The character Max is the stereotypical jock in highschool on MTV's The Hard Times of R. J. Berger. R. J. witnesses a very steamy kiss between Max and an un-named guy in the lockerroom's showers in episode 11 of season 2 (Max is the guy who walks up to the other guy in the shower). According to AfterElton, the show is "likely" to be renewed for a third season. Hope they will explore Max further with plenty of steamy makeout sessions like the first one. I think it was probably the hottest gay reveal ever. Those drunken kisses that usually precipitate jocks coming out will never be enough for me now!

The guy that Max was making with in the shower his name is Guillermo according to what I have read about him he is gay as well but the question I have is.Are Max and Guillermo secretly dating?I hope that in season 3 they will explore that relationship more.

I just saw the second episode of the finale, and I think it was really well done. RJ showed he's the better man by not sinking to Max's level. I'm glad he didn't out him. I think RJ knows what big of a deal it is to be outed, in some ways it's worse than being bullied. I'm not defending what Max is putting RJ through, I know it's wrong and it shouldn't happen. However, he obviously has issues that comes from being gay. He has an image to protect, and he's willing to go to every lengths to try and protect it. Being a jock is basically all there is to him, it means everything to him. Taking that away would be worse than what Max is doing to RJ.
A part of me just wanted Max to jump down from the stage and kiss Guillermo though. The way Guillermo was looking at him the whole time just made me go aww, it was really cute! I knew it wouldn't happen though. Max is so closeted, and I have a feeling he'll get even angrier and bully even more now since he feels threatened, kinda like Riley in Degrassi.

You know as I was watching back Guillermo I kinda noticed that he's kinda of nerdy looking I mean look he's no Max that's for sure.He doesn't have that muscle look going for him I believe that why Max is so attracted to him is because maybe he makes Max feel comfortable in his own skin.What I would love to see if there is a season 3 is Guillermo get a boyfriend and Max get super jealous and try to break them up.

Is it only viewable on the mtv-site? You can search around other websites to watch full epsiode's but if your talking about watching it on YouTube then yes.YouTube wll delet if you try to post full epsiode's. |

I just watched the entire show so far in like 2 days... I suggest watching the whole episodes because it is seriously hilarious! Max has some good scenes but RJ is the main focus of the show.
I'm not sure if Max's character development was decided from the beginning or if it was planned later?
Up until that kiss scene I always thought that there was something missing from his character. He was very one dimensional and making him gay definitely gives the character a whole new side.
I can't help but compare Max to Karofsky.... two jocks... both bullies... closeted gays... lol...

I agree that Max's character is very 1-d. My opinion: I think that Max may be acting out towards R. J. to hide his feelings for him -- it is almost like schoolyard crushes of a preschooler.

I really hope not! They already did that story with Karofsky on Glee, and it sucked there too. At least now we have Max being a bully simply because he is bigger, stronger, and wants alpha male status. Doesn't necessarily have to do with his sexuality. He has a boyfriend who he doesn't seem to mistreat or kiss against his will. So I like that.
As for the show itself, I agree the characterizations are pretty poor all around. IMO, this has a lot to do with the fact that it is not so much a drama/soap, as it is a sitcom. At least that's how I find it. It's all about humor to me, not about developing rich drama or deep characters. So I'm not upset when they stoop to cheap laughs or tired cliches. The show is decently amusing (not all of the time, but most of it) and Jayson Blair is a very hot guy in steamy gay scenes. That's really all I need!

I really don't think that Max has any romantic feelings for RJ at all.I think the reason why he picks on RJ so much is that RJ is a nerd and Max is the popular jock.But I think Max has feelings for Guillermo you could just tell the way they were looking at each other that yeah this is my man.I can't wait for season 3 to see how Max and Guillermo relatonship will go. |
