Bonobochick how do you feel about the Rafe Phillip III spoiler?
Does it seem like a likely pairing to you in theory?
I know Phillip III hasn't returned to the show yet but in general, what do you think?

I'm cool with it. I vaguely remember Philip III when he was originally on the show. It could be an interesting pairing but I need to seem him interact with Rafe before I really have something solid to say.

Actually i don't like that he is coming back. I would rather Rafe be with Phillip 4 who is around the same age as Rafe.

Too bad Phillips 4 is not gay. If not we can have a gay triangle involving father and son. I guess that will be too much for the viewers to take in. Hehehe. Whatever it is, Rafe will be involved with a core family's character, so maybe more screen time for him?  |

Rafe seems a teen in comparision with Adam, so i have serious doubts about him paired with Philip, Tom is a good looking man, but the age difference in very big

^ That doesn't stop Ashley Abbot getting involved with Victor Newman. Hehehe. Age doesn't really matter. I'm more concern about the chemistry. If Phillips 3 and Rafe have good chemistry together, I don't see why they can't pair up together.

I'm with Bonobochick, it won't matter what age they are to me if the chemistry is good.
I don't think Rafe looks like a "teen". He's 24 in real life and probably the same age or older on the show. And Phillip is supposed to be 39. I suppose it might be a bit weird for younger viewers , but when you reach my age, 42, it's not a big deal.
I'll speculate that people who were only going to watch to see 2 attractive young men like Rafe and P4 hopping into bed will be the most dissapointed. LOL! ;D
If it is going to be a love story between P3 and Rafe, I'm all for seeing what happens...

I don't care about the age difference either but the actor who plays Phil III is 47 and I just remember a lot of folks making a big deal about the age difference between Luke and Brian (of course there were other circumstances but people did talk about their ages a lot)
I think it's all about chemistry and believability when you're dealing with a couple but I just wondered what others thought since I tend to be kind of non-conventional when it comes to these things.

I've just seen the pictures of the upcoming scenes with Rafe & Adam and I should say I find them very hot together.
I know this is not supposed to be the real love story for Rafe but at this point I don't know if I will be able to enjoy the future scenes with PIII as much as I enjoy his current scenes with Adam.

"Journalist" Nelson Branco is saying there will be NO Adam/Rafe kissing. TPTB don't want people to get invested in them as a couple. Branco is also saying they should recast the part of Rafe because Yani ain't bringing it, and looks too young. I call BS to both, it's not Yani's fault that the writing for his character has been awful and they haven't given him enough screen time. I've got no problem with the "huge" age difference between Rafe and Phillip. I'm watching a soap, so I'm interested to see if chemistry develops with those characters. I know that some folks are pissed/annoyed/upset that there's "no there there" for Rafe and nuAdam, but if he's able to pull the rug out from under nuAdam AND be able to start a growing romance with Phillip, I see that as a great step for treating gay characters and the storylines involving them just like the straight characters.
Age has never been a "thing" for me, because in soaps, most male actors are constantly being paired up with female actresses that are significantly younger than them. One of the hottest and loved pairings at one time was Blake and Ross from Guiding Light. He was her mother's (Holly) ex and her best friend. When she found out, oh man. You knew that she wanted to beat asses, but you didn't know who was going to get it worse: her daughter or her ex.

Soap Reviews don't ever seem to like low-key characters. Nelson Branco and others seem to only like gay characters who are overtly sexual, half-naked frequetnly and throwing a fit (or a punch) in every other episode. Who needs that?
I'm all for the sexy and nakedness and overt sexuality in its place and it's great that all of the gay characters on American TV now seem to be super macho and traditionally masculine (because anything else would just get slammed as a "stereotype) but I don't think there is anything wrong with a gay character being a bit more under the radar (not about being gay, just as a personal style)
Rafe is a watcher and thinking and (I think) a bit of a game player...
I think Yani is wonderful and so good at conveying a lot with a little.
He's subtle and sharp and makes Rafe seem like he's layered and complex under all the buttoned-up "control" he presents to the world. Rafe is a very new character who is still growing on the show and as his part in the Adam saga grows, his role will become more important and he will get more screen time. Meanwhile, there's an entire show that's happening with stories that have nothing to do with Rafe (he's currently involved in two story lines though which I think is great)
Rafe isn't a lead character (neither is Adam). What do people expect? Just because he's gay doesn't mean he gets to be the star of the show all of a sudden. The character has to fit into the show in a way that makes sense and given what's coming up for him this slow and steady integration into the fabric of Genoa City makes sense to me.
We've already gotten so much more from this storyline than we have from past shows (I'm not even thinking of ATWT)
Why are soap viewers so impatient? Everything has to be spoiled and happen at breakneck pace. Who's hair is on fire?
Y&R has two gay characters who are out and will eventually make their way towards each other. So smart, keep folks guessing and waiting.

saw the Wednesday scenes of Rafe & Adam.
I thought they were hilarious. I was cackling like a witch watching Adam do his run through of how to dump Rafe, and then when Rafe shows up trying to get to the truth about Adam's eyes, Adam has to shift gears. And Nikki certainly gets an eyeful!
IMHO, it's great soapy goodness!
