Thanks kevvoi, what a great trailer - roll on 2015! In a recent interview, producer Jason Herbison was asked about Chris and Nate’s storylines next year. Here’s what he had to say (highlight below to read): They will be challenged by the return of Lucy Robinson and there will be the question of whether Chris and Lucy will be successful in conceiving a child together which will be answered. * No surprises there really. To be honest though, it will be interesting to see the conflict: it doesn’t seem like the traditional idea of both guys being super excited about the prospect of becoming parents (which was especially obvious by the look on Nate’s face at Chris’ text from Lucy), and will actually provide drama in more ways than one – particularly if they play a rivalry between Nate and Lucy. Even in the preview it suggests that there will be trouble along the way. And this storyline is better than no storyline I guess. Although it means that we get more scenes of Chris and Lucy’s forced and awkward friendship, which is probably the bit that I’m least thrilled about, personally.
Actually, my main worry is that by the time the baby is born (if it all goes ahead, that is), it will supposedly be the end of Meyne’s contract, so whether Nate (and/or Chris) stays or leaves will obviously affect the outcome of the storyline. I hope they don’t write them off at the end of the summer, but it does seem like the obvious exit – perhaps leaving to get married in America, then moving there to raise the baby with Lucy. I’ll be more surprised if something like that doesn’t happen.
Also, the Neighbours Facebook pages have released exclusive photos from the new opening titles (I originally thought they would be updated in the anniversary week in March, but now I’m not sure). Anyway, here are the links to the Chris and Nate photos: www.facebook.com/neighboursuk/photos/pcb.903033053041056/903032376374457/?type=1&theaterwww.facebook.com/neighboursuk/photos/pcb.903033053041056/903032379707790/?type=1&theaterwww.facebook.com/neighboursuk/photos/pcb.903033053041056/903032396374455/?type=1&theater* He did also mention that 'Susan will continue to support Nate through his post-traumatic stress syndrome', which should be interesting- and it's great that they're not just going to forget about it next year.

Thursday 22nd January 2015 - 7044
Lucy has a shock for Chris and Nate
Below is just my opinion on this week’s episodes. It may contain spoilers for people who haven’t seen the episodes yet; I’ve tried to be vague about the details, but there would have been too much information to potentially put in white otherwise.
Aside from the fact that Meyne’s line delivery has improved, and that Nate and Chris have suddenly become more affectionate, the main thing I took away from the past couple of episodes is that it shouldn’t have only been done over the course of two episodes. Not to mention that everything that happened to them transpired over the course of less than 24 hours: it was seriously rushed, and should have been drawn out over the course of a couple of weeks.
I’m also not convinced by the fact that Chris would let go of his job that easily: he’s been an apprentice at the garage for three and a half years (ok, so he got a bit upset, but later on he just shrugged it off in a ‘you win some, you lose some’ attitude) – there should have been much more focus on his struggle at the garage and the grief over having to quit (then again, Chris knew what was coming, so there was no point delaying the inevitable really).
Secondly, I don’t believe that Chris would be interested in working at Lassiter’s. Why would a guy who’s only shown an interest in basketball and fixing cars be tempted by the prospect of working at a hotel? Surely the logical thing for him to do would be to return to basketball: after all, he had to give it up to focus on being a mechanic; now that that’s over, he should go back to basketball. I’m assuming it’s for convenience of the storyline: Lucy works at Lassiter’s in New York, so it’s probably a way for the writers to bring them closer for their upcoming storyline.
I agree with Chris that Terese seemed to offer him the job out of pity or because she feels guilty for what Josh did (though Nate – being the voice of reason – definitely had a point: Chris should look at it as a good opportunity and a fresh start), but at least it’s not out of character for her as she did the same thing to Mason about a year ago after Imogen dumped him. It was also a surprise that Chris didn’t lash out at Josh: I mean, if I had to give up my career and passion because someone punched me (accident or not), I would be blaming them, not shaking their hand. A few months ago Chris was upset about the prospect of not being able to continue his apprenticeship, but now that it’s a reality he’s suddenly all friendly? I get that he forgave Josh a while ago, but suddenly being able to call a truce, especially within the same day of having to leave the garage (because of Josh) was unrealistic.
However, Paul’s face when he realised Terese had offered him the job was hilarious, as was him still calling Chris ‘Freckles’. And like I said, Meyne’s suddenly improved his line delivery and seems to be generally putting in more effort, which is paying off. Also, it is good that the coward-punch story hasn't just been dropped, it technically ended two months ago and Chris and Josh have been embroiled in other stories since; but it still felt unresolved until now. Plus, I love Chris’ scenes with Karl and/or Susan: he should just move in there permanently, no-one would really notice as he spends most of his time there anyway .

