If we could decide who we loved, it would be much simpler, but less magical.

I don't see Sonny bringing up that topic, more the writers forcing the storyline since they have a certain amount of time to tell the story. I wish they had let the boys have some happiness and romance before having them dive right into the insanity of Gabi and Nick. But Sonny is right they need to get Ari far away from Nick. And Will is also right, the more they tell Gabi how horrible Nick is the more she's gonna turn to Nick. I'm starting to think she really is that stupid.

I cannot for the life of me understand why this thread is active whereas the thread for Hollyoaks is completely dead. This show is so dreadful it's practically physically painful to watch.

I cannot for the life of me understand why this thread is active whereas the thread for Hollyoaks is completely dead. This show is so dreadful it's practically physically painful to watch. Maybe because the constant torture of John Paul is not what (at least myself) want to watch. It happened with Aaron on Emmerdale and now is happening with JP in Hollyoaks, sometimes writers are simply sadistic on one character. If the actor is good that's great for him because it gives him material to show his skills, but after i while i can't stand it. Sometimes on a soap you just need to give the character release an punish the bad ones, because if you don't do that it became more irritant and annoying that entertaining. I patiently wait to the show to get rid of Gabi and then i really hope they give Will and Sonny something substantial, interesting or funny to do

I don't think Sonny would have brought up Nick if Gabi hadn't sent the photos of Ari and I think it was fine for Will to want to check his phone just to make sure everything was ok at home since he and Sonny are now fathers. Parents don't stop being parents just because it's their wedding night. At any rate, I think Sonny is right and I think he should not back down because we all know that Gabi is dumber than a box of hair and Will wants peace and calm so badly that he gives Gabi a lot more rope than he should.
I think ANYTIME two parents of a child are not married there should be a clear custody agreement that says they share custody of the child and are equally responsible for her because you never know what can happen and it's better to be prepared. The fact that Gabi sees any kind of legal declaration of Will as Ari's other parent as a threat is what should make it clear to Will that Gabi sees Ari as HER child, not their child. She was prepared to move to NY without so much as a "Do you mind" for Will and just assumed Ari would go with her.
So while I don't think they should spend all of their wedding night talking about it, I think Will should seriously consider having a family meeting about establishing shared custody of Ari immediately.
I recall Will saying they were waiting until the summer to go on a real honeymoon because he is still in school so I think in DOOL world, it's been the same night since the wedding as of yesterday.
Also, in terms of drama for Will and Sonny, obviously there will be some, but I think folks are taking a very ahistorical view when it comes to how the first gay legally married couple on a soap should be treated.
Not only are Will and Sonny the first real married gay couple on a daytime soap, they are the ONLY gay characters on the show on a regular basis. Unlike their straight counterparts who have a multitude of options when it comes to pairing them up with new people, it takes a lot more work to work in another character or characters on the show for either of them to fall for particularly if the show wants us to care about whomever the new gay character is.
Assuming the show stays on the air for a while, I'm sure they will eventually work some extra gays onto the canvas and hopefully in as real parts of the cast, not just random extras or day players.
Obviously Sonny could pick up some dude at the bar or get picked up at the bar and Will could have an affair with another student or a teacher but in order for the viewers to care, that other man or men has to be a real character on the show.
I haven't been posting much just because I have been really loving the show since the whole Nick is dead situation began and I didn't want to harsh my mellow. But I do miss discussing it with folks. I just feel like it is so good right now.
If the producers of DOOL are smart, they will bring in more gay or bi characters who aren't part of Will and Sonny's story (maybe working with Kate and Lucas or Sami and EJ) so that they can be on the canvas already and slowly work them into Will and or Sonny's orbit.
I'd also love to see Sonny's brothers come back or even Gabi and Rafe's brother. The show needs more young blood for real.

The wedding was done much better than I expected. Caroline's speech was especially good. Days frequently gets the big moments right, I think. It's the span in-between where things tend to fall flat. In any case, they have certainly shown that they are committed to the characters and to gay equality. I remember when Days first brought Sonny on to be Will's love interest only to almost immediately shelve that story line for a year. Then Will's ridiculous coming out story where his best friend was gay and gorgeous yet he somehow never noticed him. For a long time I had my doubts about whether Days had the courage to do a gay romance. When they did finally put Will and Sonny together, it almost seemed as if they were pressured to do so by the fans. But since then, Days has been pretty committed to doing the story right. I'm sure the political events happening in society at large have helped them feel as comfortable as they are with the story line. It's been a remarkable last few years for gay equality.
I don't know if Will and Sonny will now be consigned to a boring background role. That's certainly a danger. With a little inventiveness, though, the writers should be able to keep (make) them interesting. We'll see...

