Thursday 23rd July 2015- 7174: Josh determines to become a successful male stripper to raise enough cash to support Amber and the baby. Naomi helps him perfect his dance moves, leaving Aaron impressed when he auditions for him. Aaron and Josh form an act called The Heat but Josh's self-consciousness about dancing still troubles him.

Finally, a soap has explored the double-standards towards gender equality in society; something which has not been dealt with enough- and there were some good points made, like Kyle saying that there’s one rule for women and another for men. However, none of the characters seemed to actually make a solid argument (even Karl): Aaron claiming that they ‘set themselves up’ for being leered at because they were being shirtless waiters didn’t resolve anything because it doesn’t apply to everyday society.

Yeah, Sunshine's right: the UK episodes are two weeks behind Australia. By the way, apologies for not having last week's spoilers in white - the internet kept disconnecting which messed with the formatting. Anyway, here are the Nate and Aaron related spoilers for upcoming episodes (highlight below to read): Thursday 23rd July 2015- 7174: Ben makes a surprise return to Ramsay Street, whilst Josh begins a new career.
Friday 24th July 2015- 7175: Aaron helps Josh to find his inner dancer.
Wednesday 29th July 2015- 7178: The Brennan brothers receive an unexpected visitor.
Spoilers courtesy of The Perfect Blend and Southern Cross Media To be honest, my main issue with this story so far is the writing, which has been quite clunky this past week (Dimato storyline aside). For one thing, Nate went round to apologise to Aaron about giving him the brush-off, but why? It’s not like they’re that close, so why would Nate really care whether Aaron was upset with him or not? And he only succeeded in suggesting that Aaron and Tyler don’t have a very good relationship, and was surprised when Aaron shoved him out of the house for saying it. Then he tracks him down while Aaron is supposed to be working to apologise again, but never actually justified what he had said to him. Actually, Nate's already apologised several times for making fun of Aaron's job, yet Aaron's never apologised for insulting soldiers when they first met, which is long overdue. It was rather hypocritical of Mark to accuse Aaron of not being there for Tyler considering that he had been estranged from his family for around five years (ok, he was in witness protection for a year and a half, but it was still unfair), which Aaron should have mentioned. On the other hand, the general dialogue between Aaron and Nate has been really good: fun, witty, flirtatious and definitely helping to create the mood between them. Also, good on the show for having a close-up of the kiss, though the camera should have lingered on them for a few more seconds so that the audience could see Nate and Aaron’s immediate (presumably shocked and flustered) reactions to it. Meyne did a small interview recently about Nate’s love life; it’s not hugely spoilery but the second question seems to be hinting at something coming up, though it’s written quite badly so it’s unclear: tenplay.com.au/channel-eleven/neighbours/features/meyne-wyatt-gives-us-the-scoop-on-nate-kinskis-love-life

Here are the Nate and Aaron related spoilers for upcoming episodes (highlight below to read): Tuesday 28th July 2015- 7177: Nate encourages Tyler to be more assertive and show Paige how he really feels about her.
Wednesday 29th July 2015- 7178: Tyler returns to the Brennan house – at the worst possible moment – as Russell Brennan arrives to visit his sons.
Monday 3rd August 2015- 7181: Nate encourages Aaron to mend the rift with his dad. Meanwhile, Aaron and Josh's first professional gig as The Heat strip troupe is happening for Erinsborough councillor Sue Parker, who is having them perform at a party for her middle-aged friends.
Wednesday 5th August 2015- 7183: Russell tries building bridges with his sons.
Tuesday 11th August 2015- 7187: Nate reaches out to help a troubled Ben and when he shares his army experiences, Ben is inspired to move beyond his misery for the first time.
Spoilers courtesy of The Perfect Blend, Southern Cross Media and TV Soap
So where’s the show going with Aaron and Josh? Presumably not down the route that they seem to be implying - and not even subtly, judging by the dialogue (such as Nate explicitly suggesting that Aaron and Josh might hook up) and body language. As good as the chemistry is between them, they can’t have Aaron being hung up on Josh for months considering that Josh is practically stalking Amber and will never be interested; a bromance is great but not a straight-boy crush. Also, what’s going on with The Waterhole? Aaron performs there on one occasion and he’s given a contract, then two weeks later the contract’s terminated because they can’t afford to keep him on, and then a week later he manages to organise a gig there at the last minute. Apart from bringing Nate and Aaron closer together, none of that makes any sense.

