Ugh. Don't really want to say much about this. Honestly, there is so much that bothers me with this new direction and frankly as much as I think that Jessica Fox is a good actress so much have happened to Nancy in this pass year already I don't think she need to be added to this story also she already had to deal with a storyline concerning attempted rape. I also disappointed that the focus is being shift away for male rape victims.

Call the cops on Dodger! Physical assault? Lock John Paul's mute behind up for four months! (and don't think karma isn't coming for your assault of Rick, Sonny) But sexual assault? Even when the police have the DNA evidence of the rapist on file? Why does that need to be punished? I mean, John Paul might actually have to say the name Finn, which might make him relive the rape. Yes I know that he's said the name Finn a number of times since being raped, in scenes that did not involve the police, and he seemed fine. But he might totally break down if he actually has to string together the sentence: Finn raped me. Yes I know he's survived rape... prison... and now homelessness; but those three words, could be like a knife to his heart. And John Paul must not ever be sad. Why are you thinking to ask me about his responsibility to speak up, so that other's won't get hurt. NOT EVERYONE IN REAL LIFE REPORTS. That's where the logic train, filled with John Paul apologists, likes to travel.
Hollyoaks has ruined this character for me.

I also disappointed that the focus is being shift away for male rape victims.I wonder if DS will contact Craig Duncan, the male rape counselor that they initially interviewed back in November 2013, to get his thoughts about how this storyline about a male rape victim has completely gone off the rails? JP spending months in jail during the aftermath of his rape was absolutely inane. Will JP feel any sense of guilt over Nancy's attack by Finn, due to him keeping silent about exactly who his attacker was this entire time? How is Diane going to face the community of the village, once it's known that her step son has committed these crimes? Will Finn actually face justice (and not HOL "justice" by being killed off) of being arrested, face a trial and whatever happens (conviction or release)? What really is interesting is that viewers are beyond pissed that HOL felt the need to add another victim to Finn's belt and it's a female this time. It's like, all these months of JP's trauma and silence didn't matter, until a female had to be almost raped in order to "show" the terror of Finn continuing to be in that village. Even after he attacked Blessing. The same thing about Maxine being physically, mentally and emotionally being abused by Patrick. Hollyoaks has been giving out extremely mixed messages about THEY rationalize the importance of violence be it if it's based on a female victim or a male victim.

Not that shocked. They did it regarding Brendan for ALL of his storylines, including his exit.

Hollyoaks has ruined this character for me.There could have been so much more explored than what was actually shown and it kills me that this storyline has turned off viewers from characters that were liked in the past. I just cannot understand why they had JP being jailed and not have that situation cause him to tell the truth. What does that say to ANY victim of rape (be they female or male), that if you keep silent about your attack, that you might be sent to prison? That it'll be worse if you actually name your attacker. Or how do you deal with the guilt about not naming your attacker and he or she strikes again? This entire crappy storyline, is making me think about the most recent opinion piece on rape storylines for Daytime Soaps from this soap columnist here in the US. I really hate how the topic of rape is scene as a "shade of gray" in the daytime soap industry. Especially if the attacker is well liked, hot, attractive and sexy.

It seems that, that when Hollyoaks decided to do this storyline, the wanted it to be a part of the 'Break the Silence' campaign which is a good thing because a lot of victims both male and female who are raped remain silent. The problem with the storyline is that they didn't have JP (the victim ) remain silent in a way that was effective or understandable for the viewers prospective.
Firstly, they had him remain only half silent, when someone is silent about rape the usually don't report it, but in this case JP reported the only thing he refused to do is name is name his attacker. The the show doesn't even focus on the reason why he's not naming his attacker, shame, fear as neither of these tings have been seen on screen, even upon his release from jail when JP and Finn interacts they have JP stand up to Finn who is basically using the rape as a threat and at no point did JP think that this boy is dangerous to the community.

Let's be honest, we all know that this was going to happen. HO just doesn't know how to deal with social issues, they can fake it as much as they want, but they should avoid serious themes. It's a pity that they never recieve the backlash they deserve

This must be the Six weeks of Ridiculous Interviews for Hollyoaks! I can't with this RadioTimes foolishness... "…as frustrating as it may be for the audience, it was really important that we let the story play out in a truthful way…” I don’t think he knows what truthful means; somebody get Bryan Kirkwood a dictionary! "We have closely followed advice from male rape survivors…" …who told you to imprison a rape survivor?!"…and wanted to send the message that, although it can take time for victims of male rape to come forward, this won’t prevent them from being listened to…" …is that the message John Paul was trying to convey when he said that since Holly didn’t want to report her rape, Cindy should listen to her, which he learned, as a teacher?! The problem here was never John Paul getting someone to listen to him; it was his refusal to speak the word FINN to the police!"Rest assured that for John Paul, justice will prevail." Remember when PJ Brennan — in the midst of a ridiculously extended storyline, that saw all of the characters on Hollyoaks ignoring the fact that Doug was married to Ste — said that the issues surrounding the unmentioned marriage 'will get sorted!' They didn’t before he was killed off. Food for thought...