After watching todays show I have no idea what Nick is up to. I thought he would want Gabi and Ari to move out to make it easier for him to make Gabi think he's changed but he actually told her she should keep living with Will and Sonny. What is this mad man up too?

James was amazing and Ali was good as well. However, I wasn't fooled. I knew it was a dream because Sami kept entering scenes like a ghost. There's no way she could had opened the door and walk up on EJ like that without him noticing even if he was off his game at the moment. EJ is a super-cautious character. And for Sami to also enter the Horton house without anybody noticing in the same episode just screamed "It's a dream". Next, I found Marlena's behavior towards EJ to be way too harsh considering he just did her a huge favor a week ago - another getaway. Finally, the "Abigail goes off the railing" thing was more theatrical than Passions! I guess Abigail is definitely not pregnant since she hasn't had a single symptom since the doctor's visit. I always thought it was out of character for her (again) to have sex without some type of birth control involved considering what happened to her best friend Gabi.

This place is like a graveyard these days and I think I know why. I know the first thing that is going to be said is that there nothing going on story-wise for WilSon right now. But this site was more active two years ago when there was even less story for them and Will (sometimes) and Sonny would disappear for weeks at a time. Other will blame it on the absence of Chandler as Will. I'm glad Chandler's gone (although he should have been kept until after the wedding!) at the least for time being because he lacked the maturity as an actor needed to take Will into the next stage of his life.
The real reason why I think interest in WilSon has waned is the woefully micasted Guy Wilson. I adore Guy and I think he's definitely talented. His enthusiasm, friendly and attention to details are all such wonderful qualities. However, Guy WilSon will never be Will Horton to me. There is a certain quality that the role requires and sadly Guy does not have it.

I think Guy does just fine as Will, so I disagree with your conclusion.
For my part, the story these days just isn't terribly interesting. We've had Will and Sonny go around on the Nick & Gabi mess for so long that it's long lost its appeal to me. I mean, how long has Nick been creating messes already? The story isn't centered on Will or Sonny right now; it's centered on Nick (and to a lesser extent Gabi) with the guys just supporting. That doesn't really pique my interest. YMMV.
There's also something to be said about a "new and exciting" (so to speak) romance that draws people in. But Will & Sonny have been around for a while now; the novelty has somewhat worn off. Lots of people came and watched for a while, to see if it was worth paying attention to. I suspect some were turned off a while ago and either stopped watching or just don't care enough to post here.

Still watching and still reading posts. Things here were too negative for me personally so I read and move on.
Very happy with the recast but the Nick/Gabi stuff has taken its toll on me. Can't wait till they're gone!!

As I said before, I don't think it's just the boring storylines although they definitely contribute the lack of interest in posting. I believe that if Chandler was still in the role, there would be a bit more traffic here at this moment. Let's just this out in the open. I'll repeat myself, I think that Guy is a talented, attractive actor and a very engaging person but let's face it. He's not a soap hunk! Most people don't wish they could be in romantic pairing with Guy the way they do for Freddie or Chandler. He's missing that "look at me" quality. I'm often bored with scenes Guy is in where nothing much is going on, but I could watch Chandler stand in the background of a scene smirking and still be engaged. However pleased I am with his acting Guy just does not draw me into his Will the way Chandler did. That's why I still don't see him as Will Horton. He's more like brand new character to me. DOOL made a mistake in casting and they just don't want to admit it because Guy such as great guy (pun intended ). When they were considering recasting Will, they should have gone with someone more dynamic and hunkier who could act like say my avatar. Brant would have made a great slightly older Will and we all know he has chemistry to spare with Freddie but he's not my top pick. My ideal person to play Will would be GH's Bryan Craig. Yes. This boy is as pretty as they come, but just like Chandler he has the acting chops to make you notice more than his face. Plus he and Freddie would look really hot together too.