Here are the Nate and Aaron related spoilers for upcoming episodes (highlight below to read): Monday 3rd August 2015- 7181: Aaron attempts to heal the rift with his father.
Tuesday 11th August 2015- 7187: Nate and Ben bond in the unlikeliest of circumstances.
Tuesday 18th August 2015- 7192: Russell and Sheila consider their future Although neither of them are scheduled to appear in the episode, it seems worth mentioning that the 18th August marks exactly a year since Nate's first episode. Friday 21st August 2015- 7195: A race day in Ramsay Street gets everyone excited
Spoilers courtesy of The Perfect Blend and Southern Cross Media
Despite what I wrote last week, I quite enjoyed Aaron mentioning Josh (and his body) at a really random time. However, I’m not sure how we were supposed to interpret Nate’s reaction to it; I assumed Meyne would play it as either jealousy or discomfort, but he played it as annoyance instead, which – although being consistent with the characters – doesn’t seem right for the development of the storyline. It’s interesting that Aaron hasn’t spoken to Russell since he came out, which begs the question: when did Aaron come out? In fact, when did Nate come out? It would be great to have that addressed, which it hasn't been yet.

Here are the Nate and Aaron related spoilers for upcoming episodes (highlight below to read): Tuesday 11th August 2015- 7187: Nate and Ben bond over babysitting.
Thursday 13th August 2015- 7189: Nate is crushed when Sheila tells him that Chris has moved on with someone else.
Wednesday 26th August 2015- 7198: Aaron´s matchmaking takes a nasty turn.
Thursday 27th August 2015- 7199: Aaron is confronted by his feelings for Nate.
Spoilers courtesy of TV Week and Southern Cross Media
I don’t mean for this to sound like some sort of rant, but I’ve heard someone suggesting that Meyne is leaving soon. I have no idea where that idea came from but there’s been nothing official to suggest it. Reportedly, Meyne’s taking some time off in November for a stage production (http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/soaps/s14/neighbours/news/a622943/neighbours-star-meyne-wyatt-to-attend-sundance-film-festival.html#~pkVW6n4hoqxalk) but there’s no official confirmation of a permanent departure. In that case, I’m guessing that’s the reason why the show has slowed down on the Aaron and Nate storyline: because (unlike James Mason) the actors aren’t going anywhere yet so the storyline doesn’t need to be rushed.
Anyway, it was a really interesting idea that Russell’s issue with Aaron isn’t about his sexuality, but is the simple fact that he can’t find any common ground between them: that’s something that a lot of parents could probably relate to. I also like the back-story that Russell had found Aaron ‘with a bloke’ (though I kept picturing that scene from VL when Gregor walked in on Christian and Oliver in bed together), which – as Nate pointed out – is pretty shocking regardless of how open-minded someone is. Russell Kiefel is doing a really good job so far; he’s got a rather menacing disposition and although I know Russell is supposed to be the villain in this, I really enjoyed his attempts to make amends with Aaron, especially him attending the LGBTI fundraiser (which also emphasised the difference between Aaron and Nate, having Aaron flirting with the guys contrasted with Nate being more reserved and preferring to talk to Russell), though clearly it’s being done in order to create the conflict within the family.

As previously mentioned, the 18th August (today) marks a year since Nate's first episode - and hopefully there will be many more! Here are the Nate and Aaron related spoilers for upcoming episodes (highlight below to read): Wednesday 19th August 2015- 7193: Aaron advises Josh to put Amber behind him and have fun with other women.
Friday 21st August 2015- 7195: Ramsay Street comes together for race day.
Wednesday 26th August 2015- 7198: During a boys' night out with Josh, Aaron is almost assaulted by an angry pub patron until an unidentified knight in shining armour saves him.
Thursday 27th August 2015- 7199: Aaron faces up to his feelings for Nate.
Friday 28th August 2015- 7200: Aaron painfully connects with Nate.
Thursday 3rd September 2015- 7204: Nate´s wildest fantasy turns out to be Aaron´s worst nightmare.
Spoilers courtesy of TV Soap, The Perfect Blend and Southern Cross Media
It was lovely to get an update about Chris (at least we know that he hasn’t just been sitting around and moping for the last five months), even if it was used as a bit of a plot device; it would have been better if we had actually seen Nate’s full reaction to it rather than hearing about it from Sheila. I assume the ex that Aaron was talking about is a different one from the guy who was texting him when he first arrived, otherwise it doesn’t make much sense. Was it strange that Aaron carried around a spare phone so that he could give a different number to guys that he hooks up with but isn’t sure about seeing again? That was quite funny but his advice to Josh about Amber was terrible. It was nice to see Nate and Aaron bonding for a change though, and Aaron calling Nate ‘eyebrows’ was funny too.

