You and I By: nana
Christian checked the coffee machine making sure the coffee was still warn, he poured orange juice into two glass cups, he flipped the hot cakes in the pan, and scrambled the eggs. He tried to limit the noise he made knowing Olli was a light sleeper, and hoped that he would not wake up in the next few minutes.
The slam of the door made Christian jump and turn to find Judith pulling her sweater that had gotten caught in the door, Christian gave her a stern look, “If you wouldn’t shut the door so forcefully your sweater would not get caught—and be more quiet, Olli is still asleep.”
Judith rolled her eyes at Christian’s comments ignoring his reprimand, “Olli is still asleep? I wanted to give him his birthday present.”
Christian placed a plate on the tray, “You can leave it on the table next to the gifts from Lydia and Olivia.”
“Olivia was here? I was expecting Olli to be up having a grand breakfast on his birthday, I know I woke up a little late but I would think you would wait for me considering your taking Olli away for the day and—”she continued to oblivious to Christian’s inpatient expression.
“Are you done?” Christian finally interrupted her, “Olli had a long night,” he admitted bashfully, but the meaning of the statement was lost on Judith, “What was he doing?”
Christian wasn’t sure how to answer that the question and was glad he didn’t have too since it seemed Judith finally understood, “Ah! You had this planned, tire out Olli the night before so he wouldn’t wake-up early enough and you could make him breakfast—how sweet!”
Ignoring her, Christian finished up the last touches on the tray, before heading to his room, “I’ll see you later Judith.”
She smiled leaving the gift on the table.
Christian struggled with the door and the tray but managed to get in the room with minimal noise. He walked towards the bed, moving the stuff-animal chicken to place the tray on the night stand. Carefully he pulled the cover half off from Olli.
Olli tossed a little as he felt the blankets move. He felt a warm touch on his shoulder and smiled. He felt the warmness move down the middle of his chest, and sighed in pleasure. Slowly he opened his eyes watching as Christian’s lips were tracing kisses down his chest to his abdomen. He lightly moved his arm to touch Christian’s hair, “This is a nice way to wake-up each morning.”
“Happy Birthday,” Christian mumbled into Olli’s skin, “Happy Birthday,” he said working his way back up to Olli’ lips capturing them as Olli parted them slightly as he was about to respond to the well wishes.
“Well this birthday is getting of to the right start.” He smiled pulling Christian back down for another kiss, “Maybe we should finish what you started,” Olli suggested in between the kisses.
Reluctantly Christian pulled away, “We will, but you have to eat breakfast first.”
Sighing in fake irritation, “Fine—I thought you liked me all weak.” He teased.
Christian sat up to get the tray, “I do, but you’ll need your energy today.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Olivia finished up her latte while waiting for Judith to come down. She knew if she asked Christian what he planned for Olli today, he would not tell her a thing. Judith was her best hope even though the women didn’t like her. She wanted to make sure her cousin had a great birthday.
She practically jumped out of her seat when she saw her come into the bar, “Judith!”
Judith who was already running late didn’t have the time for another argument with Olivia, “What?” she asked in a short tone.
“I come in peace.” She raised her right hand, “I just want to know if Christian is planning anything for Olli tonight? I mean if he was, he probably wouldn’t invite me.”
“I wouldn’t blame him,” said Judith, and saw a glimmer of hurt in Olivia’s eyes, “He isn’t” she quickly said, “He’s planning some all day outing I think. They will be back late, that’s all I know—I have to go.”
Before Olivia had a chance to answer Judith was out the door, “Outing?” she said to herself.
“Talking to yourself again Olivia,” Gregor mocked her as he passed by with a tray.
Ignoring him she continued thinking, “No just thinking of Plan B.” she said leaving No Limits.
~~~~~~~
Two hours later Christian and Olli were ready to leave after numerous attempts to get out of bed and a thorough shower.
“Where are we going?” Olli asked for the third time.
“I’m not telling you that would defeat the surprise. I’m just hoping you like it.” Christian said as he grabbed both their coats.
Olli smiled as the left their apartment, “We need to stop by to see Charlie she’s working all day and asked if I could go by and pick up my gift.”
Christian stopped in the hallway; he wasn’t planning on a detour.
Olli looked a little hurt that Christian would not want visit Schneiders together, “You can wait in the car.” He said impatiently walking away, taking his coat from Christian.
Christian caught-up to Olli grabbing his forearm, “Wait, I didn’t say that.” He took Olli’s hand, “Lets go we don’t want to keep auntie Charlie waiting.”
