He fascinates me. There's so much that's yet to be understood about him - about why he is the way he is. There are very few things in British soap that haven't been done and I'm not sure that I've seen a dark, angry, young character who finds himself in a position of self-loathing because of what and who he fears he may be. It'll be a story that plays out for months - I've no desire to play a quick hit. It's a journey of discovery." From the near-kiss with Adam, what's Aaron's next move?"After the moment with Adam, Aaron's stood on shifting sand. He's in a state of denial. What I don't want it to be is a story where there's a girl that gets her heart ripped out - we've seen that before. Aaron may use a girl - or girls - as shields on his journey but I promise that it won't be a love story of man/girl, girl invests everything and ends up heartbroken. It's Aaron's story about his struggle and fear of what other people might think. He's a tortured soul who pushes those closest to him away through fear. The story will bring in Chas and Paddy and it'll start to explore the Bartons, too - Adam and Aaron's friendship and Holly, therein. I´m absolutely new to this story line, so this question may sound stupid or ignorant, but I have read almost all of those spoiler articles and is it possible that Aaron will actually find himself (in the end) as a gay man, but will not be in the relationship with Adam? That this short "episode" with Adam will be just a way for him to became self conscious about his sexuality/personality, but nothing else?
What do you think, people?

Just got this from someone on the fmforums   Aaron just loves finding any excuse to get his top off infront of Adam doesn't he?
Anyway, on another note I have asked my friend who works at Emmerdale if anything does ever happen between the two, and I'm afraid it's a glum no.
"Adam is definitely not gay, and will infact start seeing Scarlett soon" so she says.
I have no idea who Scarlett is. |

It was just nice to be involved. Aaron's the one playing the guy who had to kiss me but it was a good little storyling to be involved in, definitely." Did you have any reservations?"I just wanted to see how he was going to play it and what was the situation. Are we going to be a village couple now or is it just one of those things? [Gavin] let us know beforehand what was going on and how it was going to all play out. He let us know if we had any problems, we could always come and talk to him and he would help us out, but I read the scripts and it was just a nice little script to be involved in." Were you pleased it was a moment rather than a full-blown kiss?"Yeah. I mean it's not an easy thing to be kissing - me and Danny get on really well so if we did have to kiss it might have been a bit awkward! I think the scene will look alright because it's not too much." You and Danny live together - was it difficult filming the moment?"It's just acting but we both got on with it. We had a laugh about it and didn't take it too seriously, but it was a good shoot. As soon as the director went 'cut' in the back of the car, YMCA came on! We just had a laugh about it." How will this story be different to other stories of the same ilk?"I think it's not going to be one of those things where he's gay and he just comes out, it's an ongoing thing that he's going to fight with. He doesn't know whether he is or he's not. I don't think he's going to just come out and say, 'I'm gay', because Aaron's character isn't like that. He's confused and he doesn't know what's going on. I think it'll be nice because they're going to let him come to terms with the whole situation slowly. He's not going to be going round every guy in the village trying to kiss them - it's more in-depth than that."
It's well known that Emmerdale has an older audience - how do you think fans of the soap will react to the storyline?"I think it'll go down well - it's a good storyline to be involved in. I think older viewers will come to terms with it. It's a difficult storyline but it's more difficult for Danny to be playing the role he's playing in it because obviously it's more about him and his character. I think the viewers will enjoy it anyway. Knowing Danny's character and how he is, then all of a sudden these emotions are coming in, I think they'll follow it through and I know he's doing a good job of it." Will older people struggle to understand where Aaron's coming from?"I'm not too sure. I suppose so but once they know he's not just coming out - because there are loads of kids out there who are confused in their sexuality and don't know what's going on or who they fancy - that's what we want to get across. It's not just about being gay but it's the fact he's not really sure whether he is, so he's trying different things and doesn't know where he's going. It's all about the struggle and I think they will understand." What was your girlfriend's reaction when you heard that you were going to be involved in this storyline?"She was fine about it - it's just a job and we have to get on and do it. We just laughed about it and we all get on alright anyway so it's no problem." How does Adam react in the episodes following the near-kiss?"Adam's in shock because Aaron's his best mate in the village and he's got in a relationship with him, then all of a sudden he comes on to him and Adam's like, 'Woah!' He needs to take a step back. He's not got a problem with gay people, but why's he doing this? Adam's like, 'Listen mate, I don't mind if you're gay, just tell me'. He wants to help him but because he's coming onto his sister and he's not admitting it and he's confused, it's winding him up. He wants Aaron to tell him the truth. Eventually, I think he comes out in the end. Adam's just taken aback." Do you think Adam starts questioning his own sexuality?"No, Adam's straight and he knows what he wants but he's basically taken aback. He can't believe the situation because [Aaron] likes his sister then he comes on to him - What's going on? He's just confused, really." Adam's obviously concerned for his sister – how does he try to keep Aaron at bay?"He's not happy about the whole situation after that night. He's confused, he doesn't know whether he did try to come onto him or not, or whether he's put one and two together - then he's suddenly trying to come on to [Adam's] sister. He's like, 'I need you to tell me the truth, otherwise I'm going to have to tell her'. He tells people but because of Darren's character nobody believes him. He's the last person you would think could possibly be gay so he starts to doubt himself, then all of a sudden he finds Aaron and his sister pretty much in bed together. Adam has to say, 'I need to tell you the truth', but no-one believes him! Because no-one believes him he's thinking that maybe he's not." Would you have been happy if it was your character rather than Aaron's struggling with his sexuality?"I would have enjoyed playing it - it's a great storyline to be involved in with the confusion and everything that's going on - how he's misunderstood - it would be a great process to go through. I know Danny's enjoying doing it because it's an emotional part to play, he's a confused lad and loads of people go through it at our age so a lot of people will relate to it." |

Here's a re-cap of some characters stories which might have a bearing on A&A.....
Nikhil - will explore his first relationship with a woman from the village but that'll bring up a few surprises of it's own - not least for Nikhil.
Bartons - John Barton will have a bit of a roving eye - they will be tested collectively as a family.
Andy - will find himself a new partner - he's not really put his hands up yet or apologised for his actions and he'll be forced to - (presumably referring to his wife battering stuff)
Zak & Lisa - facing some real family tests
Marlon & Paddy - a cracking story for late 2010 - they're friendship is tested like it's never been tested before.
And building on this year - Aaron's battle with his sexuality - it's dark and dangerous but it's also touching & poignant - it's very real for a character like that - it impacts on Paddy, it changes his life.
wasn't entirely sure whether they meant it changes Paddy's life or Aaron's life with that comment
Not sure whether it is significant or not but when GB was talking about Aaron's story, Adam featured more in the clip that was playing than Aaron
There will be a couple of new characters - some visiting to guest in stories, maybe a couple of longer stays.

"Speaking of Ryan's forthcoming plotlines, Sutton revealed: "He's going to have a lot more to do in the coming months. He's got to come to terms with the fact that he's got this new family now and this father who vanishes - he doesn't really get a chance to talk to him before he disappears. He strikes up a relationship with Will, my new little brother which is really nice and Ryan's got a lot coming up with Nathan."