Actually, that Digital Spy article is quite reassuring. For one thing, the fact that Meyne has an extra week off probably won’t make much difference on screen because obviously they don’t film chronologically. The scenes that they’re referring to will probably air around late April/early May, but I highly doubt we’ll even notice his absence – they probably won’t write him out of the story or anything, he just might not appear in many episodes during that time. Also, that article suggests that Meyne will still be filming on the show in November, meaning that he’ll presumably be on Neighbours until at least early 2016, which is a pleasant surprise because I’ve been suspecting that he would only be on the show for a year and that they would write him out this summer, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.
Another fast-paced few episodes this week. A lot of stuff happened in less than 24 hours again, but Chris and Nate’s relationship is certainly getting sweeter, which is definitely a plus (though on soaps it’s usually a bad sign…). Although I do get the feeling that even the writers aren’t sure how serious the relationship’s supposed to be. One minute they’re committed and in love, and the next they’re reminding us that they’ve only been together for five months; it’s like they can’t quite decide, which is kind of strange really. However, I have to say that I absolutely agree with Chris when he said that Nate is so different now from who he was when he first arrived, but he is still recognisable, and I think that’s primarily down to Meyne’s performance: he has particular quirks and mannerisms that have remained there since the beginning - but he hasn’t totally transformed– and the actual character development has been wonderful to watch, especially in the current storyline.

Thanks for the clip, kevvoi. Here are some spoilers for upcoming episodes (highlight below to read):
Friday 13th February 2015 – 7060
Kyle, Chris, Toadie and Karl make a big mistake.
Thursday 19th February 2015 – 7064
Chris and Nate expose the underwear thief.
Spoilers courtesy of The Perfect Blend and Southern Cross Media
Although neither of the boys is scheduled to appear the week commencing the 23rd February, it seems appropriate to mention that the 25th February will mark 5 years since Chris’ first appearance - just in case anyone was interested. Actually, I can kind of see now why people aren’t too thrilled about this baby storyline: watching a 21/22 year-old getting all excited about a ‘hypothetical baby that doesn’t even exist yet’ (to directly quote Chris from a couple of weeks ago) isn’t very entertaining or appealing personally. But it’ll be interesting to see where the storyline goes from here.

Apparently there have been rumours that James Mason (Chris) has left the show since he's been posting photos from America. However, nothing's been confirmed yet and there are people enquiring further into it. Personally, I reckon it's linked to Meyne's break from the show: writing Chris out as well as Nate for a short time might be easier than trying to explain why one's not around whilst the other is (particularly as they share so many scenes together). I'm sure we'll find out soon enough though.

Chris’ plan to go to New York may be thwarted by Nate
Wednesday 4th March 2015- 7073
As the Erinsborough Festival opens, Lucas and Vanessa make a surprise return.
Monday 9th March 2015- 7076
Nate’s discomfort about being a parent grows
Tuesday 10th March 2015- 7077
Nate lets Chris down
Although there’s still been no official confirmation about James Mason leaving, it doesn’t look great for him at the moment (in fact, rumour has it that Chris is being killed off). As I’ve previously mentioned, he’s been in L.A for a while now (and his parents have been visiting him), his IMDb reads that he’s been on Neighbours from 2010-2015, and there is a photo of the pool shot from the opening titles that has Mark, Nate and Tyler in it, but Chris has been removed. The producer was also approached about the rumours about Calen MacKenzie (Bailey) leaving and he said that ‘to ensure our loyal fans experience the full impact of our storylines, we are not confirming the contractual arrangements of current and guest cast’. Read into that as you will.

Here are the Chris and Nate related spoilers for upcoming episodes (highlight below to read):
Monday 9th March 2015- 7076
Nate subconsciously sabotages his future.
Tuesday 10th March 2015- 7077
Chris feels badly let down by Nate
Wednesday 25th March 2015- 7088
A pregnant Lucy returns to town with some news about her unborn baby which prompts Chris to realise that he’s become heavily invested in his child’s future. He confesses to Nate that he wants to be more involved with the child but Nate reacts badly when Chris proposes a solution to his dilemma.
Spoilers courtesy of The Perfect Blend and Soap World
Actually, what I suggested in the spoilers last week now seems inaccurate. Based on recent episodes and spoilers, it seems that Chris will move to New York so that he can raise the child, but Nate will stay behind. I guess that’s better than writing both of them out of the show, which was my first theory. Still no official confirmation about James leaving (though that’s hardly surprising), but this storyline does seem like the perfect opportunity to write an exit for.
It was great seeing Lucas and Vanessa back, albeit for a very short visit. It would have been nice to have shown them discussing the fact that Chris is no longer a mechanic (though I assume that happened over the phone off-screen) as well as introducing them to Nate. Speaking of, I actually really liked his scenes with Karl (even though the quiz plot was a bit strange considering that Karl’s been living in Erinsborough for 20 years whilst Nate’s only been there for six months), they have a really nice chemistry and their scenes are really fun now. Also, I loved the moment where Nate and Tyler were teasing Mark, and I hope that - regardless of whether Chris is leaving or not – they develop a friendship between Nate and Tyler since they’re both quite new and would balance each other out quite nicely.
