wow, it definitely was a surprising ending.
SPOILER
i was pretty surprised it was Olive who died. when she was on the ledge i somehow figured Alex would fall, since she seemed to be the main character to the series.= (although a lot of fans seemed annoyed with her). definitely going to be high drama in the aftermath next season.

Some news: Series 3 has already gone into production and will apparently premiere at the end of September. (The September premiere date does not seem to be verified but the production staff said the show will be back before you know it.)
Also (this should be obvious if you watched the finale; otherwise, highlight to read spoilers) the actress who plays Olive has confirmed that she will not be back next series, so Olive is definitely dead. Don't get me wrong, the character was nice enough, but I felt her bad acting was dragging down the rest of the cast. It's so sad that a young girl with her whole life ahead of her should have it cut short, and so senselessly too. (Why did those idiots Tommy and Stephen rush at her while she was still on the ledge? It seemed to me that was what panicked her and made her fall off. Definitely major guilt for both them and Alex next series. That is if Tommy sticks around; he had previously announced he was back from boarding school for just one week, but that was before he knew the only reason he was sent to boarding school was because Stephen paid Alex to frame him for drug possession.)
It's even sadder for Olive's big sister, Toni - who is also Olive's legal guardian. In this one week, she lost her home, her business, her boyfriend, and now her only family member. Sucks big time. But I think the cast should do a great job playing out the aftermath of Olive's death next series. And obviously they will have to cast some new people so I hope one of the new castmembers will be a boyfriend for Alex.
There will be a behind-the-scenes featurette later this week which reveals how Connor managed to cry for the whole week. ;D

In my opinion I think that Alex hate his brother because Tommy was the "perfect" one and he was jealous . His dad always was more tough on Alex and Tommy didn't try to defend his brother to his dad. Also, Tommy always got the better deal like he was more popular and had more friends i.e. everything Alex wants Tommy has. Finally I think there is probably something else going on as well that the writers maybe haven't explored yet for example some incident. I think the writers should give more of a reason to why Alex hates his brother so much.

You said everything I wanted to say. we haven't been giving any explanation as to why Alex hates Tommy so much, however, we have been seeing some of the family dynamic at home.. Tommy seems to be the favorite, he never does anything wrong, has lots of friends, his dad likes him. But with Alex it's different, he is the son his dad never wished he had. Everything he does is wrong and his dad obviously likes his brother more than him. He gives Tommy some slack if he ever does anything wrong, while he is VERY tough on Alex for minor issues. I just think Alex kinda wishes he was like Tommy, or at least that his father treated him the same as he does to Tommy.

That makes sense; I just thought Alex's jealousy of Tommy might be tempered by the fact that the guy is always sticking up for him and trying to protect him. I guess it just makes Alex even angrier that Tommy thinks his little brother is in need of protection.
I asked the question because this situation closely parallels my own when I was growing up. Like Tommy, my brother was 3 years older, straight, massively popular, and (thanks to his playing rugby) our dad's favorite son. Meanwhile, I was gay and geeky, with only a handful of friends. I was bullied a lot in school, often within my brother's sight, but he never once lifted a finger to help me. In fact, it suited him more to pretend I wasn't his brother. Naturally, I was very resentful and always remember thinking that, just once, if he had just once tried to stick up for me, I would have been infinitely grateful. Which is why I was a bit perplexed that Alex, instead of welcoming Tommy's protection, throws it back in his face. I suppose our situations were not exactly identical, because my brother was spectacular in sports and crap in studies, and it was the other way around for me, so I did get my fair share of praise. My brother later revealed that he was jealous because I was doted on by various family members because I was "intellectual" and they preferred to talk to me. (A shocking revelation if there ever was one, because I couldn't fathom that my brother would be jealous of ME.)

I guess everyone has that part of them that is jealous of their siblings and Alex's rivalry with his brother goes further than normal people. I do think that Alex needs to give Tommy a break because he is really nice to him at least when I compare him to my siblings.

