I like that they are doing it this way, because it adds more drama. In a way, Christian feels threatened, he thinks that he has to give Syed a family, or risk losing him. I want to see them work through this, and then get married for the right reasons.

I, too, like the added drama. But, Christian is so in love with Syed that I think this is a natural next step. Out of curiosity, why do you think Christian feels threatened?

Well, there is a long history of Syed choosing family over Christian when forced to make a choice (repeatedly during the Amira saga and afterwards during the "de-gaying" storyline), so it makes a certain psychological sense for Christian to worry that, if Zainab and Masood come back into Syed's life, he might be displaced, and to feel an obligation to provide a replacement family for Syed. And Syed has backtracked so many times before that I can imagine that even a showdown like what happened this week in the Vic wouldn't be totally reassuring. Besides, Christian has always had a slightly desperate side (maybe "desperate" is too strong a word?), so it would make sense that he would worry about losing what he had finally gotten. You're right, caitlinp, that this way does add more drama. I suppose I was hoping that it would develop a bit differently, but then I guess I should have known better, given what show we're watching.

I'm liking the drama that they give them without breaking them up. I'm hoping down the road that Syed will find out that he has a child and that will be the child that him and Christian will raise together.

I love that they are going to talk through their problems, and I really want to see Syed stand up for himself, but I wonder where are they going with Christian's insecurities and issues with jealousy.

Thanks for the new spoilers gaysoapfan, Why, why are the writers keep writing Christian so weak and insecure? He's not appealing at all. If I was Syed I will run away as fast as I can

If they didn't make Christian insecure there wouldn't be any reason for Syed to finally stand up for himself to his family.

But this way we will never know for sure if Syed is doing it because he really loves Christian or because he feels guilty/obligated to him.

Christian is insecure, and I don't think he is insecure in general only when it comes to his relationship with Syed, but I don't think he is weak. I think he is a strong, proud man who is madly in love and always has been. But, this relationship really put him through the ringer in the beginning with Syed and his family, beliefs, etc...understandably so. I think these two will be ok in the end though, just some things to work out.

I'm not crazy about how needy Christian has become, but I'm happy that they are showing him being vulnerable. I was never a fan of how Christian used to be, he was too arrogant and selfish for my tastes. He also didn't seem to be a character with a lot of depth. I find the current depiction of the character to be a little more realistic, especially since this is pretty much the first time that he's ever been in love, or in a real relationship.
My main problem is that I don't want this just to be Christian's story. At times they've shown that Syed is growing, and starting to stand up for himself, and I want to see more of that. I want to see Syed become more of a three dimensional character, and just not Christian's boyfriend.

do we know for sure that they're getting married?? because from the spoilers I'm starting to get the impression that a break up is more likely. Syed is still not confortable with being gay and he is certainly not ready for a new marriage

do we know for sure that they're getting married?? because from the spoilers I'm starting to get the impression that a break up is more likely. Syed is still not confortable with being gay and he is certainly not ready for a new marriage I think to Eastenders credit, this is the story that they are telling. Getting married is just an event, the story is what happens to get them to that point. It makes no sense to write a story where Syed is ready for something as big as marriage, or where he doesn't have any insecurities. It's been less than a year that he's been with Christian, and he has to deal with over twenty years of being taught that there is something morally wrong with being gay, or that two gay men can't raise a child. I don't think the end result is a breakup, I hope what we see is Syed admitting to, and dealing with his issues. That's not something that soaps usually show, and it's not something that viewers expect, or have the patience to watch.

I agree, caitlinp. I wasn't sure about this storyline at the start--but I've been increasingly happy with the direction that it is going. Finally, Christian and Syed are dealing with some issues!

I been loving Chyred lately because they have been on alot and I hope it contiune. I love them as a couple and they go thur what real couple go thur. I can't get enough of them. I'm sad because they want be on tomorrow but they will be the next day. I think they have so much chemistry and they're both very attractive guys, but I must admit I favor John a little more.

How can Christian understand Muslim culture, if Syed won't teach or talk to him about it? This is about sharing each others lives and that means talking about your past and how you were raised by your families.

Thanks, Caitlinp for posting the new spoilers. I think the current adoption plans are going to fail, because Christian and Syed are not on the same page about it. I also think that Kirkwood's probably trying to get the actress, who portrayed Amira back on the show for a short-term stay (later on in the year). Amira and her (and Syed's) baby exists somewhere in the show's writers combined imaginations. They're going to play an important role in Christian & Syed's (along with the rest of the Masood family) future.

Agreed, Difficult Diva. I, for one, would love to see Preeya come back. I was very fond of Amira, and I was disappointed that her exit was so rushed.

Preeya tweeted about running into Mark a few weeks ago, and she said that their characters are divorced. For some reason, given her mistake, I didn't get the feeling that she's been in talks to return to the show.
There's a spoiler in one of the current magazines that says that Syed will tell Masood that he's having doubts about adopting. I'm looking forward to that scene, because the Masood's are at their best when they are acting like normal people.

I had heard Christian and Syed were going to be breaking up for good, has anyone else heard this awful rumor as well? Not as far as I know all I have read is that Amira is coming back and due to start filming in a few weeks. Oh and Pat the actress who plays her is living as well as a few others.
