I think Olli did not invite him, he invited himself to see if he could get anywhere nearer that shag after the yesterday's events. He was getting insolent, too, probably thinking he's winning. And Olli did chuck him out when Christian came. Maybe Christian is going to explode tomorrow, one never knows what's next with them, but I thought Christian was decided to not get wound up by Ropp again. I agree that Rob probably invited himself; but Olli let him in, which is symbolic, whether it was intended to be or not. It would be nice to think that Olli's asking Rob to leave is as well, but in the main, Olli panders to Rob far more than he refuses him. -- side note, can they please sto dressing Max in that Fugli-tastic orange turtleneck? He looks like a scooby doo villain -- Holy crap, that was funny. ;D EDT: quoted too much

vlfan, i teared up a little bit, too. But you shouldn't worry about Chrolli breaking up, really, I just can't see it ever happening. Look at how fucking miserable they were today being away from each other for yet another night. I really don't think either of them will let a break up happen, i dont think they'd be able to live without each other. I don't think Christian was ever considering dumping Olli, but he might have worried that Olli would dump him.

I don't think Christian was ever considering dumping Olli, but he might have worried that Olli would dump him. Yep, ur exactly right. Cuz the spoiler for this spoiler pic said Christian apologizes in fear of Olli breaking up with him.

Just to say that I haven't been able to do my full caps set (and STILL waiting on being able to cap the last vlog) because the episode STILL isn't up in the Mediathek. If it hasn't turned up by, say, the coming afternoon, I'll cap from Nanna's base unsubbed Wuala file of the Chrolli scenes from the episode.x

Another really terrific episode. Jo and Thore are doing their best work on VL to date. Just excellent acting.
I thought this episode was great, especially those last 90 seconds. What I really liked the most was:
The loving gesture from Christian in making the effort to buy Olli those sweet flowers, breakfast rolls and a drink.
I stood up and cheered when Christian completely ignored Rob the snake, and kept his focus on Olli.
I loved that Olli acknowledged the sweet flowers Christian had made the effort to buy him. And jumped with joy when Olli more or less chucked Rob the snake out the flat he seems to be getting a little too comfortable in lately.
And that was a beautiful moment when Christian walked through the door and his and Olli's eyes just locked on each other. Olli was just about containing his joy at seeing his boyfriend standing in that doorway. And Christian's anger seem to melt away a little when he sat at HIS breakfast table with HIS boy friend, and Rob along with his odor had left THEIR flat.
I do give Christian a lot of credit for coming back to the flat with that nice bunch of flowers for Olli considering the shout down he got the day before. That was beautiful of him and shows how much he truly loves Olli. Plus, he is listening to advice...David's advice of not allowing Rob to slip his slimy body into his place. Although, I don't think that will ever happen. Olli only has eyes for Christian who really is the love of his life. I don't think Rob stands a chance no matter how hard he may try.
The cut between them both unable to settle into sleep, with Olli alone in that big old bed and Christian curled up on that too small couch, demonstrated how totally lost they are without each other.

I have to agree with T-Kat on the central conceit of this storyline that undermines it a bit for me: the notion that Olli could be so blind to his own history that nearly landed him in jail that he bounds after Rob like a little puppy with stars in his eyes about the potential success of his club.
The part of me that has been watching soaps for more than 25 years just shakes his head and says, yeah, we've been down this road before. Soaps often take the easy way out to tell a story. In a few months time, we'll be past this sad episode of Olli's character being undermined by the writers.
The other part of me wants to scream at Feiler and her team for undermining Olli's character. Why can't they do better than this? Tell a story differently without being at the expense of a character's history and integrity!
Don't get me wrong, Jo and Thore are acting the hell out of this. The two have long-proven their ability to tell the most complex of love stories with utter simplicity and with very little written material.
I'll give the writers credit for allowing these fine men to show a range of emotion, and to play it well. I'll give them credit for writing the boys a story. Granted, like Chroust admitted to us in NYC (their coming-together story could NOT be an A-story in the scheme of the show, according to the network) we seem to be at the similar mercy of the newtork here. My credit to the writers ends there.
Feiler and her team are woefully deficient in so many respects. One complaint, I've already made, is their willingness to sacrifice Olli's integrity to serve this story. The other is blatantly obvious in the way they gave us Rob.
Rob is no different than many other characters Feiler & Co have given us. So woefully unimaginative and one-dimensional it's shameful. Rob is a typical 19th Century villian straight out of melodrama. He is a character we are meant to boo and hiss at. 2glassgirl has his accurately portrayed in here TWICN with the drawn-on curly mustache and pointy-beard, plus the monacle.
Look at Tristan. So horribly irredeemable a character. Once the twincest story is over (will it ever be? PLEASE?) what do they intend to do with him? At least Jessica is finally getting her due by showing remorse, or something different to play than "I want icky Tristan so bad (for his $) that I'll do anything for him!" Eduard was written in much the same one-dimensional villianous way, except Hubertus was too fine an actor to be completely undone by Feiler's writing team. Even Maria these day, who had such potential to be complex, is nothing more than a caricature. The list goes on and on...
The Helena/Andi story is unimaginative. Really. They either fight and break up again and again because she's gullible and he has a short fuse, or they just kiss and f*ck all the time. *yawn*
Luckily, despite being so obvious a black-hat villain, Max is giving us a deliciously (delicious) threat to Olli & Christian. Feiler & Co have telegraphed it so blatantly that Rob is "bad" that as threats go, Rob can't be taken seriously. Max is a fine actor, and again, seems impervious to bad writing.
Rebecca? I can't take her so seriously because everything Feiler & Co have done to her all boils down to the word "LOSER". (shoplifting, early fights with Helena, etc.) Her lack of credibility as a character really undermines her ability to seriously threaten Christian and Olli.
So why is this about today's episode?
The writers are unimaginative. They're lazy.
Awwwww.... Olli and Christian got an "I feel sad" montage today. Andi and Helena had one last week. Yeah, the song is nice, but maybe Olli and Christian should talk. You could even play the song underneath. The writers could have put in a little effort on this one.
They slept in separate bed/places. Fine. That's believable. But to come back from that and repeat the tense and false pseudo-reconciliation. We saw that with the picnic. And the stable-sex. And sooooo many other times so far in this story.
Think outside the box! Repeating the same or similar story-telling devices robs these moments of the real emotional punch and impact this story can have!
Kudos again to Jo and Thore! They make this show seem a whole lot better than it really is. That's the mark of truly fine and talented actors!
Sorry if I seem bitter. It's because I really like the show that I care enough to think hard about this kind of stuff. And the potential it isn't living up to.

