I've never been a big fan of Teddy, I watch the show every so often. And the fact that he went after Ade when she was with Navid and then drop her like a hot potato as soon as she wasn't a conquest anymore didn't sit right with me. Mainly because I know a guy like that and he did the same thing to a dear friend of mine.
But as he changed, I didn't think he was that bad and was ok. I didn't love his character, but I didn't boo when he came on screen. It was a bit weird that he was friends and hanging out with Dixon and Navid after dating both their ex.
But I hope they don't go down the route, that he's been gay all this time. And all those women have just been fronts. I'm not surprised it's the typical guy goes postal about being interest in another guy. He finally comes to love himself and then disapear from the screen because it seems like CW doesn't show gay male characters (ie Eric from Gossip Girl) or give them storylines. I'm sure Silver will be there for him and maybe even become his hag like Jen was to Jack on Dawnson Creek.
I could see Teddy getting really drunk and finding this guy Ian get little Teddy to come out to play. They have their night together and the next day Teddy is genuinely and understandably freaked. Teddy is confused and lost in what he feels, so he deny everything that happen. He's angry that he got so drunk, to let himself have sex with a stranger who happens to be male. I think he does honestly care about Silver and doesn't want to loose her. And maybe Ian is the first guy who has brought this out in him so Teddy is freaked.
I admit that I want him to be bisexual or have him not define himself. Because there are not a lot of bisexuals who are portrayed in the media. And this just feels more like, the producers said to themselves lets have a gay character on the show and picked Teddy. I hope they do this correctly because it just feels off to me.

"Look, sorry if I can't dance, but I'm not a frickin' f****t like you!" Subtle. This looks like it's going to be a gay storyline by numbers. On a positive note, though, I like that a character in a mainstream TV drama using the "f" word has become a super bad thing for that character. It wasn't that long ago that even good guy characters used the "f" word all day long with no repercussions.

So basically Teddy's coming out storyline will be paint by numbers, but Ian will be the character with more layers to him?

There's still plenty of time to see whether they'll do anything interesting with Teddy's coming out. For some reason, my expectations aren't all that high, though. They're off to a very clichéd start.

I'm liking ths story so far. And I don't think they're doing anything wrong with Teddy reacting so negatively to his experience at this point.
It may be cliche' to some viewers. But anyone from the USA should realize that for many American teens being gay or having same sex feelings in high school IS a tremendously traumatic thing and reactions like Teddy's are not at all unusual in any way shape or form. Whether or not we like it or think it's cliche,' coming to terms with being gay is a very difficult and angst ridden journey for many high school students. (and even many older people as well)
In light of how many gay students that have killed themselves in the past two weeks here in the USA, (many of them weren't just being bullied, but were also in the closet) I think it's important to reflect that coming to terms with being gay is still not a bed of roses here in this country , for many folks.
That being said, however, this show will never be Shakespeare, but I think ofr it's target audience, it's doing just fine so far. Cliche's and all.

Also, most US viewers have never heard of the shows we follow here on TGODT. They haven't seen a whole bunch of angry high school teen males coming out because there's only been like 4 on US TV that I can think of in the last 10 years (Primetime). - Justin - Ugly Betty
- Kurt - GLEE
- Kenny - The War At Home
- Jack McPhee - Dawson's Creek
When you think about the hundreds of shows on US TV over the last 10 years, that's a very insanely tiny number of coming out stories. Marshall on USOT (a cable show) was already out and comfortable being gay (though he had a minor road bump, there was no angry hatred, etc) Calvin on Greek was also completely out within a few episodes of the 1st season and had been out in high school and was completely adjusted. Even Degrassi isn't as popular in the US as it is in Europe (it's a Canadian show even though it is partially produced by VIacom) So in the scheme of US network TV. Teddy on an iconic show like 90210 (albeit a reboot) is a very big deal an extremely uncommon.

True, and it is understandable that Teddy is acting like a homophobic jerk. It is very hard for teenage boys to accept the fact that they may be gay or bisexual. I'm sure that some of my guy friends would rather be seen as giant jerks than admit they liked guys.
I'm guess I'm just disappointed that they aren't taking this chance to be a little different. I don't want him to be ok with it because that wouldn't be true to his character. But I guess since I live in the US, I'm tired of seeing the (what seems like) the same coming out story. I just find it annoying that the US can be so liberal in some ways and so prudish in others.

For some reason I got a kick out of the line "fighting over the choreography of an all-male group striptease" ;D

I really liked yesterday's episode. I think it's realistic, and so far I love how they have handled Teddy's storyline. Sure, it might be kinda clishé, and done before, both on Degrassi and Emmerdale. But at least 90210 does it well.. lol. Better than Degrassi!
Can't wait to see more of this storyline! ;D

That was a good observation, HQ75, that we on this board are jaded when it comes to judging coming out stories. We've seen it done better elsewhere. It's true that even mediocre gay story lines are greatly needed on American TV. Even more than gay story lines, well-adjusted, happy and confident gay characters are badly needed. So I think Ian will be the saving grace of this storyline. It's a cliche that he's a choreographer, but other than that he's everything that male gay characters should have been all along - just a regular guy who happens to be gay. And it doesn't hurt that he's adorable!
I suppose there's no reason why the gay storyline on this show should be any better done than any of the other story lines. This is a weak show, IMO, but it does have amazing eye candy. I'm not really buying Teddy's abrupt inability to function with women. They should have laid some groundwork for his sudden interest in men, but whatever. I'm a sucker for these gay guy loves straight guy who might be gay stories, so of course I'm going to watch no matter how many unoriginal plot developments they roll out. Unfortunately, I suspect that one of the biggest gay storyline cliches, a gay bashing, is in the near future. I think Ian will get gay bashed and Teddy will feel the need to be there for him. I hope I'm wrong, but it seems inevitable. What I'd like to see is some actual love develop between them.
I don't agree with that article that complains that the other guys in the dance class didn't go offer support to Ian after Teddy dropped the F-bomb on him. I was actually very happy with their reaction. None of them giggled or smirked, which is what would have happened in that scene not too long ago. Instead, they were all appalled and disappointed in Teddy. I saw this as progress, but maybe my expectations are too low.

I hope not, i'm sick and tired of gay bashing storylines. I don't think the storyline is that bad, but maybe it's because i heard such awfull things of this show that i expected the worse
