Interview from What's on TV  Emmerdale's Danny Miller explains the desperate despair that causes Aaron to lock himself in a garage, turn on the car engine and wait to die...You’re a straight bloke playing a gay guy. Is it difficult for you to identify with Aaron’s turmoil?"It is hard at times because I’ve never experienced anything like what Aaron’s going through. However it’s getting easier as time goes on and I’m getting to know him better. I also have a couple of gay mates who I ask for advice from time to time. I’ll maybe say, 'How would you react in such-and-such-a situation?'" We thought when Aaron started getting close to Jackson he’d made a bit of a breakthrough... What’s changed things?"Adam seeing him kissing Jackson freaked him out. And when Adam tells Aaron they’re mates regardless and tries to be supportive, Aaron’s horrified. On the surface he’s rude and hostile to Adam, but inside he’s scared, frightened and very worried what will happen now." Is that why he beats up Jackson? Does he blame him for Adam finding out?"He doesn’t blame him, but when Jackson comes to The Woolpack Aaron’s terrified. Jackson touches him affectionately on the back of the neck and Aaron’s positive everyone will take this as a sign that he’s gay and lashes out and attacks Jackson. The police are called and Aaron’s arrested and charged with ABH." Is that how Chas finds out Aaron is gay?"Paddy tells her because he feels out of his depth. He can’t keep it to himself when Aaron so obviously needs help. Chas is shocked but immediately supportive. But Aaron is horrified. It’s another person who knows plus his feelings towards his mother haven’t changed. He doesn’t want anything to do with her and certainly doesn’t want her being ‘there for him’. It’s the last thing he wants. He feels totally betrayed and alone... and locks himself in the garage, then turns the car engine on." Does he really want to kill himself or is it a cry for help?"A bit of both. He’s scared and doesn’t want to die, but he feels backed into a corner and sees killing himself as the only way out..." How close is he to death when Adam sees the smoke coming from the garage and rescues him?"He’s seconds away. With Cain’s help, Adam pulls Aaron’s lifeless body from the car and out of the garage. He then gives Aaron mouth-to-mouth. How ironic is that, given Aaron first realised he was gay when he tried to kiss Adam?" Are things going to get better or worse for Aaron?"He’s depressed and tells Paddy he wishes he’d died but, as far as I know, he doesn’t try to kill himself again. He’s going to have to come to terms with who he is. Paddy and Adam will help him do this. But not his mother. Aaron still wants nothing to do with Chas. It’s his sexuality that’s changed, not his personality." |

The actor, who plays Paddy Kirk in the ITV soap, had to trade punches with Danny - who plays Aaron Livesy - for the scene in which Paddy finds out that Aaron is gay. Speaking on This Morning, he joked: "I'll get him back. He's in the book, my little spite book - we just flew for it." Dominic said the reason he got hurt was because the pair went against advice and rushed into the scene. He said: "Well, we rehearsed it very well and we spent all day doing it, and we had a stuntman there and they said right slowly, do it slowly and then we'll build it up. Then when they said 'action' we went 'aaaaargh' and I got a big fat lip out of it." |

3rd May:
Meanwhile, Chas and Paddy are relaxed in each other's company at Smithy. However, it doesn't go unnoticed when Aaron catches them play fighting. Aaron's left worrying that having Chas around is bringing back unnecessarily fond memories for Paddy.
4th May:
Meanwhile, Paddy's defensive when Aaron notices his increasing affection towards Chas. Not wanting Paddy to get hurt, Aaron kindly convinces Chas that it's time for her to move out.
Chas tentatively smiles when he suggests that she could still stop by on occasion to check on him.
6th May 1:
Paddy's concerned that Aaron's resigned himself to the idea of prison life.
6th May 2:
Meanwhile, Aaron attempts to instill a degree of normality back into his life as he walks Clyde for the first time since his suicide attempt. However, as he stops and stares at the garage, he tenses.
Adam encourages him to go see Cain and Ryan but before he can think twice, Cain suggests that he join them for a brew. Aaron smiles to himself, enjoying being back on familiar territory.
7th May:
Chas is anxious when Cain informs her that Aaron will be returning to work at the garage the following day. Concerned for her son, Chas asks Cain not to let on that he knows about Aaron's sexuality.
Later, Chas confides her worries to Paddy but he assures her that it will be good for Aaron to get his life back on track.

