I think it's gonna be a very sad movie though. I think it kinda comes out at the right time esp with the Prop 8 manifesto. I posted the trailer initially at the gay movies thread. I would love to get the book to read but I guess it's not sold over in my country.

Pity it will only reach Lifetime viewers, aka mostly open-minded straight and gay women.

I will watch the movie as soon as I can though

I think I need to go to my big bookstores to ask before buying off online coz the shipping fee is really EXPENSIVE for me.

^Good that you know my country. Hahaha. Coz I have a general perception that when people first heard of the word "Singapore", they will go "Huh?" or "Is it a part of China or something?". Hahaha.

That movie was amazing. The ending really got to me, and my friend and I was hook from the moment we tune in.

I agree with the review bonobochick posted. The movie format really forced them to rush the storyline, but the movie was still great. And to add my superficial touch, omg Bobby and his BF were HOT HOT HOT.

That was a gut wrenching movie. I REALLY hated the mother for most of the movie. I realize that there are a lot of women like her out there, but I felt that her actions DID drive her son to suicide. My mother used to "adopt" gay men and lesbians whose parents had turned their backs on them. She used to host large meals on holidays like thanksgiving and cook for anyone that didn't have a family to go home to. She would hug anyone that needed it. She passed out free condoms and would always tell the boys to "play safe". Many of them called her "mom". I can't help but to compare MY mother to the mother in the movie. I realize that Bobby's mother got there eventually, but it was a shame that she couldn't have gotten there in time to save his life.

Lou I agree with you, I think that Bobby was driven to suicide due to his mother. and lucrece you're right, Bobby and his Bf were hot Overall, I think that it was a fantastic movie.

If we could decide who we loved, it would be much simpler, but less magical.

I thought it was well done and I just wanted to hug poor Bobby. I know what it's like to be in his shoes and I wouldn't wish that on anyone.
Sadly his mother couldn't accept him for who he was in time for him to still be alive. It's truly tragic that it took him taking his own life for her to realize her mistake. But then again it could have been more tragic if she hadn't changed her ways. That she is fighting for acceptance, tolerance, love, and help for other Bobbys out there.
Because Bobby is one of many young people who are gay, bi, or transgenders who need support and love as they find their own voice. The bible was written by mortal men in a different time. And then that writing was interpreted and translation over and over the years as it grew. I mean as I grew up in Sunday class, even some printings of the bibles in class were different.
Let this movie be a teacher for those who don't understand people who are gay.

I know some members are interested in this kind of thing: The Sat 24 9 pm premiere had an estimated 3.8 million viewers, while the Sunday repeat had 2.3 million viewers. Since the movie was on a cable network, these numbers are quite excellent.

Wow, I wonder if that's the highest rating for a lifetime movie.
