Another cute episode, and I completely agree harmonium, I hope the viewers see them as another couple, and not give the show pressures.
In my opinion, I think the UK has a little step over the US and Australia in GLBT rights. Civil partnerships have been established for quite a while, granting couples rights. The latter two, not so much. It's really come and go for the US and Australia, but I'm not going to go through the politics.
Anyway, I'm hoping to see more affection between the two guys. For some reason, I felt a Luke and Noah moment when they hugged, like that's as far as they were going to go. If they were to kiss, the camera would pan off to the side. I'm not sure if that will happen, but I don't know how Australian TV works, but lets hope for a nice kiss after their second date!

The US will always be a "states rights" country. I don't think you can really compare the politics of how laws get passed between the US and Australia or the UK There is just as much homophobia and racism in all three countries. Only the laws are different. And it's not like the UK has always had full equality for gay people.
I think each country has to be taken in context. Getting rid of DOMA is one thing.
But I STILL think the gay and lesbian people and their allies need to take charge of the debate in their own states and make the change on a state level.
Because if it's a federal mandate, each state will just come up with so many loopholes and smaller bits of legislation to counteract gay marriage it won't even matter if DOMA is gone
The kissing ban for Luke and Noah only went on for 6 months. They were a kissing all the time couple for the remainder of their relationship until they broke up (they even made out some after they broke up and were regularly sexually active) for 2.5 years.
I'm not sure what they have to do with Neighbours and Australia.
But I don't think we should assume that what happens or doesn't happen in the UK and the US will influence what happens in Australia.

I'm not sure if that will happen, but I don't know how Australian TV works, but lets hope for a nice kiss after their second date! I read an interview with the Neighbours producer ages ago now, where she basically said that the Chris/Aiden storyline was about a relationship rather than a love story (or words to that effect anyway). At the time I thought it read as though the show was covering its back, meaning that if there were lots of complaints then they would have a ready made excuse for showing a lack of affection between the two. Chris is shy (and adorable with it ;D) and doesn't want to upset his father so that could easily be used as an excuse not to show any intimate scenes between them. I mean that's exactly what Emmerdale did with Aaron, used his angry and aggressive personality as an excuse no to show an intimate scenes between him and Jackson. Neighbours have done a fantastic job so far but if every Chris/Aiden item that they post on their Facebook ends up causing as much controversy, then they may be forced to rethink...UK soaps often cave into the complainers, even if it sometimes means rewriting storylines to appease them... Anyway, can I just say that I adore Chris? He is just so cute, believable, well acted...I love everything about his character. I think Mini Golf was a lovely idea for a first date. It's certainly memorable and he's right about cinema dates being pointless.

I've been watching this show for 3 years and I've still never seen an intimate scene with any of the couples. There is a lot of references to sex going on and lots of hugging and kissing but I've never seen anyone in a sex scene or even in bed together. Even when Jade was having a tawdry affair or Toadie and Sonya trying to make a baby, the most you get is some fully-clothed heavy petting. So I don't Chris and Aiden would get more than that.

Sorry, by intimate I just meant kissing and things. Because you're right, Neighbours doesn't really show much so that would be intimate by their standards ;D. However they do show a lot of kissing scenes, particularly between the teens. Summer and Andrew were all over each other all the time when they first got together. Kyle and Jade have been quite touchy feely too. I don't expect that from Chris and Aiden because as I've already said, that's not Chris's personality. But at the same time I don't want that to be used as an excuse to show nothing. I worry that they will become boyfriends who act like best mates and a hug is the most you can expect.

I am ok with not much of kissing, hugs, holding hands and touching each other is fine with me as long as the chemistry is there. If you look at the scenes with Tash and Chris, Tash is like touching Chris at every chance she gets (I mean who wouldn't). I hope that Aiden gets to do that too. If not, it just looks weird. LOL! And I also hope they will keep Aiden as long as possible for Chris, unless they intend to introduce another gay guy for Chris (afterall he is just a teenager). Otherwise, I am looking forward to seeing more Chris & Aiden together. I am not putting high expectations coz we know how Neighbours is as a show. As long as they don't kill anyone of them, I should be happy.

