I hope I will eventually be able to see this in the Netherlands, because besides the gay characters it looks amazing. (I think this sentence is wrong, but you know what I mean) BTW I could actually watch the HBO version, but the quality was to high for my slow computer so YT is better.

Are gay characters dead at the end?

Are gay characters dead at the end? this is a big spoiler, and i only read the two first books, but Renly and Loras are alive at the end of Game of thrones. I don't know how this will be treated on the show, but people must know that Martin's novels have a lot of characters and Renly and Loras are important but minor characters (by the way they are not the only gay characters on the books)

In the interest of protecting those who want to see the show and not be spoiled about storylines and the like, can the speculation and questions about such things be limited? I mean, be excited that there are gay characters but let others enjoy what will be seen unspoiled? jjose, you followed the rules just fine so I didn't want you to think it was specifically about you.I just think that giving away endgame results before the show even starts can ruin it. Can we not do that for this show [or any other show truth be told]?

Are gay characters dead at the end? SPOILER: highlight to read Renly dies eventually and Loras I think was badly hurt and possibly dead The series is based on the first book, so nothing of that will happen in the first season.

And i think that there's obvious (starting for the Renly-Loras spoilers we know) that the books can't be totally translated to the tv show. There's too many characters, the point of view of a different character in every chapter. The show will be different to the books even if respect the story. And as i know there are some minor important character that will not be in the first season, like Catelyn's uncle (a character who is speculated to be gay too)

Are they the only two gay characters in the series? No. But this is epic fantasy, in most of this genre novels gays doesn't even exist. Martin novels are different, but at least in the books there's nothing too explicit. To keep expectations to a right level, Loras and Renly are supporting characters in a very large cast of main characters (but both are quite relevant). There are other character, more or less important who are gay, but most of them are not in the first book. I find these novels like and addictive combination of the lord of the rings, I Claudius and Dinasty (all with a medieval ambientation)

I'm excited, too; it looks very epic and gorgeously filmed!
What is our policy regarding spoilers from the books? Are we allowed to discuss what happens in the books as long as we spoiler-tag them? Do we label them separately from spoilers for the show? I'm asking because I have never read the books and would like to know some details (beyond what I read on Wikipedia). I read that the author was quite pleased by how closely the show adaptation followed the source material.
A spoiler for the television show: AfterElton commented that episode five leaves no doubt as to the nature of Renly and Loras's relationship, but was cautious about "overselling" it. My speculation from this comment is that there is no gay sex scene, possibly not even a kiss, but we will receive a verbal/visual confirmation of the gay relationship.

It's good they have it that she knows and seem ok with it. She knows what being married to him means for her position and is alright with keeping their secret going.

Somewhat spoilerish video introduction to some of the new characters for the second season. It becomes more relevant to Renly and Loras's storyline at about 2:40
