Seems the show is trying to do promote not only WilSon but also Sonny/Freddie. Always nice to see how gracious Freddie is in interviews promoting not only his character but also WilSon and the entire show  . |

Leave it to Freddie to try and come to save the day. Out of everybody I think he understands the most how important the gay storyline is to fans.
Seems part of him was trying to calm fans outraged about the Sonny and Will direction. Another part of him was trying to get people to look forward since lots of Sonny is coming and it seems not juts involved in Sonny and Will ;D.

I don't envy his situation. I understand he is happy for getting more airtime, he was terribly underused and that's not good for him as an actor (and not good in the economic way). But he was in a gay storyline before, so i think he knows how this things work.
Actors always get the worse part when the storyline become a trainwreck, because they are the ones that give more interviews, and they have to balance what they are going to say, because they need to promote the storyline, but if the storyline is a crap of this caliber, he can't be too cheerful about it because people could get angry (and there's no angry like the angry of a soap fan).
Watching his interviews i think he will deal well with the situation, i fear more for Chandler, because he has the worse part. If Sonny recover from the bashing and doesn't become a pathetic weak character, people will forget about that part of the storyline quite soon, but Will sleeping with Gaby will follow Chandler for all the time he will play Will (it happened before).
I would like if some of the writers give an interview, it would be a good reality check for them, the same way it was for ATWT writers, they were very proud of their end until people told them their opinion about that crap. Given the fact that Days is on air, that kind of reality check could be very useful for future storylines

I agree that Chandler is in a much worse situation and I think I now get his interviews. I honestly believe he was so sick over what his character did and knew the fans would be sick also. Also, why he stressed he doesn't do the writing. I think this may be why he was not so cheerful about WilSon because this is so hard for fans to swallow right now.
I don't know if Will can recover from this. It's really really bad. I know it's just tv but Will and Sonny have impacted so many real lives with the gay storyline.
Sonny on the other hand is loved right now. Then again we don't know what's in store coming up next. But FS is very good with speaking to his audience. But they also tape over three months in advance so he knows things happening down the road that we don't.

Well, i think if they offer a good storyline after this, people will forget, the problem is the new storyline will be linked to the pregnancy.
Freddie is a more extrovert guy, and if Sonny don't came out of the bashing storyline being a psycho or weak, he won't have any problem. Chandler situation is more complicated (is not the same doing the sex with the girl when he is struggling with his sexuality than a year after that, and after coming out publicly), and i think Chandler is quite shy guy.
To be honest, if i was an actor i would avoid playing a gay character on a soap like the plague. The writing is usually atrocious, and you can cheer dreadfull storylines or you end backburned, and the fans are too focused on you (because there's no other gay characters in most shows). It's a no win situation

I liked Nick during his first run on the show until they made him crazy over Melanie that is, so I'll look forward to this. I'm also glad it seems Sonny will be interacting with lots of different characters at long last. |

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but @sourceryan is the executive editor of TVSource, so that'll be the same interview. From Ryan's tweets, seems like it went really well, though! Can't wait to read it.  Like you, I was kind of wondering about the Advocate one though, wasn't that supposed to have been out last week? I was looking forward to it. |

The Advocate interview was supposed to be released last week but it was never was. Maybe they were asked to hold it back til Monday like the other ones were today?