Sio: You're worse then me!! I liked the ending and I agree the throwing of the flowers on the table was kind of sweet I thought it was more, well, I bought these for you, but since the minute I'm gone you have him here, well, they can just dry up on the table. At least, that's the way I saw it, especially with that sort of disgusted look on Christian's face.

pffft.
lava lamps were never in fashion.. not even in the 70's.
lava lamps are what the changing rooms production team does to shabby all in one bedsits to make them sensory but compact 'living spaces'...
mind you looking at newnolimits (tacky, tacky, tacky) - maybe olli carried some of his design principles all the way upstairs to the bedroom. still it's nice that you got the wood behind the bed - which is so christian (as are most of the main features - cos he was there first) but olli's there in the little touches.
still can't get over their bed is ostensibly a sheet of plywood on 4 haphazard brick piles. surprised it's still standing.
anyway, i digress. lava lamps? no - not stylish. not 'really' stylish. coco chanel would never buy a lava lamp. not classic. 'trendy'. but since when was trendy ever a good catchword when it comes to your bedroom decor? reminds me of the guy who painted his entire house the colour of his football strip - newcastle (black and white stripes) with gold finishes.

Chroust is now a headwriter on AWZ, isn't he, but I can't say his storytelling interests me at all. I am afraid the Christian & Oliver story was once in a lifetime occasion. Feiler is returning to classical soap roots, that may not match Dostoyevsky with the psychology of the characters, but I do find it interesting to watch. I even like Arno's story with Charlie and that never happened before ;D

i actually think you have to love the characters, or at least connect to them - to enjoy a show or SL. for example i can appreciate why some people like lydia ansgar - but i'm not captivated because i just don't like the characters. but i actually think from an impartial POV - chrousts story is better. i know people hate comparisons, but in terms of obstacles for the advanced and settled, pre established gay couple, marc trumps rob and rebecca combined (which pains me to say cos i ADORE rob). but as some people pointed out, he's 2D and you can't really root for him, or get behind him, or even really understand or empathise with him. and rebecca. well... she's rebecca. marc on the other hand is better because he has actual motivation, so it provides a basic understanding for what he's doing. and also the fact that chroust has gone to great trouble to flesh him out - using roman's memories and old dreams to give him a background all his own - shows great respect for the couple he may very well come between. wasn't it someone famous who said, you're only as great as the enemy you face? and at the moment, with rob and rebecca - chrolli are playing in the minor league. rob is about the superficial, sex and drugs - so in response, when chrolli argue about rob - a gratuitous sex scene is usually the only repayment the fans get by way of resolution. and rebecca is like a 14 y/o and all her deceit and lies stain chrolli's relationship. they weren't this closed off and emotionally stunted until after they started interacting with rebecca. it's not horrific to watch on a day to day basis - but it's chipping away at who chrolli are. the foundation of what they stand for. being eachothers one and only - eachothers absolute truth and closest confidante. its like they've regressed. they deserve so much more than rebecca and rob. chroust is the better writer. just because he has more respect for the characters he writes for - and he exploits pre-established personality traits, or works hard to incorporate new traits into the fabric of their being. feiler just operates on an act now, pay/think later function. her characters are bent out of shape. she's all about the drama and the twists and turns. even in her more subtle stories - you can't predict longterm where they will go (even in my opinion if you are reading the spoilers which is unusual - because you have no clue how it will appear on screen, lots of things are missing from the spoilers that end up in the episode and vice versa) and you can't always predict how a character will act. which can be a good thing, done sensitively. it's just not though.

I don't think a high quality is necessary or better in this genre. As you said yourself, there must be a connection with the characters and you'll enjoy it. That's the part that is missing for me with the already mentioned AWZ. Yes, the quality can't be very low, but I will watch some awful over the top Mexican telenovela and enjoy it greatly.
I think Feiler is doing fine. And she actually does pay an attention to what happened in the past and incorporates it in the stories.