Oh I hope John Paul gets justice, he's barely holding it together as it is. And him getting some justice would help him.

Which means that something horrible will happen to JP or Ste (since they're together) right before Finn's actually caught or JP admits that he was raped by him.

True, considering they let Silas escape prison to go on murdering people. This is Hollyoaks after all, so as close to justice as John Paul can get. Hopefully he will at least get some counseling to help to move on from what happen to him. I remember John Paul always being so full of life, he looks like a stiff wind could blow him over now. At least he has Matthew to keep his mind focus on, I know sometimes when rape victims don't have something to focus on/to get out of bed for they can go to dark places.

Yet, JP had to go to jail for his "dark place period". I think that soaps think that counseling scenes are something that are just not needed for the development of their storylines. At least regarding Hollyoaks. Why isn't Sienna going to a court mandated therapist, while she's out of the hospital? She kidnapped Tom for weeks on end. She should be having weekly sessions or just say that she's seeing a damn therapist. Tom shouls be seeing a therapist as well. It must bother him seeing Sienna around the village. That boy should be on the cusp of losing his mind after all the damn trauma in his young life and it'l probably never stop.

Yeah Hollyoaks seem to glaze over any of the mental need or help any of their characters should be getting.
Why was John Paul in jail in the first place?

I think that JP had hit Robbie after another situation of being blackmailed and manipulated by him. This was before Robbie knew that Finn had raped JP.

If John Paul comes forward as a rape victim and if he tells about Finn. Since this is Hollyoaks wouldn't everyone not believe him like they did with Lynsey and Silas. And Finn will just amp the ante and hurt other people before being exposed?

It funny, how much little faith viewers have in Hollyoaks when it come to dealing with issues. It was announced that Amber (the girl that Finn have a child with ) would be returning for a couple of episodes and most viewers suspected that it was being done in an effort to redeem Finn.
I don't think this is the case, but then again 'it's Hollyoaks'

So, Ste survives his overdose and goes on some sort of "fight for his man's honor" quest. Which he screws up (which is typical for Ste) and ends up having sex with a total stranger.
Viewers stated that they liked seeing "Scalie Ste", so they got to suck this stuff up. Hollyoaks is giving them what they wanted to see: Ste being "true to himself".

Why is Ste's family planning to leave the village?
Ugh Ste, I know it's a soap. But why do they have to have him cock it all up after his OD. It's just so blah and the person he has sex with probably shows up again at the worse possible time.

Has anyone heard or read anything about the actors that portray Sam and Danny Lomax deciding to leave Hollyoaks for good? I don't think their departure is long term.

If John Paul comes forward as a rape victim and if he tells about Finn. Since this is Hollyoaks wouldn't everyone not believe him like they did with Lynsey and Silas. And Finn will just amp the ante and hurt other people before being exposed? Finn has already threatened to rape Robbie & Phoebe, beat Blessing... and is nearing an attack of Nancy. Meanwhile, John Paul can't bring himself to say the name Finn, leaving his former students & the entire village prey to a violent rapist. ...and Sam already told John Paul that he probably lied about the rape... So, given that that criteria has been met, I need this storyline over, now. I needed it over the day JP was raped, to be honest.

As for Ste they are trying to hard to bring drama to is character, that even for a soap is starting to lose his realism and believability. Just days after nearly dying from a drug overdose he's kidnapping someone, it's too stupid at this point, they are burning out his character and I feel the same way about Nancy too much is being thrown at these characters with little or no effect. Also I don't think Ste cheats on JP,it looks like they might split after what happens with Finn. Difficult Diva: There are rumors that Sam and Danny will be involve in a car crash (the one shown at the end of the six weeks of summer video) and many people are suspecting Sam (Lizzie Roper ) is leaving because the actress is currently doing a play that ends at the end of August and have not been in work since June however when question she said that she on a break. I not sure but she be a little to open about her absence from the shown and Hollyoaks usually force to keep quite. But then again Holly Weston (Ash)was quite open that she started a new project and also said she was on a break. As for Danny (Steven) have been quite on twitter lately so it hard to gauge what he is up to but I've seen stuff suggesting that he still in Liverpool. What I do know there was a leaving party that seem to indicate that one of the Lomaxes is leaving. Don't take my absolute word for it but it does seem that the next big stunt for October also involves the Lomax and Camron

Ugh, is this soap doing the two steps forward, five steps back with these two? I miss the earlier days of Hollyoaks, back in the McDean era. Where there wasn't this constant drama without some fun stuff to balance it out. And the characters had a bit more realistic storylines.
