Other than Dynasty and Clara Sheller, I'm kinda stumped as to what other shows have had a gay man get a woman pregnant?

It had been brought up before and it was explained back then but I will re-state further down in this post the differences in the threads... **cough** shouldn't this current discussion be in the " Other OLTL storylines" thread............ **cough** Not really. This general discussion thread is for all things on the show... just like the VL general discussion thread where all things related to the show are discussed. I actually meant to lock that other thread and forgot. Thanks for the reminder . Generally there are other storylines discussion threads when the main discussion thread is not a general discussion thread but a pairing-specific discussion thread like in the AWZ and ATWT sub-forums. I will start a pairing specific thread for this sub-forum but if anyone has any questions about how threads are set up and the differences with general discussion threads and pairing-specific threads, pls PM me. Is it possible to be a little more polite about it? Thanks in advance.

Since others were discussing Destiny/Matthew in the other thread, I thought we should get that debate in here where it properly belongs.
Me: I CANNOT STAND Destiny!!! Argggghhh! She makes my eyes bleed. I'll take 1,000 Stacy's over 1 Destiny.
But I really like Matthew. I just wish they would have him come around to accepting the fact that he's in a wheelchair and let him grow and triumph as such--I think it would be very inspiring and meaningful to both parents and young people with disabilities, rather than to give him a miracle cure.
Otherwise, I find the Greg/Rachel/Shaun triangle rather dull--it's too obvious, and I don't see any chemistry between any of them.
Aside from Kish, the stories/characters I look forward to involve Dorian, Blair, Todd, Téa, Natalie and Jared--they (again, aside from Fish, Kyle, Layla, Cristian and Roxy) are my faves on the show.

Pretty good episode today, more great acting from Scott, Brett, Tika and especially the marvelous Ilene Kristen--Roxy's comments to Kyle were a riot.
Frustrated that Fish still had an undershirt on when he undressed in front of Layla--I want to see his gorgeous, hairy chest! And they better give us a Fish/Kyle lovemaking scene as hot as or hotter than that one!

SOW article summary from Daytime Royalty: This week, Stacy's friend and fellow exotic dancer, Kimberly, shows up. Amanda Setton (Kim) explains her character in contrast with Stacy. "The thing about Kimmy is she's a little bit lighter than Stacy. She's really likable, funny, comedic. She's not just dark and vicious and bitchy." To fix Stacy's problem, Kim advises to simply get pregnant again. From there, the women come up with a list of possible dads: Kyle, Fish and Schuyler. Going to Kyle, he explains why he's not available for this particular job, but Fish and Schuyler have both slept with Stacy in the past and remain possibilities. Unlike Stacy, "Kim is not dumb." Setton asserts, "Kim is very smart and she enjoys it. She lives for this kind if manipulative fun. She gets a kick out of it. She's a fun bad girl. There's a giggle to it. She's always laughing." Of course, the unlucky guy who becomes Stacy's baby daddy probably won't be so amused. daytimeroyaltyonline.com/topic/8174449/1/

You guys are harsh! I'm totally LOVING the idea of Stacy getting pregnant with Fish's baby. First, I don't hate Stacy as much as others do--at least she's memorable, unlike a few other members of Llanview society who shall go unnamed.
Second, this keeps Fish and Kyle front-and-center in a primary story. It's likely that Fish won't know the baby is his for awhile, perhaps not until after the baby is born, so there's still time for Fish and Kyle to get together, for him to come out and go through all that angst.
Then, once he finds out, all hell will break loose, from Fish, Kyle, Rex, Gigi, Schuyler, Roxy, et al.
Plus, a Fish/Stacy baby would tie Fish/Kyle more closely to the Llanview canvas: the child would be related by blood or marriage to the Morascos, the Balsoms, the Lords, the Buchanans and the Bankses.
For me, there's ALL kinds of pluses to this storyline and I CAN'T WAIT for it to play out.

Yes, totally, totally AWESOME episode today! Brett and Scott rocked those scenes--Brett marvelously portraying Kyle's unashamed love and determination and Scott heartbreakingly and subtly indicating Fish's façade crumbling and his love for Kyle returning...and then the kiss. OLTL not only put all other American soaps to shame, they did it better than 99% of prime-time television! BRAVO!

The Stacy/Rex/Gigi mess is fun, but I LOVE the Téa/Todd/Blair situation; along with Kish, these are the storylines that keep me entertained and coming back.

From The Advocate: www.advocate.com/exclusive_detail_ektid102344.asp?page=3Layla tries to mend fences with Fish, assuring him she doesn’t think he’s gay. Cristian overhears, emerges in time to see Fish kissing Layla goodbye. Once Fish is gone, Cristian asks Layla if the secret Fish’s friend Kyle alluded to is that Fish is gay. Meanwhile, Kyle commiserates with Roxy, and we find out more about Fish. When Fish hears from Roxy that Kyle confided in her re: their college “affair,” he flips and confronts Kyle. Kyle kisses Fish, and someone witnesses.

Yeah, I thought the question was inappropriate, as well (and I don't think Scott or Brett cared for it too much, either); you wouldn't ask what positions the straight couples prefer, and I wouldn't want to know, just as I don't want to know which position Kyle prefers or Fish prefers--I want to have my fantasy.

Casting news from SOD: www.soapoperadigest.com/news/breaking/Real Life Mom Plays Reel Mom on OLTL In a charming casting twist, Lisa Evans will play her son Scott Evans' (Fish) soap mom on upcoming episodes of ONE LIFE TO LIVE. "She came to set a couple of weeks ago, and I wanted to show her around and she met Frank (Valentini, executive producer)," shares Evans. "My mother is very personable and I'd mentioned to Frank that she was a dancer growing up and we've done plays together. When I was a little kid I'd say, 'Mom, come do this play with me,' and she'd say, 'Ok.' It was easier for her, instead of just driving me to rehearsal, she could be in the show. She runs a children's theater, and Frank was like, 'Would she want to do it?' She didn't audition or anything. He put his trust in me, I guess." Playing his mother's son was a breeze. "It's incredible! I get to work with my mother. We have some really fun scenes coming up where it's just us two talking and it's really just us two talking. When I say, 'Mom' it's definitely not acting, it's absolutely real," smiles Evans. J. Tucker Smith has been cast as Fish's father. Their names are, wait for it, Barbara and George Fish. They'll first air Sept 16.

I think the dialogue on OLTL is considerably better than other US soaps; keep in mind that a lot of what we see (Blair, Téa, Brody, even Kyle telling Cristian that he's into Layla) is recapping dialogue; but, aside from that, the dialogue on OLTL has a lot of wit about it, much of it in a wink-wink-nudge-nudge way. I think many, if not most, of the LOL moments are intentional. I know that I LOL with the show and it seems pretty deliberate to me, as if they're playing up the campy melodrama of it all.

Great episode today; Scott Evans gave a particularly wonderful performance as his façade is starting to crumble around him. And Stacy falling down the stairs was hilarious! I wonder if Scott was always out and proud with his family. Or if for a while he kept it to himself. Maybe that is where he is pulling from when he acts. The pain one causes to them self by not being open about who they are with them self and with others. I think he's definitely pulling from his own experience; in interviews, Scott has said how difficult it was for him to tell his family, especially his brother, and how relieved he was when they were all supportive. I believe he told them when he was 19 or so.