Thanks for sharing, Justinate. I guess every family has it's weird family dynamics and jealousy.
As for Alex and his brother, I have no idea why he's so mad even when Tommy's just trying to stick up to him.. He should be happy, but I guess that's just further proof that Tommy is the perfect son, I.E. "I don't need protection", and Alex just gets even more angry at him for doing that.
I don't know.. Maybe there's something more the writers haven't told us.. I do feel bad for both Alex and Tommy though. Their dad is a nasty piece of work. I would be scared to death if I had a father like him!
I watched all 65 episodes of season 2 yesterday. ALL episodes with Alex were AMAZING. The actor is very talented and Alex steals every scene he's in. maybe it's also because he's on of the few characters on the show that is complex and multidimensional (Stephen is kinda also like that, but more suttle). Anyways, I loved the Stephen/Alex dynamic, and they were a weird duo, but it worked, because they are both scheming, narsissistic and manipulative. Alex has the violent aspect to him in addition to that, so yeah. Alex is definitely worth the watch. I can also see why people thought it came as a shock to them when Alex kissed Stephen. The only person he was EVER nice to was Olive, but I guess he was only nice to her because he was trying to impress Stephen or to break them up.. I have no idea. Also, there is no evidence as to Alex being gay before the kiss, so it totally came out of the blue. Like I said, it seemed as if he liked Olive and not Stephen.. But it's obviously he liked the kiss. The day after it happened, he looks himself in the mirror, and touches his blue eye before he touches his lips and thinks of the kiss. I think that was very telling.
Sorry for my long rant, lol.. I just really like this show and this storyline. Alex is such a fascinating character too. It's worth the watch IMO. That is if you can stomach the whole Tommy/Stephen/Olive drama triangle, which is actually the least interesting part of the show. But of course, it's also the storyline with the most screen time. I'm much more interested in Cam/Frankie and the Toni/Mack/Amy drama was juicy too, as well as the scheeming Jay! The last few episodes were definitely the best ones, but you kinda need to watch the rest to know what's going on. But yeah, DEFINITELY worth the watch, if not for anything else than getting to know Alex a bit more. I also love Tommy btw, and the dynamic between the brothers is interesting too.

I have actually watched the two season already in like two days, in my opinion the second one was better. But, watching the first season did help since it explained alot about stephen and Olive's relation. We also got to see and know more about Tommy, who in my opinion is awesome. Finally I understood what was going on with the rest of the characters like Jay, Marla and so on. I am really excited to see what happens next in series 3

I guess there's not much chance that Stephen will return Alex's feelings, although he was kissing back in Alex's flashback. And the show has gotten the girl out of the way. Hmm...

I guess there's not much chance that Stephen will return Alex's feelings, although he was kissing back in Alex's flashback. And the show has gotten the girl out of the way. Hmm... I don't want Stephen to be gay because firstly, it's not in his character. Nothing points towards Stephen being gay. He's actually quite the womanizer in the show. Secondly, I don't want him to hook up with Alex because Stephen is such a jerk, manipulative and scheming. Alex can find someone better! Also, the reason why he kissed back I think was because he was in shock, it took him a few seconds to react. But when he did, he actually hit Alex in the face! Also, it may be the actor's choice. I have a feeling the actor is gay in real life.. Maybe I'm wrong, but it's just a hunch. Or maybe he just isn't such a good actor and didn't think about hesitating. After all, the most common thing to do IS to lean in when someone kisses you... Well, I guess we won't know either way until the next season starts. I watched season 1 now. I thought season 1 was REALLY boring! Jay/Fin stuff was just ugh.. stupid. The most interesting part of the whole thing was the interaction between Marla and Jay, and Marla's self harming. Also, the family thing dragged a bit, but I enjoyed the few moments we got of Stephen and Marla. All this time I thougth Stephen only cared about himself.. Turns out he also cares about his sister. I also found that the Toni/Mack storyline was quite interesting too. But I agree with devillies, season 2 was MUCH better, at least imo. I just have one thing to point out, while I don't think season 1 had enough characters, season 2 actually had TOO many. But all in all, season 2 was much better than season 1. The last few episodes of the season were especially good.

I actually think Stephen and Alex are good together because they scheme, and manipulate people. Also they have similar personalities except the motivations behind their behaviors is different and Stephen is kind of a douche;

They would be good together, they do have an AMAZING chemistry after all Don't get me wrong, I would like them to be together. I just don't think it will happen. I don't think Stephen is gay, and I doubt he has the same feelings towards Alex that Alex has for Stephen.. But I may be wrong, I would actually be happy if I was wrong! lol

Yh i don't think Stephen will be gay there is a chance they will make him Bi. I remember in season one his dad did tease him for being gay, u never know maybe he will end up being bi. Also I think since Olive is gone, he saved Alex and it looked like they kissed that maybe they could be together next season. They would be really cute together but, Stephen is still a douche and could break Alex's heart again like he did to Olive, Fin and Rosa.

I'm not so sure Alex and Stephen will happen either, but the things that suggest it could happen are:
1.) The writers went to all the effort to set it up. 2.) Stephen did kiss back. 3.) Olive is conveniently out of the picture now. 4.) It would be interesting and dramatic - things soaps strive for - and is already halfway developed. So it's the easiest route for some good angst in the next series.

I hope they bring in a boyfriend for Alex if he doesn't get together with Stephen though. And I hope that Alex stops fighting with his brother, but I don't think that is going to happen. It's just that I love both characters, and Tommy is so cute always sticking up to his brother. But I guess their problems run deeper than that. I think it's got something to do with their father, and I hope the series explore more of that next season.

I think, like I`ve said b4, the writers need to go deeper into why Alex is so mean to his bro
