Oh, and Janet's going to give Liberty birth control pills. Noah and Luke better of had SEX, by the time those scenes are shown for the other younger and STRAIGHT teen couple, who are supposed to be 14 and/or 15 years of age.

Noah and Luke better of had SEX, by the time those scenes are shown for the other younger and STRAIGHT teen couple, who are supposed to be 14 and/or 15 years of age. I just saw that. Oy. I am pretty indifferent to Parker/Liberty, though I adore Parker but if a 16 year old girl and a 14 year old boy have sex before two grown men in love and in a committed relationship with each other do, there will be hell to pay. I'll be interested in seeing part 2 of her "frank" discussion because at this point they have Noah/Luke running in circles with like a one trick pony but no real advancement in their relationship. It's always Noah having doubts about his worth and Luke helping him deal with it. And they end up right back where they started after a bit of angst. Problem is their issues are contrived and repetative at this point. I love the pairing despite the bad storytelling because I remember when it was magic to watch them. Now... Same song, barely a different verse.

B-chick - I'm not keeping up with the TWoP ATWT thread anymore, since I'm not really interested in the other storylines. I'm just following the show, via AE's liveblogs and it kills me that Liberty and Parker can make out, ALONE, in her newly found father's house, while Noah and Luke, can't seem to find ANY place of privacy, for them to kiss each other, let alone do MORE than just give each other really nice hugs all the time.

In the August 18 issue of New York magazine there is an article listing the five best (NY based) soap actors who are destined to go on to bigger things; and Van Hansis made the cut. Michael Logan said that Van is, "A sweet, tender, immensely brave actor."
The five were choosen because they don't overact, show restraint, and have natural charm.

QUOTE z13.invisionfree.com/vanhansis/index.php?showtopic=8998Syrus posted Carolyn's rant on the Van Hansis forum. "I don't understand why some fans get SO MAD when their shows don't write exactly what they want. If ALL MY CHILDREN's "Zendall" fans got "Happily Ever After," Zach and Kendall would be on an endless picnic with the kids, and Thorsten Kaye and Alicia Minshew would quit the show because they'd be bored to death. It's Daytime DRAMA, people. Ditto for the "Nuke" fans watching AS THE WORLD TURNS, most of whom I suspect do not regularly watch soaps. If they did, they would know that the longer it takes to tell a love story, the better it is. A good show lets the characters kiss, throws in a ton of obstacles and misunderstandings, and then brings them back together for another kiss during sweeps. But because Luke and Noah are gay, it's a conspiracy. Clint and Nora have yet to have sex on ONE LIFE TO LIVE, even though they are, ahem, mid-life. Is OLTL discriminating against them because of their age? Or just telling a good story? Get back to me when Rex and Gigi even hold hands---that's been eight months. I also wonder about the Nuke outrage at a time when no other show even has a gay character, much less a gay couple. With all this backlash, why would another soap risk it? It's a no-win situation---half the audience is mad that they are telling a gay story, and the other half is mad that it's not going fast enough. No one is saying, "Good job," to AS THE WORLD TURNS, so I guess I'll say it. That's the way you're supposed to tell a good soap story. Make 'em wait! But if those two crazy kids haven't hit the sheets in a year, get back to me." So here's my question. It's been over a year. Has anyone gotten back to her or called her on this? I'd LOVE to hear what she has to say now.

I'd LOVE to hear what she has to say now.I have to agree with her, a little. While I want to see Luke and Noah be intimate and affectionate towards one another, I also want to see them have on going storylines. Most daytime soaps have only done coming out stories, and then the gay charactes disappear. I have to give ATWT credit for keeping Luke and Noah involved in storylines, even though those storylines have often been stupid, poorly written, and poorly developed. But the quality of the storylines are the same for all the characters on the show. That being said, the camera tilt last year before Luke and Noah kissed was offensive, but I think we've gotten past that stage.

It's not really Nuke but it's kind of Nuke related in the sense that remember Noah & Luke having sex getting no press made folks wonder what was going on with TPTB and the soap mags? Well, the same is not true for AMC's Reese and Bianca getting married and also breaking a milestone so why are PGP not propping Nuke like AMC is Rianca? From the latest Suds Report:Here come the brides! OMFG: Are two gay characters actually tying the knot on daytime? Pinch me, because I never thought I’d see the day. “Our lesbians are cuter, indeed — in every way,” to paraphrase a certain lesbian-loving executive. This week, the historic wedding of Reese and Bianca goes off without a gay hitch. That is, until Kendall makes an icy toast to the newlyweds that will cement Alicia Minshew’s (Kendall) status as one of the most outstanding actresses in daytime (tune into Nelson Ratings for a huge rave on Minshew-Branco). If that wasn’t enough to fall in love with the anti-heroine all over again, Kendall literally runs into Greenlee on a motorcycle and does us all a favour. Ryan’s latest “true love” is presumed dead when her body is swept away by the cold Peapack waters. Rebecca Budig (Greenlee) leaves the canvas on Feb. 17. Poor Luke Kerr-Smythe!
In the meantime, run out and support this historic moment by purchasing this week’s Soap Opera Digest. Lynn Leahey and Stephanie Sloane gave prime real estate to this milestone (take that, World Turns). In fact, out.com is promoting the SOD cover and this momentous wedding tomorrow. Pfft, Proposition 8.
The Suds Digest asked Leahey why she devoted an entire cover image to Reese and Bianca’s wedding. The editorial director simply said, “When Soap Opera Digest learned about the upcoming wedding, of course we wanted to feature it on our cover. It’s a big moment for All My Children and a milestone for daytime.” That sound you hear? Roger Newcomb playing with himself.See: welovesoaps.blogspot.com/2009/02/all-my-children-to-feature-landmark.html

Thanks for posting the article. Even though TPTB on AMC are doing some pretty messed up things with the Bianca/Reese storyline, they are at least not hesitant at all in doing promotion for that pairing.
I'm glad that SOD has done a cover story on that couple's upcoming nupituals.

It seems to me that the answer may be that the two networks/companies have VERY different histories of handling gay/lesbian couples.
ABC and ABC Family are definitely more gay and lesbo positive and have a lot more gay visibility.
Also, Bianca has been an out lesbian on the show for a million years now and she's an adult and folks are used to her character.
Lastly, the reaction to lesbians (of the sort represented by Bianca) is always "better" than the reaction to gay men (of any sort) doing anything on television.
I actually think that should Jake and Van stay on ATWT there very well could be a "wedding" for Nuke in the future but would take years, I'm thinking 5.
Strategically, not hyping Luke and Noah having sex ahead of time kept the protesters from being able to gear up a campaign against the network previous to the event.
One the deed had been done and the word is out, well folks are going to find a way to watch it.
I would have hated to have this spoiled. I was really glad to be surprised.
Why did SOD or SOW not do a piece on the episode after the fact? I think it would be much more interesting instead of just complaining about not having the "scoop" ahead of time
Yeah, CBS may have lost some viewers that day who didn't know about the sex thing happening but now those same viewers will actually tune in more enthusiatically because you never know WHAT could happen.
Just like todays Surprise Nuke scene.

That was enjoyable. I'd like to think my karaoke of Olivia Newton-John is a bit better. I didn't even recognize that Modest Mouse song VH was doing at the end until halfway through it. Hee.

JAKE SILBERMANN IS DREAMY
I'm not ashamed to say it.
In reality it's all about grrl parts for me.
But, Jake kinda makes me wish he and I were both gay men for a day So I could invite him over for a glass of water.... I'm just saying.
