I finally decided to drop this show. This show flow as slowly as Bite Me, without all the food shots to distract the viewers. I can watch the entire show and there will only be like 5 min of actual plot progression. It just isn't worth it to watch.

I've binge-watched this to catch up and have to wonder what the hell happened to this show? It was never anything barnstorming and moved at a snail's pace most of the time but I still found myself caring about the main characters and their messy relationship problems. But Part 2 has got me completely bewildered as to why they changed tack and what they were going for. In the end they gave us all of the pain but none of the gain! Kaitoon started the show as the epitome of being a selfless underdog. He was empathetic and had the sort of kind and positive personality that made you want to root for him. In Part 2 they still tried to present him like that with his pleasant demeanour, but quite a lot of the time the writing ended up making him come across as self-centred and seemingly oblivious to the crass way he treat some of those around him. And yes, I'm mainly talking about Non, who never got a break throughout the whole series. He was quiet and humble and an all round nice guy, but boy did they write him as a servile doormat, and he ended the series as he began; being alone, unhappy and taken for granted. I'm annoyed that seeing him being constantly heartbroken and dejected was presented as some sort of perverse running gag by the writers, because he genuinely deserved better. In the end I just felt really sad for him. Valen started out as hot-headed, selfish, insecure and stubborn and he hadn't really changed much by the end, despite having Kaitoon around to bring love into his life and be his Jiminy Cricket for two series. As for King and Peat, I was quite intrigued by their story at first and thought the mental illness dynamic within their relationship would present the opportunity for something different to be explored, but instead they turned it into the most elaborate cover-up story ever to hide the fact that Peat was having an affair with Sean. WTF?! At least Jeff brought his top game to the few scenes we saw him in. I never really paid too much attention to Ice who just seemed to pop up like a little pixie now and again (with a voice to match) so I can't really say anything about his narrative of a crush that didn't work out. Nothing against the actor but how did he get the role of a university student when he's only 14 years old in real life? I'm not even sure what I was meant to make of the ending. First it was one thing then it became another. I hate fake-out's almost as much as I hate time-jumps, so it just came across as a rather cheap cop-out to try and please everyone. Meh! Oh, and a word about the continuity, and that word is AWFUL! Valen's hair had a life of its own; changing both length and colour from one scene to the next, while Kaitoon's problem seemed to be whether his shirt should be in or out of his trousers (it was sometimes both in the same scene). On the beach Valen and Khaitoon appeared to have the whole area to themselves in mid-length shots, but in the close-up shots it was clear there were other people (probably the crew) tootling around on the sand just near them. * For posterity. The one scene where it looked like Non might not get his feelings trampled on. But don't worry, the writers made sure they punched him in the heart a few minutes later.

Back from the dead, this series is finally getting a free YouTube release. Although it was originally advertised as a single ten episode series at the outset, the Covid 19 pandemic and various associated problems with permits and shooting restrictions meant it ended up becoming two mini-series instead.
So, for anyone who hasn't seen it and want's to give it a go, here's the episodes released so far.
