I found some old Iago clips on You Tube and it told his story prior to his getting together with Max. I never realized that no one knew Iago was gay, except Max. . .after the kiss! The secret came out when Clara saw Iago try to kiss Max and she ran and told Berta Iago was gay. I think Clara is a little jealous of Max. Prior to Clara finding out about Iago's sexual preference. . .didn't she "like" him? Her tune started to change when Max and Iago become a couple.

Prior of finding Iago sexual preference I mulled over on old woman/young guy storyline, plus her best friend son, another type of taboo, but luckily that smooch cleared the way!!! After their very first friendly introduction Max/Iago relationship was a very hostile one!

I think Iago liked Max from the start and wanted a relationship with him.
Max is the one who put his guard up. . .ie: lashing out, arguing with and pushing Iago away.

When do you think Iago realized Iago was in love with Max?
Any specific moment?
I think fell in love with Max first. I just can't pinpoint the specific moment.

I'm not sure on this one too. I agree with you on thinking Iago fell in love with Max first, after Max broke up definitevely with Enric, Iago tried to chat up with Max and after the car stealing and their secret meetings, it was Iago who made the first move asking Max to become his boyfriend (the scene in the park) but I can't think of a specific moment.

The writers didn't make it clear when Iago fell in love with Max, but if I had to make a guess, Iago fell in love with Max after they made love the first time. After that, we could see how much Iago wanted to be with Max again. Their lovemaking wasn't casual for Iago. He was willing to let Max play with his emotions and risk his heart by constantly going after even as Max rejected him constantly.
As for Max, I think that he fell in love with Iago after he broke up with Enric. I always remember the scene where Edu was trying to cheer him up and said that he was down because of Enric and Max said that he wasn't even thinking of Enric. Max was clearly worrying about the missing Iago and his emotions were in turmoil. The kiss that Max and Iago shared in the stolen car simply sealed their love for each other even though they didn't say the words.

Simone - I think I agree with you about when Iago fell in love. After the botched fake-mugging, Iago saw Max as somebody worth the effort - an equal - and after the first kiss I think he knew he was going to have fun with Max no matter what, but I don't think he fell in love until they actually did the deed. I know we don't know anything about Iago's romantic history, but if he was mostly hanging out with tough-guy criminals, he might never have had a real boyfriend before, or been with a nice guy. So maybe Max got to him because he was different.
As for Max, though, I think his feelings for Iago had a lot more to do with why he broke up with Enric than he'd like to admit. The jealousy and wanting to be monogamous was certainly the main reason they split, but I got the impression that he might have given Enric another chance at the end if Iago hadn't already been important to him.

I completely agree. I always thought that the real reason that Max gave Enric the final ultimatum about their open relationship was that he wanted a way out. Initially Max was unhappy, but accepted their open relationship and probably would have lived with the situation for awhile if Iago hadn't come along. Once he gave into his feelings for Iago and their slept together, Max couldn't stop wanting Iago so he brought things to a head with Enric. I'm sure a small part of Max wanted things to work out with Enric, but I bet he was relieved when Enric couldn't really commit to him so he could move on, then Iago ups and disappears which is when I think that Max begins to realize the depth of his feelings for Iago.

I would like to know a little about Iago's realationship background. I wonder if the writers will go there. Stuart, I think you are right about the kind of guys Iago was attacted to. I think he might have had a lot of night stands that meant nothing. He probably also stayed clear of "nice guys".
I think he saw in Max the type of relationship and committment he wanted with another guy.

So maybe Max got to him because he was different. You're completely right. I don't remember the episode but Iago told Max he never had a boyfriend before him, I guess a steady boyfriend to introduce to family and friends, even Iota didn't know Iago was gay, and it was a new thing the life Max was offering him.

Iago told Max he never had a boyfriend before him Ah, I'd either missed that or forgotten it - but it fits his background. No wonder he fell so hard for Max. I love it when the writers actually make the character's motivations work.

Going through my Max/Iago dryspell, I found some clips with English subtitles.
1) When Iago leaves Clara's house and asks Jota a place to stay, Jota jokingly tells Iago he needs to find a girlfriend so he sleep in her bed. Iago doesn't jokingly comment back that he should. Instead he avoids the comment all together. That is why Jota freaked out when he caught Iago and Max on the couch.
2) Clara and Berta talk about Iago, his being good looking, and if he has a girlfriend. (I'm not sure if this was before or after Clara saw Iago try to kiss Max).
Clara asks Berta if Iago has a girlfriend. Berta said when he young he had a girlfriend for a while, but none since then.
They also discuss how handsome (I agree) Iago is and he could have any girl he wants!
Berta also comments that Iago is very open and talks about everything to her, except his love life. . .he doesn't talk about it all!! I wonder why.
3) Clara finally tells Berta Iago is gay. Berta confronts Iago with Clara's comment. Iago doesn't say anything at first, but then tells her he is gay. She asks him how long he has known, he said he as always known. Berta is hurt that he didn't confide in her. He told her that he didn't want to lose her love if she ever found out and rejected him because he was gay. Berta told him that she didn't care if he was gay, he is her son and she loved him. However, she was hurt that he kept a secret from her and wonders what else he is not telling her. I think at that point he was still stealing and hiding the goods at Clara's house.
I haven't found the clip yet where Iago tells Max he has never had a boyfriend before.

Marc Clotet is very good looking. His protrayal of Iago, Max's love interest is good. I love the couple so much. I am also a fan of Bernat.
I think he is straight. But it seems he is comfortable with the role of Iago. Max and Iago have many intimate scenes but I have never seen them in bed. I think Marc is not yet comfortable with the bed scene. I have already watched Max with Enric in a bed scene. I don't know... maybe it is just me but anyway, I love the couple's storyline at El Cor.