Here are the Nate and Aaron spoilers for upcoming episodes (highlight below to read): Wednesday 26th August 2015- 7198: Aaron is saved by a mystery man.
Thursday 27th August 2015- 7199: Aaron is determined to track down the man who saved him from his attacker.
Friday 28th August 2015- 7200: Aaron asks Nate if he can teach him self-defence. However, Aaron's attempt to teach Nate Tai Chi goes horribly wrong when an energetic Aaron suddenly kicks Nate in the groin, leaving him in agony.
Thursday 3rd September 2015- 7204: Nate is amused when Aaron offers himself up as his man slave.
Tuesday 8th September 2015- 7207: Nate reads Aaron’s body language loud and clear, whilst Russell’s past treatment of Tyler finally comes to light.
Wednesday 9th September 2015- 7208: The fallout of Tyler and Russell’s secret tips the family to breaking point.
Friday 11th September 2015- 7210: Will Nate and Aaron finally get it together?
Spoilers courtesy of TV Week and The Perfect Blend
I quite like that the Aaron and Nate stuff is used as a running thread through other plots rather than just being a storyline in itself (such as the race cars competition) all of the time; it definitely keeps it consistent and enables a smoother development without being in the audience’s faces too much. It’s also demonstrated through the fact that Nate and Aaron don’t fight as much now that they’ve bonded more, so there’s less of a chance of them becoming a really volatile couple who would just bicker and make up/break up all the time, which would have been their biggest problem and would just get annoying after a while. And actually, I find that Nate and Aaron getting together is less contrived than Chris and Nate despite their differences considering what Nate was like when he first arrived last year.
Here's an article courtesy of TV Soap which covers the next few weeks: Aaron and Nate have spent weeks tiptoeing around each other, unwilling to acknowledge or accept that they have more than friendly feelings for each other. Although Nate knows that he's attracted to Aaron, he mistakenly thinks that Aaron has no interest in him. When Aaron suddenly offers to be Nate’s man-slave for a week on the pretext that he wants to make amends for earlier injuring Nate during Tai Chi, Nate doesn’t realise that Aaron is actually trying to woo him.
Initially, an exasperated Nate tires of Aaron’s presence but nothing he does will get rid of Aaron who’s insistent on fulfilling Nate’s wildest fantasies. Finally, Nate confronts Aaron about his overzealous actions, prompting Aaron to confess his feelings for him. Unfortunately, Aaron’s honesty backfires when Nate thinks he’s playing a joke on him, leaving Aaron crushed by the rejection.
When Tyler steps in on Aaron’s behalf and admits to Nate that his brother is seriously attracted to him, Nate is given pause for thought. Wanting to know exactly where he stands, Nate has Josh’s girlfriend, Courtney, use her body language skills to determine if Tyler is telling the truth. When Courtney determines that Aaron definitely likes him, Nate wonders what he should do about it.

Yeah, Aaron is very likeable (as is Nate); he’s a typical ‘lad’ but with certain characteristics exaggerated for effect: being arrogant and overdramatic in the most appealing way possible (though he was rather rude about Milla). However, since when has he been a hopeless romantic (if anything, the show’s been suggesting the opposite)? The writers seemed to have just transferred Daniel’s personality from last year to Aaron in the most annoying way possible. And why didn’t Aaron actually thank Nate for saving him? He practically bit his head off when he found out yet there was no apology or anything before he asked Nate for help. And why did the writers turn the tables and have Aaron teaching Nate Tai Chi considering that Aaron was the one who wanted the self-defence lessons? Saying all of that though, Nate, Aaron and Josh are a brilliant trio: considering that Josh has never been the most likeable character, the friendship with Aaron has brought out the best in him and having the three guys together made for some wonderful comedy. It was also great that the show made reference to Nate’s PTSD and reminded us that he still struggles with it, and interesting that Aaron was uneducated about it too.