~~~~~~~
Charlie waited for Oliver to arrive. She wanted to take her nephew out for his birthday but could not get away from the restaurant, she knew Olli understood and would make it up to him. She was surprised when she saw Olli arrive with Christian. She watched as Christian whispered something to Olli and headed to the direction of the restroom.
She couldn’t help noticing the happiness in her nephew’s eyes and wondered if Christian had something to do with that, she wasn’t going to question Olli, especially on his birthday but she would wait till tomorrow to give him the third degree.
“Happy Birthday Olli!”
“Thank you,” he hugged her tightly.
“How’s your day been going so far?” she asked him as she poured him a glass of wine, “We need to toast,” she explained.
“Good, very good.” Olli smiled, noticing Charlie had put out three glasses, “Are you expecting someone?” he asked.
“Christian,” she explained as she saw him come back out to the main room, she waved him over.
“Hello Charlie.” He smiled at her, then towards Olli.
Charlie handed them both a glass, “To Oliver on his special day and too many many many more—Cheers!”
“CHEERS!” the clink their glasses and enjoyed the wine.
~~~~~
The boys left Charlie’s place shortly after the toast. Christian noticed the looks that Charlie was given him but it didn’t make him nervous at all. He had convinced Olli to let him drive. He hoped his plan went accordingly, but the skies didn’t seem like they were going to cooperate he thought.
Olli paid attention to the road hoping to get some clues on where they were heading. He didn’t really care where Christian was taking him, all that mattered to Olli was that they were together.
“We’re here.” Christian announced.
Olli couldn’t hide his smile, “Nordpark.”
Christian unsure, “Do you like it?”
“Yes,” Olli pulled him closer for a kiss, “I haven’t been here in such a long time. It’s one of my favorite places.”
“Good,” Christian said relieved, he wanted to have a special picnic with Olli, he was a romantic, he knew it but wasn’t sure how Olli would take it.
Christian’s plan was to walk along the park into the Japanese Garden, where he would come back to the car and get food he had packed. It took him a few days to decide what he wanted to do for Olli’s birthday but knew that he wanted to spend as much time alone with him as possible.
“Even in cloudy weather this place looks amazing.” Olli button-up his coat, “You ready.”
Christian went around the car, taking Olli’s hand into his, “Yeah.”
The quietly walked through the gardens, Olli surprised that Christian took his hand and was not shy about it. Though Olli figured they were far away from friends and family they would not be running into anyone they knew.
“I’ve never been here. It seems nice. I bet it would look a lot nicer with better weather.” Christian commented as they continued their walk, “We should come back.”
Olli nodded. They watched people in the park and continued their walk in silence. It was a comfortable silence that neither had felt before with another significant other.
“The Japanese Garden is around the corner,” said Olli, “It’s beautiful.”
“You go on, I’ll be right back.” He said letting go of Olli’s hand.
Surprised, “Where are you going?”
Christian smirked, “I have—rain.” He stopped as he felt a drizzle start, “Fuck!”
“It’s not that bad, I like the rain.” Olli said, “It could be fun.”
Christian sighed, “Not for the outdoor meal I had planned for us,” he slightly pouted.
It did not help that the light drizzle had turned into a downpour, “We should get back to the car.”
They ran to the car and took cover inside, “I’m sorry.”
“Christian you can’t control the weather. I had a great time and I still am having it.” He took his hand, “We can still celebrate, what else— we can.” He stopped he did not want to assume that Christian had other things planned for him.
“I did—I mean do—back at our place.” He said quickly, “We should stop by somewhere and get something to eat, I’m a little hungry.”
“We can eat what’s in the basket.” Olli suggested.
“NO! I mean I rather have something warm.” He told him turning the ignition on.
Olli nodded still unsure, wondering if he put Christian in a predicament, “Okay.”
~~~~~~~
Judith walked into No Limits hoping to find Constantine wasn’t waiting for her already. She was going to check her phone, but it startled her a bit when it started to ring.
“Christian?” she said, “Why are you whispering?”
Judith listened as he explained that his plans that had been ruined, because obviously Christian didn’t bother to check the weather, “You need me to have party planned by time you get back in a hour? Are you insane? I need to get food, a cake, alcohol, and get Olli’s friends here—in an hour!”
“I told him, I had something planned.”
Judith sighed in frustration, “Why would you lie to him?”
“It will not be a lie if you help me. I just want him to have a memorable birthday.”
“Fine, give an hour and half.” She said.
“I’m already eating as slow as I can here and I’ve been in bathroom for the past 15 minutes.” Christian explained, “What else can I do.”
“Use your imagination Christian. I need an hour and half.” She said one last time and hanged up.
“Hello!” Olivia came from behind, causing Judith to jump, “Stop doing that. I don’t have time Olivia.”
