I didn't know whether to laugh or cry while watching the July 7th episode. I wanted to like it (and parts I did enjoy) and I wanted to feel for them (like the strong hug at the end of the ep at the farm) but I think more than anything I want the story to move forward instead of going in circles. Oh and for those who saw the whole episode... seriously, what was up with that "British" accent?

Let me get this straight. If they ask but you don't tell... you can join; if they don't ask but you do tell... you can still join. Is this the writers' way of sharing their views on the policy? First the Pride party... now this... kudos to the writers (not for the writing, but for their guts).
That said... the writers have dragged the boys by the short and curly into the most mind-boggling maze known to mankind. Unfortunately, the writers lost the map... and the boys (and us) are stuck in there... It's time to send an Army helicopter to get them out.
Noah: 1. needs a shower and a change of clothes; 2. needs a place to stay; 3. needs a job; and 4. needs to re-apply to University.
Sorting all that could take us into Fall 2009... but fear not... I'm sure dahlin gran, she with all those contacts, will take care of everything.
b-chick That hug at the end was nice. Thank god for small mercies.

The ending Nuke scene of yesterday's episode would have had so much more power for them as a couple if the rest of the Nuke scenes hadn't been so God awful stupid. The recruiters were idiots. The exchange in the signing office was suppose to be meaningful and socio-political but it ended up not making sense. Noah's justification for joing just got more and more stupid with each word. "It's just a few years..." Whatever...

Actually he came back at the end but to me it didn't seem like it was because of Luke but because he couldn't be himself in the Army...anyone else get that feeling? did I read that wrong? You are definitely NOT the only one. I thought that as well--that they were asking for complete honesty about him and his life...EXCEPT for that one thing that, while it doesn't DEFINE him, it does influence who he is as a person. And if they didn't want ALL of him, and everything he is/stands for, then maybe he doesn't belong. Getting to keep Luke just seemed like a perk, somehow. Of course, that could just be the half-assed writing. For all I know him not going was supposed to be because he realized everything Luke said was true. Unfortunately, it just didn't FEEL that way.

Let me get this straight. If they ask but you don't tell... you can join; if they don't ask but you do tell... you can still join. Is this the writers' way of sharing their views on the They CANNOT ask, so you don't HAVE to tell. If they DO ask, you DO NOT have to tell, and you can make a Federal Case of it since the law dictates they cannot. If you spontaneously TELL anyway, the recruiter is SUPPOSED verify your statement (ask you to repeat it, because TECHNICALLY the law is "don't ask, don't tell" not "don't tell, don't ask" and since YOU'VE opened up the can o'worms, they can dig it out) and then s/he is SUPPOSED to indicate your admission on the forms and let the people at MEPS reject you. However, it DOES seem like they have a quota (my sister, once a Marine recruiter, said she had an "unofficial" one...that keeping that job sort of relied upon meeting) and it is more likely that they will pretend not to hear you and advise you to shut the hell up...or transfer your entire application to a different recruiting officer who DID NOT hear you and advise you to SHUT THE HELL UP. (Most likely transfer because they also have to swear an oath that what they've signed off on/filled out is the entire truth. Aka: hand it off to someone else who has no idea for reasons of Plausible Deniability.)

Good to know I wasn't the only one that gathered that feeling from the episode... Getting Luke should not be the perk but the Grand Prize...I think we all feel that way on the forum and the writers might think that too they just need to convey it better. I know they can because there is another love story developing that I'm sooo loving right now (Jack and Janet.) I can't stop watching when they're on and I can't get enough...so this proves to me the writers can do better... to Bonobochick: OMG the cheesy Brit accent was hilarious...that guy is soo velveta...if he had a theme song it would be 'rico, suave'

to Bonobochick: OMG the cheesy Brit accent was hilarious...that guy is soo velveta...if he had a theme song it would be 'rico, suave' It's like the accent comes and goes plus it's not a distinctive regional or social level related accent. It's like a generic [kind of] British accent that has no real authenticity and it's just silly sounding. Maybe I watch too many British shows and it's not even where I know all of the British accents by region but that one he's sporting is really obviously generic and completely non-distinct. If the actor is actually British and that accent is real, I'd be flabbergasted cause it's terrible. The character I don't mind at all (I actually liked the lunch date with Carly and how smoothly he handled Jack) but the fact that the accent is questionable and that everyone keeps commenting on the fact that he's British is just makes it more of a sticking point.

I didn't feel the last episode at all. It didn't even feel a bit natural... I watched it, but with a lot of . I don't know exactly why, but it just annoyed me... Noah telling Luke it would only be for a couple of years -> Knowing Noah wouldn't enlist anyway made everything seem even more stupid. There was no real build up or real angst, just some weird conversations. (imo) I know they're trying and maybe they want to make Nuke more interesting by giving them short stories that are different than the other ones, but it's not working for me. But hey, maybe it's the effort that counts .