Having been clucked over by Paddy for weeks, Aaron decides it's his turn to show a little concern for Paddy because the vulnerable vet seems to be enjoying Chas's return to the Smithy a little too much. She broke Paddy's heart once and Aaron doesn't want to see her do it again...
May 4th:
Aaron can see that his friend is falling for Chas all over again and knows he has to save Paddy from himself. So he turns to Chas and convinces her to leave and spare Paddy any further heartbreak.
May 6th:
Aaron takes steps to get his life back to normal… It's time he showed his face in the village so he takes Clyde for a walk. But this takes Aaron past the garage where he tried to kill himself. Cain offers Aaron a cup of tea and he stays. It's a small step, but it's a start...

Mon 10 May
Aaron refuses to meet with his solicitor and instead heads to work at the garage. Cain, however, worries that it's too much too soon when Aaron suffers a dizzy spell.
Later, Chas and Paddy despair as Aaron refuses to admit that he's gay, even if there's a remote possibility that it could save him from a prison sentence. With that, Paddy quietly asks Adam to talk to him.
Adam locates Jackson and asks him to drop the charges against Aaron but he's initially evasive. He's shocked, though, when Adam reveals Aaron's suicide attempt.
Arriving at Smithy, Adam and Jackson knock on the door but Aaron tries to slam it in their faces. Aaron's furious and offers no kindness to Jackson, who quickly loses patience. Adam's incredulous at Aaron's stubbornness and exclaims that he just threw away his last chance of putting everything right.
Who'll stop Aaron as he continues on his road to self-destruction? Will Jackson give Aaron another chance?
Tues May 11
Meanwhile, Aaron overhears Paddy talking to Marlon and Rhona about prison. When Aaron interrupts them, Paddy instantly feels guilty. Aaron, however, is thoughtful as he worries about how much his problems are impacting on Paddy's life.
Wed May 12
Meanwhile, Chas is hurt when Aaron insists that he doesn't want or need her in court the following day. Later, Paddy and Chas implore Aaron to reveal the truth about his sexuality.
Aaron, however, is resolute and feigns bravado at being able to handle prison. Will Aaron maintain his macho act? Or come clean?
Thurs May 13
Chas makes a last-ditch attempt to persuade Aaron to change his guilty plea but he's adamant about his decision and heads to court alone.
In the courtroom, Aaron's filled with warmth when he looks up to see the public gallery full of his friends and family. He's stumped, though, when he sees Jackson wander in.
The magistrate suggests that the case goes no as they have a guilty plea but asks the court if there is any further research. Feeling the pressure, Aaron looks up and sees the pain etched on his Paddy and Chas's faces. Will Aaron save himself by confessing the truth?
8pm
Aaron stuns his family and friends when he tentatively comes clean about the real reason he attacked Jackson.
Following his revelation, Aaron's surprised when the court decides that he should be given a 150-hour community order as opposed to a custodial sentence.
Later, celebrating at Smithy, Adam lightly teases Aaron but it's clear that he's disappointed about Jackson leaving. Adam tries to assure Aaron that he did the right thing but it's clear that he's full of fear and regret as he begins to question whether he just made the biggest mistake of his life.
Can Aaron move on now everyone knows his secret? Or will he regret coming out?
Fri May 14
Meanwhile, Aaron's horrified when Chas shows him the newspaper article about his court case. He's anxious when he realises that everyone knows his secret.
Later, Chas and Paddy are pleased when Aaron resolves that he wants nothing to change in his life. With that, Aaron reveals that he intends to return to work the following day.
