Chris Colfer placed #3 on AfterElton's Hot 100 list!

While many fans of Chris Colfer are no doubt disappointed the man who breathes life into Glee's Kurt Hummel didn't actually win this year's Hot 100, they should still celebrate his phenomenal showing. After all, only two other men got more votes (one of whom Chris is very familiar with) and Colfer is having an extraordinary year.

Actually, the twenty-year-old actor might be having the most extraordinary year any out actor has ever had. In addition to being the breakout character on one of the most popular shows on television, Colfer scored a surprise Emmy nomination, was named to the 2011 Time 100, has graced numerous magazine covers (including EW's cover story about bullying), and sold his first script.

Oh, and let's not forget, AfterElton readers did vote Chris number one on our recent AfterElton.com Gay-List which ranked the most popular gay celebrities in the world. Face it, this is Chris Colfer's world. We're just living in it.

Award-winning actor, Chris Colfer, will publish two books with Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, it was announced today by Megan Tingley, the division’s Senior Vice President and Publisher. Written for 8-12 year old readers, The Land of Stories will be simultaneously released in hardcover and e-book in the summer of 2012, and will be followed by a second untitled novel. The acquisition for world rights was made by Andrew Smith, Vice President and Deputy Publisher and Alvina Ling, Editorial Director, with Rob Weisbach of Rob Weisbach Creative Management acting on behalf of Colfer. The Land of Stories will be edited by Alvina Ling. Known for his role as “Kurt Hummel” on the critically acclaimed television series, Glee, Colfer is also a screenwriter who recently penned a pilot for the Disney Channel as well as the independent feature Struck by Lightning.

A fast-paced adventure that uniquely combines our modern day world with the enchanting realm of classic fairytales, The Land of Stories tells the tale of twins Alex and Conner Bailey. Through the mysterious powers of a cherished book of stories, Alex and Conner leave their world behind and find themselves in a foreign land full of wonder and magic where they come face-to-face with the characters they grew up reading about.

"When I was ten years old, I promised myself that if I ever had the opportunity to write this book, I would jump at the chance,” said Colfer. “This book has been at the core of my imagination for a long time and I’m excited and nervous to share it.”

For me, the most difficult episode I've had to do is the "Prom Queen" episode, when Kurt was crowned prom queen. Just picture me in my bed at home, reading the script, not expecting Kurt to be crowned prom queen, and I read that he's in a kilt and tiara, dancing to "Dancing Queen." I was like, "No, this cannot happen." I was so concerned they were just pushing it way too much, because Kurt has been so helpful and progressive for some people, and I was afraid this would damage that—it was just too, too much. But they assured me it would be done in a great way. Originally it was written that Kurt was persuaded by his boyfriend to go back in and accept the crown. But I asked them, "Please let Kurt do that for himself and not be persuaded by a second party." And they changed it for me, and it did turn out to be a beautiful episode. I was so wrong.

For some reason this quote just explained so much about the hallway scene to me. I don't even know why
