching "His" and "His" silk briefs.

Looking back to the earlier pages of this forum, to all the doubts we had about this storyline, I'm glad that I can say it turned out great and the three actors involved did a phantastic job. I don't care when other people complain about the lack of typical soap drama in the Wilson relationship and that they are boring as a couple. I'm happy that so far none of them died of cancer, got shot dead, simply disappeared into oblivion, or suddenly turned straight again like we have seen it on screen with to many gay couples. I hope DOOL stays for many more years on screen with Wilson as a strong and loving couple.

Yes, i'm the first to recognize that i was totally wrong. I'm not exactly thrilled about Wilson storyline, but Days had a very good commitment with their gay storyline. And i'm almost sure they are not going to follow the new trend of gay domestic abuse

It seems to me that Will and Sonny could still have 10 years worth of drama ahead of them. I don't we should assume that they will be easy breezy just because they made it to the alter and had a phenomenally beautiful wedding. They have had plenty of drama so far I'm sure there will be much more to come. Now had the drama involved sex or cheating or jealously? No. But they have definitely had drama.

It's something that I'm glad is being celebrated by viewers (well some viewers) and the soap media. Does anyone know if mainstream media aka Access Hollywood, E News talked about the WilSon wedding from last week?

And I'm almost sure they are not going to follow the new trend of gay domestic abuseWell, I hope so too. Yet, I wonder why domestic abuse in these gay storylines is the well that these writers delve into over just setting up one of these characters to cheat? I don't believe that DAYS would ever have Will or Sonny hitting each other, but for them to not experience SOME sort of outside temptation? Yes, this discussion is jumping the gun and being presumptuous, but after soap pairings get married or fight all the folks that initially kept them apart for so long, they get their "perfect moment", before some other trauma comes down their path again. The sad business of how the other gay pairings/characters of years past were written out of their shows (in order to not give them any storyline OR that they network were just too damn afraid to write for them) is why I want to see a good, old-fashioned soap staple of either Will or Sonny being tempted by somebody new coming into their lives. Being in this constant fear of thinking that Will and Sonny will be written off, because of what happened to other soap characters/pairings, in my opinion defeats the wish that they'll be treated in the same way as their straight counterparts on the same soap. Unless that's not what folks want. I remember all the discussion about if Sonny wasn't paired off with Will, from the moment he came to Salem, some folks thought that he would be written out.

I think there's little imagination on the soap world, generally the stories are exactly the same, the coming out, the first couple (wich is usually the one and only), getting married, having a child, and domestic violence seems to be the last trending storyline. In most cases, the couple should not be together, just that to start, because the writers rushed to get that couple together. And i find disturbing that all soaps chose a physical violence pattern. I explain, if you chose that one of the members of the couple has controlling issues over the other, you can get a long story arc without doing too much damage to the abuser in case you want to redeem him later. But physical violence, and even more, continued physical violence is a lot harder to redeem (there are some gay characters that are truely punching bags). Anyway there are a lot main male characters that were rapist, so i suppose they think they can do the same with a gay violent abuser. I would like to think the times have changed, but the reaction to some of that storylines is quite disturbing.
I would love if Will and Sonny were a little edgier, a little less vanilla and sugar, but at least i appreciate that they won't go with this new trend, specially because the fast paced of soaps don't make any favours to more deep storylines

If we could decide who we loved, it would be much simpler, but less magical.

Especially for gay characters, which is just sad. I have seen very few where there is a difference. Probably why so many soaps have been canceled because not much changes when it comes to the writing and the stories. The world around them has changed, but they didn't change with it and they died. I do hope they don't bring violence into Sonny and Will storyline. One because that has been done and two I don't think it works with this couple. Perhaps their work/careers causing them problems, a custody battle over Ari, the want to have another baby. It coming out that Sonny knew Gabi's other big secret. Etc...

Just watched today's show, that was the most unromantic honeymoon ever.

I don't think that was the real honeymoon; I think that was just their wedding night at the Salem Inn. Their real honeymoon will be later. That said, it wasn't particularly romantic, and Sonny picked the worst time to bring up that topic.