Olivia smiled her wicked smile, “Why? Need to plan a party in an hour, because Chrissy baby didn’t know it was going to pour rain outside today. He’s romantic picnic got ruined I assume.”
“How?” Judith stopped a little freaked out, “Were you listening to my conversation.”
”Yes,” Olivia admitted, “But that’s not the point. Here” she handed her a receipt, “You can pick up the cake because I am not going out in this rain, and give me your keys and I will decorate the apartment. Then when you get back we will start calling people. Sound like plan.”
Judith wasn’t sure if to be shocked or angry, “Fine but we still need the alcohol.”
“Must I do everything.” She walked over to the bar, “Gregor.”
“Yes,” he turned to both the girls.
“We need lots and lots of alcohol.” She smiled.
“Okay then.”
~~~~~~
“Christian, we could have waited till we got home.” Olli teased.
“Well, if it wasn’t for the police men we could have finished.” Christian complained. Use your imagination Christian thought, every time he did it usually involved Olli in a compromising position and that almost got them arrested, thankfully they were still a good distance from town.
“Yea, the last thing I needed was to be arrested on birthday.”
“So, I’m still not sure what we are doing back here?”
Christian nodded nervously, “You’ll see.” He unlocked the door. When Ollie went for the light switch, the lights turned on and the echoing of SURPRISE were heard around the apartment.
Christian looked more shocked than Olli as his friends hugged him and congratulated him. Olli wondered how Judith got all these people to come on such short notice. He let Olli get lost among his friends and family as he went to talk to Judith.
He hugged her gratefully, “Thank you.”
“Don’t thank me, thank Olivia she did most of this.” She admitted.
Christian confused turned to Olivia who was looking at them. She tipped her wine glass towards them and smiled.
He nodded at her unsure what else to do. He figured he had mis-judged Olivia.
The party went on for a few hours, every enjoying the drinks as they started to dancing. Lars had brought Natalie and they dance a lot slower together, even though the music was fast paced. Christian looked at them sadly wishing he could do the same with Olli. He had kept his distance through out the party. He mostly talked to Gregor and Judith. Constantine ended up in charge of the music, and he didn’t bother asking Judith how that happened.
He knew he would be enjoying himself more, and so would Olli if they could dance together like Lars and Natalie. He watched as Olli danced with Lydia and Olivia having a great time.
Judith wasn’t oblivious to the looks Christian kept giving Olli, even if Gregor was blind to them.
“Maybe we should move the party down to No Limits before the neighbors start complaining.” Judith suggested.
Either people were too tipsy or drunk to argue they all agreed. They each grabbed their drinks and a few bottles before they started heading down.
“Olli?” Lars asked when he noticed he wasn’t coming down.
“I’ll be down in a few.” He said noticing Christian showed no signs of leaving.
Christian waited two seconds after everyone left and walked towards Olli, “I—hold on.” He said walking over to the music player, skimming through songs before he found the one he was looking for. He set up the song, walking back to Olli, “I hope you had a good time.”
Nodding, “I did, thank you—for everything.” He took Christians hand.
“Well Olivia and Judith did all this.” He confessed.
“I figured, you looked a little freaked out when I asked if you had anything else planned, then you took 20 minutes in the bathroom, and I was surprised when you willing to make out in the car.” He teased, “Either way this was all amazing, because you were here.” He confessed almost shyly.
Christian pulled him closer as the song started to play, “I’ve been waiting to do this all night.”
Here we are
Here we are
On earth together
It's you and I
God has made us fall in love
It's true
I've really found
Someone like youOlli let Christian take the lead, as the let their bodies moved to the music. Christian never thought he could fall in love this deeply. Olli enjoyed the closeness, he had fallen in love once, but he never thought he would love someone this strongly, he was just happy that Christian finally realized his feelings and they are able to enjoy moments like these.
Olli played with Christian’s hair as they continued to dance, he leaned his lips near Christian’s ear, “I love you.”
Christian smiled softly hearing the words, hearing the words that he would never get tired of hearing. He knew they didn’t say often and they expressed their love more with actions but they both knew. Though he does not mind when Olli said it.
He pulled away a little, “I don’t know what is going to happen once I start training professionally, but just know that I.” He paused.
“I know,” Olli stopped him.
“That I love you,” Christian finished.
Olli smiled proudly before leaning back into Christian to finish their dance. Christian held me him a little tighter, “Olli.”
“Yeah?” Olli practically whispered into his ear.
“Happy birthday.”
Will it stay
The love you feel for me
Will you say
That you will be by my side
To see me through
Until my life is through
Well in my mind
We can conquer the world
In love you and I
You and I, you and I