Here are the Nate and Aaron related spoilers for upcoming episodes (highlight below to read): Tuesday 8th September 2015- 7207: With Mark and Aaron’s support, Russell plans the purchase of Fitzgerald Motors, but Tyler’s brooding continues to dismay him.
Wednesday 9th September 2015- 7208: The Brennans reach breaking point as the truth about Russell’s past is finally revealed.
Friday 11th September 2015- 7210: Nate and Aaron’s chemistry can’t be denied when they bond over their concern for Tyler, and a new romance is born.
Wednesday 16th September 2015- 7213: Aaron is excited when Nate asks him over for a ‘simple roast’ and dresses up, believing that it’s a date.
Thursday 17th September 2015- 7214: Nate receives a reminder of how different he is from Aaron.
Friday 18th September 2015- 7215: Aaron’s status update causes a stir and leaves Nate feeling more insecure than ever.
Thursday 24th September 2015- 7219: Aaron worries for his business.
Spoilers courtesy of The Perfect Blend, TV Week, Soap Extra and Southern Cross Media
This is kind of unrelated but Lucas and Vanessa are returning for a couple of episodes during the week commencing the 21st September, just in case anyone’s interested.
So a hot guy offers to do anything for Nate, and Nate asks him to do one-handed press-ups whilst making animal noises? That was funny but a bit weird. I liked that Nate and Aaron’s dialogue was fraught with suggestive language throughout yet the most awkward part of it was Nate rejecting Aaron. However, Nate was really harsh: I mean, even if he wasn’t interested in Aaron (which he is), there were kinder ways of letting him down than the way he did it. His reaction alone should be enough to put Aaron off for good; the poor guy looked devastated.
Actually, I do agree with Anthony that it’s become tiresome having the gay characters beaten up frequently, even if it’s not intentional. Though the show never sensationalises it; the attacks are always part of a storyline and aren’t just scripted for the sake of it. Interestingly, none of the times that the gay characters were beaten up have been because of their sexuality. Even the first time Chris was bashed (leading to him meeting Aidan), it wasn’t because of a homophobic customer like he had assumed but was because Toadie’s former boss had hired a guy to scare Lucas into agreeing to close down the garage so that the area could be made into a car park for the new shopping centre. It does annoy me when people throw the term ‘gay-bashing’ around though, especially when it’s not the case.

Here are the Nate and Aaron related spoilers for upcoming episodes (highlight below to read): Wednesday 16th September 2015- 7213: Nate and Aaron try too hard to impress each other.
Thursday 17th September 2015- 7214: Aaron’s work reminds Nate of the differences between one another.
Friday 18th September 2015- 7215: Nate’s insecurities emerge after Aaron’s status update.
Thursday 24th September 2015- 7219: Aaron turns to Naomi for help.
Friday 25th September 2015 – 7220: Aaron axes Josh from The Heat.
Wednesday 30th September 2015 – 7223: Nate and Aaron’s dinner date hopes look destined to clash.
Spoilers courtesy of The Perfect Blend, TV Soap and Southern Cross Media.
Unfortunately, it feels a bit like the show is rushing Nate and Aaron’s progress. I mean, they spent ten weeks building Nate and Aaron up from enemies to (just about) friends, yet since the attack a couple of weeks ago, everything’s suddenly happening unnecessarily quickly and mostly off-screen. Fortunately they’ve only agreed to one date so it’s not like they’ve jumped straight into a relationship or anything. And it might just be me but if I had been rejected by someone as harshly as Nate rejected Aaron, I doubt that I’d still be flirting with them a few days later (though it has been established that that’s the kind of character Aaron is). It was kind of funny though that Nate and Aaron have had more meaningful conversations with each other than with anyone else (ironically, Nate’s opened up to him more now that Aaron isn’t forcing him to) and that they actually have more in common than they initially thought.
