Blutige Anfänger (Bloody Beginners) is a German television series that has been broadcast on ZDF since January 2020. The series revolves around police college students who must navigate between campus, crime scenes and private entanglements.

There's a gay couple in early seasons. Season 4 then introduces another two new LGBT characters Phillip and Bruno. 

Felt like this needed its own thread since Season 5 was recently confirmed. They already started shooting the episodes. Filming should be finished by September. Hopefully new season will air this year. Both Bruno and Phillip are back.

Release date for the 5. Season, is the 27.12.2023, on the classic ZDF TV broadcast, 1 Episode each week, every Wednesday at 7:25 PM, online the show should be available the whole Season at the 27.12.

Almost two weeks after the terrible attack on Dean Dr. Julia Salomon and Sami Malouf, the murder squad team is still badly shaken. And another stroke of fate befalls Charlotte when she discovers her cousin dead on the von Merseburg family estate. Killed by a shot in the heart. The homicide squad begins the investigation. Leon Landsberg takes over the examination of the body as the new forensic pathologist. The deeper the team delves into the case, the more secrets are revealed about the von Merseburgs' broken family relationships. Because of her personal relationship with the victim, Charlotte is not allowed to take part in the investigation, but does she stick to it? She finds spiritual support from Julia, who is herself in deep mourning for Malouf. But Julia is also looking for a not entirely legal outlet for her pain.

Meanwhile, Koko tries to hold the team together as deputy leader and relies on a positive atmosphere in the workplace. Her hopes for the leadership position she longed for are dashed when Torsten Kaiser introduces himself as the new head of the department. Koko and the rookies Umut, Anastasia, Bruno and Phillip have to get used to him. He demands top performance from his team while rarely showing up. When Koko asks him about his questionable work ethic, Torsten reveals the "little" secret about his frequent absences.

But the team can't calm down: Chief Inspector Dörte Pfeiffer unexpectedly strengthens the management team. With her dynamic nature, the organized crime specialist ensures a lot of movement in the murder squad. And not only professionally, but also privately, the rookies are busy. Charlotte leaves her parents' house and moves into the student dormitory. To Bruno's dismay, she and Phillip become closer.

According to the press kit for the show, the release date is January 3, 2024. No mention about December 27, 2023 being the release date or they move it.

The reason for the change, could be the new rating measurement system in the next year. Till this year it was only household with TV AND PC, Mobil, Tablet. In 2024 it is changed to also households without a classic TV. They called it new, instead of TV Ratings, now Motion Pictures Rating, because all Motion Pictures are calculated. The measure Group change from 1200 households, to 1400 households.

The Prejudice is that the public channel can get with that new measurement more viewers, higher ratings than in the past, because for the good 20 public channels, you need to watch, no registration, not like with the Private Broadcasting Companies.

Blutige Anfänger, 6th season (until mid-September 2024)
Filming for twelve new episodes has begun in Halle, Berlin and the surrounding area for the sixth and final season of the ZDF early evening series “Blutige Anfänger”.

At the beginning of the new season, police student Anastasia (Luise Emilie Tschersich)'s cruel experience with her ex-boyfriend makes her doubt her knowledge of human nature - how could she be so blind and trust a murderer? Dean Dr. Julia Salomon (Esther Schweins) and Moko boss Torsten Kaiser (René Steinke) try to convince Anastasia that trust can be, above all, something positive and that she has to overcome her trauma in order to be a good police officer. Meanwhile, Chief Inspector Dörte Pfeiffer (Petra Kleinert) unexpectedly meets her daughter Linda (Lucie Hollmann), who had broken off contact 10 years ago. Could Linda be the perpetrator in a recent murder case? During the investigation, rookies Anastasia and Charlotte (Cheyenne Pahde) are observed and followed by a stalker. Together with rookie Umut (Uğur Ekeroğlu), they are able to solve the case, but after a viral fake video appears, they are threatened with exmatriculation. The team is also concerned with the issue of trust when a new police student, Tulani Coulibaly (Ben Andrews Rumler), moves to the Halle Police College in the middle of the semester and strengthens the Moko. Tulani remains silent about the reasons for the change.
A lot of things also need to be clarified privately, because the closer Umut's planned marriage gets, the more Anastasia and he realize that they might both be meant for each other after all. And Charlotte and campus crush Phillip Schneider (Eric Cordes) always have strong sparks. Then there will be a celebration of the big anniversary of the Halle Police College and some old graduates of the PFH will come to visit - will there be a big happy ending?
