It's not bad, IMO, but I don't love it. I just can't seem to find a character I connect to so I can root for him/her.

Wasn't Sydney run over by Samantha? It's one thing to say she faked her death, but it's another to change who hit her. Or did I misinterpret the "someone from my past" line? Or just plain misremember the 11 year old episode?

If we could decide who we loved, it would be much simpler, but less magical.

I seen the actor whose played Jonah in another show and I liked him there. I haven't really watched the show or his scenes. But I think he is cute.

Michael Rady has been in several things I liked. Swingtown, Greek, and Sleeper Cell, where, as AE's Flying Monkey put it, he played gay. Very, VERY gay. Like, they filmed him spitting in his palm gay.

They need to stop doing so many flashbacks... its getting really annoying....

I thought ep 4 was a definite improvement and I could feel myself pulled into some of the storylines... except for Lauren's. The prostitution to pay for schools storyline has been done to death and I don't find it interesting at all to watch.

Is Melrose Place any good? Have they given Caleb anything to do yet? I want to watch, but I am kinda hesitant, I'm still not sure if I'll like the show..

I enjoyed it, despite it being the first Syndey-less episode. Jane's appearance was pretty contradictory to her 1.0 persona, but she wasn't exactly a fan-favorite, so I think the change is for the better.
Auggie is definitely my favorite male character, although I admit that's based largely on how hot he is in the uber-sexy chef's uniform.
I like Ella and Violet, but sadly my favorite women are the guest-stars from version 1.0. And I think that's only going to get more true.

Ok I've only watched about 15 minutes of this show (from last night's episode), but when I saw how Auggie told Jonah that Riley kissed him and not the other way around I totally got flashbacks to Chrolli's beginnings (although Olli and Coco mutually kissed, when Christian found out, all Olli cared about was Christian knowing that Olli wasn't into Coco but...) So I immediately started thinking about how awesome it would be if Auggie had feelings for Jonah and one day Jonah finding out and slowly realizing his feelings for Auggie. I looked up info on the show and it looks like neither one is gay or bi, but I still think it would be a great storyline. It could even drag out for a few years to make the fans really want it by then. I just love the idea of friends becoming lovers, and seriously, Jonah and Riley have zero chemistry. The same goes for Auggie and Riley. Riley is just a blackhole for anyone interesting.

Jonah and Riley aren't friends, though. And the kiss wasn't a random thing like on VL, Augie's the ongoing third in a triangle with Jonah and Riley (well, fourth in a square with Riley, Jonah, and Ella.)
Personally, I'm pulling for Riley to be the killer, because she's boring and I'd like her to be carted off to prison/killed.
On another note, I surprisingly enjoyed Jo's appearance. She wasn't a favorite on the original, but her hard edge and cynicism worked well here. Sadly, the episode ended by restoring her to her Jo 1.0 status, so it's just as well she's not sticking around.
Whatever happened to Jane, another lesser light from the original who became much more interesting this go-round?

Dont get too attached to either Augie or Violet as both actors will be gone after the winter break according to EW.com. I believe they exit after episode 13.
I don't dislike Riley - especially as the drop of color on this show - but TPTB need to give her more of an edge or have her get her hands dirty.

Looks like Caleb is gone now that Amanda is back. *sigh* There goes my eye candy for the show since Auggie will also be gone in the new year as well.

I left the show when I heard about the upcoming cast changes, since they were dropping my favorite of the new characters. But I forgot to take it off my DVR, and found the first Amanda episode waiting for me when I got home, so I watched it.
I wouldn't necessarily assume Caleb's gone. There were all sorts of polticking and firings on the old show, and it often came back around. Since there are only three (soon to be two) male regulars on the show, they might be hesitant to drop another male character, especially one who now has reason to be a foil to Amanda.
I think I'll stick around for a couple more eps to see the murder tie up, but they'll have to be EXCELLENT eps to keep me past that.
I hear what you're saying about Riley. It would be a shame for the new show to imitate the original by dropping the characters of color early on and turning all-white. At the same time, though, I just REALLY don't like Riley or Lauren. I'd rather they dump them and get interesting characters of color on, rather than keeping them boring or trying to abruptly transform them into characters they're not.