Now I'm gonna feel bad if this British guy, i think his name was Neal happens to be really British and has such a horrible accent, gove'nor, LOL
I have to say I agree the with the fact that I rather Carly look for someone other than Holden. they are nauseating! can't get enough of Jack w/ Janet hope they are on tomorrow, I actually don't like jack that much without her, LOL...
There is so little Nuke this week that I don't even know what else to say that hasn't been said about this blahhh episode...I hope we have some relationship development in the future I'd like to see some dates, to see Noah try to treat Luke right, the arguments of trying to have a normal relationship after ALL that's happened...

I found out on another board that the actor is indeed a Scot but has lived in Los Angeles since 1990 so that could explain the weird accent. I was stunned by that news. There was little Noah/Luke this week but I love the Casey/Emily story so the drama that has been going on with that storyline the last few das has been GOOD.

AfterElton's liveblog of July 14th episode. Can I just say I love when Luke is called Luciano? Cause I really do. And for those watching the entire episodes... Daytime Confidential has a write up of the Casey/Emily vs Tom/Margo scene from last week. ETA: I just watched the episode... I found today rather uninspiring though there were three things I did like related to this storyline (the Holden/Carly/Jack and Neal stuff was better): 1. Luke being called Luciano. I love that name. 2. The fit of Noah's shirt. Yes, please. ;D 3. Luke having a good hair day. Luke setting up that foundation/endowment fund so he and Noah can work together was amusing cause what's the point of spending more time together if they don't ever bother to take advantage of it?? I remember being 18/19 and I certainly spent more time undressed with my boyfriend than dressed. TPTB really need to stop writing this couple in circles and move them forward.

I actually rolled my eyes when I heard them mentioning 'Emma's rules' again! How hard can it be to find some alone time and space... Seems like the rest of Oakdale doesn't have a problem with that...

Seems like the rest of Oakdale doesn't have a problem with that... But maybe the rest of America would... Watched a bit... fast-forwarded a bit... then daaahlink gran showed up... stopped watching. I'll have to rely on your comments to keep me posted on what has to be the most boring, poorly written (gay?) story on TV.

Overall it was a boring ep for Nuke...
These are the only two teens I know that have no problem being abstinent...they should campaign... in the same episode jack/janet broke that rule...

Maybe I'm just being Pollyannaish about this, but I'm thinking Nuke will actually have sex next week. It would make sense for Luke to be like, "Fuck this, my Dad is cheating on my mom with her best friend whose husband is screwing his girlfriend at the farm in violation of Emma's rules. If these dysfunctional people can boink all the time, why not me and my boyfriend who are completely in love with each other?" Kind of romantic. They see all this pain and misery and failure all around them, realize how lucky they are, and just go for it. Or maybe they'll just talk about lunch meats again. Whatev.

The VH forum is a FLAME right now. Not surprised about the VH forum. Can you PM the juiciness? I smell another campaign coming... TWOP is dead silent at the moment which is equally telling.

They're doing the campaign that RogerRocks posted about on the TWoP forum yesterday. Nothing new about today's bullshit and blatent double-standard of an episode.

It's all about Puberty kissing more than Nuke did.

Ok, I just watched it and I have to say: not as bad as I expected. The scenes between Luke and Noah I mean. Luke/Holden/Carly is just blehhhhgggg. I really liked the acting; Van and Jake actually saved this lame story imo. Even though I think it's beyond stupid that Puberty will probably have sex sooner than Nuke, right now, at this moment, I bought Noah's story. But only for now... They better find themselves a nice spot where they can have their loving first time. Nobody ever said it had to be at the farm... Go on weekend trip to a nice cabin or something! And Luke saying he thought 'it was lame' made me laugh out loud. He said what we thought.

Agreed, credit where credit is due. The mini kisses were really cute, the acting was good, and they addressed some real concerns. Now if I didn't have to worry that after this important convo chances are that they are going to disppear again for several episodes it would be even better.

i really liked and enjoyed this episode.....i found it very romantic....even the nervousness of both luke & noah seemed natural...(as in 2 people in love talking about their first time). noah's explanation about the difference between luke & maddie was wonderful..."happy ending" blew me away. now i know...if this was reality they would've had sex by now (like every other couple gay or straight)....but this is not reality....and it's not QAF and it's not on showtime or hbo....it is on a major american network at 2pm in the afternoon....watched mostly by housewives, soccor moms and grandmothers. and yes i agree there is a double standard going on here...but lately i have been going back and researching other gay storylines in american soap operas and in a little as 15-20 years ago they wouldnt even have two gay guys in the same scene together....let alone talk and show affection for each other....like luke and noah are doing right now.... and in a way...them not having sex yet....gives me hope about them....if u can understand that....like when they finally do it....it will be something so wonderful and romantic...or at least i am hoping thats what it is. of course if they do the "first time" off camera and talk about it afterwards....i will come down like a ton of bricks. I'm am not saying make a porno.....i am just saying handle it at least as good as the straight counterparts. All in all i really enjoyed thursdays interaction of nuke....and to me ...it was well worth the one week wait.