Based on the spoilers I posted a couple of days ago, Chris for sure has one scene -- where he he discusses Summer's latest problems with her this week. Aiden had a very brief scene in yesterday's episode at the hospital (but nothing to do with his and Chris's relationship). Neither of them are mentioned in the spoilers for next week's episodes.
The show is primarily dealing with two major storylines right now -- 1. Kate and Sophie's problems -- where Kate doesn't want to be Sophie's legal guardian anymore, and 2. Sonja and Toadies' baby woes.

Aiden is on a 6 months' contract according to the interview. I hope it's an "extendable" one. If not, we may not get a full blown relationship between Aiden and Chris.

thanks a lot for posting that picture, HQ75. they look lovely together!
I really liked that small part from this week. one thing that I've always liked about Chris is that he's a very relaxed guy (in the sense that he's down to earth). I'm curious about what happens next for Chris and Aidan, I hope that the actors manage to find something within their characters that will make the on-screen chemistry to come through a little more.

That is such a cute picture. They gotta be the cutest gay couple (yet) on TV show rite now. That little scene is really adorable too. We need to see them more often.

They do need more screen time. I hope really soon that we get to see them actually have a storyline 9like the first date) really really soon.

^Me too, given that Bob Morley is on 6 months' contract, we still have about 4 months of him. I hope they take the opportunity to make this storyline good. And it seems the actors are pretty comfortable with the gay scenes and that Neighbours is pretty tame with their intimate scenes, I don't see why they can't make the storyline work. All I only know they don't kill off Aiden just because he is on a contract role. I still pray hard that he will be converted to a regular role, so Chris can have a permanent love interest.

And I've already said that I'm not expecting them to be all over each other all the time because that's not in Chris's character and Neighbours are very careful in regards to how they show closeness between couples. I mean only last week, we had an implied sex scene between Toadie and Sonya and how did the writers deal with it? Well they showed an incredibly cheesey montage of flowers blooming and fireworks exploding ;D. However, an unusual factor to consider with regards to this particular couple is that neither Chris or Aide actually have a house of their own! Bizarrely, both characters live off screen...so there's even less chance of kisses/hugs etc. Which mean that their chemistry has to be really strong and their closeness will have to be shown in the little touches and gestures that you've already described. As for Aiden being on a 6 month contract well Chris wasn't a regular at first either, he was just a guest character who existed primarily to listen to Summer's complaints . But he still became popular despite his lack of screentime and that is why he was made a regular. Hopefully Aiden will prove just as popular.

I mean only last week, we had an implied sex scene between Toadie and Sonya and how did the writers deal with it? Well they showed an incredibly cheesey montage of flowers blooming and fireworks exploding ;D. LOL! I didn't expect it's that cheesy and tame. If straight couples only get those, I doubt they will even mention that Chris and Aiden has sex at all. I just hope we get to see some hugs and holding hands in between. I am not expecting any kiss at all (not even a peck on the cheeks). You are right. I didn't even notice it until you said it. I dun remember seeing Chris having to stay in his house. It's always at the cafe/hospital/garage or somewhere outside. I guess they do not have enough sets to build one. LOL! As for Aiden being on a 6 month contract well Chris wasn't a regular at first either, he was just a guest character who existed primarily to listen to Summer's complaints . But he still became popular despite his lack of screentime and that is why he was made a regular. Hopefully Aiden will prove just as popular. Yup. I agree. I didn't know James Mason (ie. Chris) was on a contract role. I guess the character's humble self is very true to life and I guess the viewers take a liking to him (and not to mention he is uber-cute). On a side note, it's so hard to find a decent current photo of him. He is such a stunner, I would expect him to be on magazine spreads. Anyway, I found another cute picture of Chris & Aiden. Wonder where to find a bigger size of this.

Oh my harmonium! Thank you for the pictures! They are great! Lets hope they don't back out of the storyline because it's taking the backburner right now. I really wanted to see that second date. But oh well, at least we know that they got through the rough part and seem to be getting along really well. They're all holding hands and everything...
