Can I just say that I love, love, love Sjored's relationship with Lucas.

Thanks for the vid! I hope you all had a Happy New Year!! It looks like they are going to show Lucas's trauma for a little while, and that might be good. I rather like seeing his family and friends rally around him to support him right now. Between Menno's abuse and being kidnapped, Lucas is breaking down and needs help. I'm guessing that whoever he ends up with next will help him heal as well.

I'm glad that the people who care about Lucas know that he's struggling now. I like Sjoerd and Lucas' relationship, too, and hope they show it some more. I suspect the writers are putting Sjoerd in this role of helping Lucas because Noud is busy with his own story line now. Notice how they keep Noud in the background (literally) during the scenes.
I'm not too happy that Lucas' story now always focuses on him being a victim.

All caught up now!! See, I had said that the right mood would strike, sooner or later!! Poor Lucas, and also poor Nina. The amount of times this people have been hospitalized/in a coma/badly wounded/paralyzed etc is astonishing! LOL Can anyone tell me how the Anton/Rikki thing was wrapped up? Before Menno left (and before I stopped watching the episodes on the RTL site), she was in love/obsessed with him, and crawling in his bed, and accusing him of doing things to her... how did that storyline end?

Thanks, Mark! I'm not sure that reminding Lucas of Edwin is going to lift his spirits. Bianca might as well have said, "Oh yes, and don't forget that on top of all your other sorrows the love of your life is dead." But it was sweet that she was there to comfort Lucas and Janine. In the Rikki-Anton thing, Rikki never backed down from her accusation against Anton even after Bianca, Wiet and others stopped believing her. It went to court, but the court found in favor of Anton. Sjoerd still believed Rikki, but later Rikki felt guilty and admitted to Sjoerd that she was lying about Anton assaulting her. Sjoerd was furious with her and it looked like he would never again have anything to do with her, but then Rikki slit her wrists and almost died and Sjoerd and everyone else forgave her. Now she's back to her old sweet, well-adjusted self. The end.

I think Lucas being reminded of Edwin is okay, its not ideal, but Bianca just wanted to let him know that he wasn't abnormal for having panic attacks. I do love that Bianca was there for Lucas though, because she always treated him like another son.

It all started with Rik going to prison. I think Rikki was/is depressed. Her mother was dead and her father went to prison for 14 years. I believe she's still seeing a therapist. But I do think that story wrapped up too fast.
I really liked how Bianca was there for Lucas. At first I thought it was strange because we do know Edwin used to own a dog (Willem). But then I realized it's not strange at all. Because I've experienced something similar when I was about six years old. A neighbor's dog chased me down the street and jumped up against me. I fell against a fence. From that moment on I was scared of dogs. I didn't have panic attacks, but I just didn't like to be around them. At all. This went on for years. Until we got a dog of our own.

Why has no one ever translated and compiled the complete Lucas and Edwin story line?

Why has no one ever translated and compiled the complete Lucas and Edwin story line? GTSTfanMark did post translations for Lucas's entire storyline from the first appearance of Ferry Doedens back in 2009. Unfortunately, due to copyright problems (as far as I am aware) he had to remove the videos from youtube. The show graciously allows him to post the current storyline through the show's facebook page.

Yeah, Mark did an awesome job with all those clips. It's really too bad they couldn't stay up . I don't remember the details, but I think it was a side effect of something RTL did across all their shows on YouTube. YT has a very broken system that unfairly favors those who claim a copyright (and, for most practical purposes, almost completely circumvents legal concepts of fair use (which may or may not work in this case - I'm not a lawyer )). At any rate, the folks on GTST themselves have been great about Mark's work.

Yeah, I feel very lucky to have watched the Lucas-Edwin storyline as it was happening. I would be very frustrated if I was discovering GTST just now and I found out that there is no way of watching that storyline anymore! Maybe one day the folks on GTST will allow Mark (if he still has the translated videos, that is) to upload that soryline on Facebook too? Or is it outside the realm of possibilities?

Yeah... I still have all the translated videos. But I think that would be a little too much work. Right now I'm just glad I no longer have months of episodes to translate. Part of the Lucas/Edwin story has been released on DVD (without subtitles). Season 20: www.bol.com/nl/p/goede-tijden-slechte-tijden-seizoen-20/1002004013002293/Season 21: www.bol.com/nl/p/goede-tijden-slechte-tijden-seizoen-21/9200000020342279/Ferry's version of Lucas was introduced in the last week of season 19 so you miss the first three episodes. Edwin was introduced in season 21 (the one that ended with Noud and Nina's wedding). Season 22 (Lucas' coma, Edwin's relationship with Ron, the Ebola virus) has not been released yet. Endemol (they produce the show) has been nothing but kind about this. They, unlike some other shows, understand that you guys (an international fanbase) is something good. I think they're actually proud of it. It's great they're still letting me do this. For almost six years now.

Yeah, I understand that it's way too much work, especially given that the show is an ongoing thing and there are always new episodes for Mark to translate and upload, so he's already too busy as it is! I just feel a little sorry for all the people who will never be able to watch that storyline (watching something in a language you don't understand a word of is just not the same, and that's why I don't see non-Dutch people ever buying the dvds). That's why I said I feel a little lucky to not have missed it (just like with Deniz/Roman from AWZ, which was made to disappear from YT too). I wish copyright issues didn't exist!

As a writer I can't say that I wish copyright issues didn't exist. But there is a difference between someone translating your work so that others may see it (without profit) and someone stealing your work and claiming it as their own. That's one of the reasons fair use was invented, but Youtube doesn't seem to make that distinction which is sad.

Of course artists of any kind have to protect their work. But I don't agree with translated storylines being taken down from YT (DeRo, anything GTST). They don't harm anyone. Sure, they don't bring incomes to the networks/producers in any way, but they don't harm anyone either (in terms of money), since they are aimed at an international audience who could not see them otherwise. You'd think the people behind these soaps would be happy/flattered by the international demand for it, but no. Sigh.

Thanks, Mark! That was quite an interesting meeting between Lucas and Ludo. I definitely didn't expect a scene like that. Ludo looked pleased that Lucas had come. It could be interesting if a stronger connection develops between those two. Maybe I will get my wish and this is a story about Lucas finding some inner strength to be strong and protect his loved ones.

Why has no one ever translated and compiled the complete Lucas and Edwin story line? I actually have the entire storyline, but I found it on a website where someone uploaded it for download. It was a couple years ago, so I'm not sure if its still available, but you might try searching through Google. No one besides Mark posts GTST (at least from what I've seen), since he actually has permission to do so on FB.

So annoying... I had an episode ready to upload but now it turns out I deleted the subtitled video instead of the version without subtitles. I'll have to translate it again. Thankfully the episode was only 4 minutes long.
