I think Kalle has been away about 10 years. This show and actors have changed so much after that I must say that I also enjoy watching Kalle's story I'm also enjoying Elias and Lari very much. I'm hoping so much that the pregnancy test would be negative but probably not Seems like Lari will be in the Closet long time. . .

Just a quick note to say I'm enjoying both the storylines (doesn't Ismo - Kalle's father? - look young in Kalle's stpryline!) and thanks for the translations! BTW - I'm not sure whether tw*t is the right word to use in the context - it has a really strong meaning in England, and you're unlikely to hear it in a soap opera

I agree dyfouclee, both storylines are pretty good. It is fun to see what a difference a decade makes!

Thank you for your note. That word might ba a bit too strong I might have watched too many British shows (I think I have learned bad words from there ) But I must say that one thing that have changed in this show is language. You might not notice it but before they were aloud to swear and I think I haven't heard that kind of language today. But when I was kid even language in cartoons was stronger than today maybe things were just different in late 90' early 00's

BTW - I'm not sure whether tw*t is the right word to use in the context - it has a really strong meaning in England, and you're unlikely to hear it in a soap opera I think that is cultural. They cuss up a storm on tv on British, German, Spanish, Dutch soaps. At first it was shocking and then I realized how much more realistic it is in terms of how everyday people speak when they aren't in a professional or formal environment (particularly young people) I've heard much worse language than "twat" on other European soaps. ;D US and Canadian daily soaps don't allow swear words on daytime tv and sometimes it just makes things seem VERY awkward.

Misfinlandia88 uploaded a pair of extra scenes:
I believe that they both take place between part 37 and 38.

Another extra clip -- Ida's first appearance on the show, courtesy of Missfinlandia88:
She also posted that neither Elias or Lari had scenes in the last three episodes, so there won't be a part 46 until they have some scenes.

I think that is cultural. They cuss up a storm on tv on British, German, Spanish, Dutch soaps. At first it was shocking and then I realized how much more realistic it is in terms of how everyday people speak when they aren't in a professional or formal environment (particularly young people) I think you're right that it's cultural, but also that sometimes the litteral translation of a word is too strong (Spanish joder being an example - literally meaning f^^k but used like 'bugger-me.' However, I am English, and I certainly would be surprised to hear tw*t in a soap opera, so even culturally I think it was a bit strong of a word to have used Missing Larias (although I do like the sound of Elarias ), but being kept interested by Kalle's storyline - thanks again!

Well on German soaps like GZSZ and FL and AWZ, the characters say "sh*t" all the time, sometimes 3 time sin a row which I have only ever heard in the US on cable. The two Spanish soaps followed heavily on this board had characters saying "motherf*ucker" in every other sentence because that is what they said in Spanish and Catalan.
Again, it's cultural what is considered inappropriate for TV and in some cultures cussing isn't seen as bad, just a normal part of every day conversation.
We shouldn't sanitize subtitles to suit our individual cultural realities. If characters cuss on tv in Finland then that is how the subs should be communicated in English, as authentically as possible.
I mean the "literal" translation would be "vagina" and I'm pretty sure that isn't what the character said. At best "pussy" would probably be close. But "pussy" and "twat" may or may not be offensive depending upon which English speaking country you come from. And we all know that the "C" version of this word is used liberally in British culture even though in the US, it's considered to be an extreme gender slur that you rarely hear, ever even on cable.
It's all contextual.
