i'm sure there is more to all this than just JP-falls-in-love-quick-fast-with-a-guy-thet's-not-Craig Part 22. LOL I mean unless James is really hurting for coin I doubt he would come back to HO unless Bryan enticed him with a really interesting story/journey...

I don't think Danny Lomax is going to be a major love interest for JP, form the spoiler I seen it looks like they quickly hook up and break up.(Remember how Vincent was meant to be a love interest for Phebee)
Plus it seems that whatever Danny is up to will cause trouble with others in the village not just JP
It summer in Hollyoaks and nearly 2 months since the last murder, aside from Danny we have Will,Trevor,Dr.Browning,Anna,Sienna and Patrick roaming the village, I won't be surprised if someone don't drop dead soon. (I'm placing bets on Ash)
As for Doug and Ste, it cannot be a coincidence that Doug and JP break up around the same time Ste will be struggling with his mothers dying and if he have it in him to kill her. The show have been gearing up for these to either fuck of fight for a while now. I don't think it will be a permanent reunion but I won't be surprised something happen between them, and Doug would either leave the village or ask JP for a second chance.

It seems that JP story might be him sleeping around trying to fill he hole that Craig have left. I won't be surprised that the producers are bending over backwards to try and get Guy Burnet for one episode on their 18th anniversary.
I think the problem is not how Doug view himself, he knows that he should be treated better, I think it more to do with how he thinks others see him, as unworthy look at his reaction to JP trying to get out of tea with the family. This is why he allow people to use him, it his way of saying I can be of use to you please like me.
George,Phoebee and Vincent all three living with substitute families and common struggle of homelessness and friendship love vs romantic love.
Ste is Ste, I know better but I rather not act better
Tilly and Esther, this whole relationship just rubs me the wrong way, Tilly dumps Esther and while not taking part in the bullying herself knowingly turned a blind eye to what was going on, it feels to guilt trip.

Anthony in the backlot colum wrote "Plus, there are rumors the show is going to do a rather shocking gay storyline that I don’t believe they have the guts to do. But we’ll have more if those rumors come to pass"
So what are the rumours? lately is a lot more interesting to speculate than the proper storylines

Has anyone seen any info about the actor portraying Danny? They released info about the guy who propositions Sinead and the info about the actress from Emmerdale joining the show later on in the year. So, Danny could definitely be a minor character involved with JP. I just thought of something, if Ste actually does go through with granting his mom's request to die, he'll finally have the last piece to truly connect him with Brendan: being a killer and it would count for the death toll of Hollyoaks characters.

I don't think it will be a permanent reunion but I won't be surprised something happen between them, and Doug would either leave the village or ask JP for a second chance. But think of the hints James has given about his 'big dark storyline' - that it will involve a new male character, that this male character will affect JP and others in the village - and it fits with this Danny bloke who we are told is going to be turning several peoples life's 'upside down' and has 'skeletons in the closet'. So if I am right and Danny/JP is the big 'dark storyline', I'd expect it to be more than just a quick hook up because that doesn't sound like something that would have much of an impact on JP at all. The only thing that confuses me slightly is we've had gay domestic violence with Stendan. We've got Patrick controlling and manipulating Maxine (which according to spoilers is going to get worse) and Mercy and Browning doing the whole messed up/bad romance thing. So what could they do with this relationship between JP and Danny to make it 'dark' that they haven't already done recently/are already doing? At the minute I feel that the majority of relationships in HO are pretty messed up and we already have our fair share of villains and bad boys. How will Danny be any different to them? However it is interesting that we have no information yet on Danny, which is unusual if he is going to be a major character. That in itself points more at a temporary character so I am completely confused. I think your idea about JP sleeping with lots of people to try and fill the hole that Craig left is interesting but I don't think they are writing it that way. I think it would be a lot more clear if that was the route they were going for (maybe have him looking at photos of Craig or something, drinking heavily, being depressed etc). Instead I get the impression that this is just lazy writing and we are meant to believe that JP's sudden love for Doug is genuine and that this is normal behaviour. The writers never had much of an imagination when it comes to storylines for JP beside making him a constant love interest so this is just the same old unimaginative crap from them.

I think we'll more information by the end of the week early next week, they did put out who the Roscoe where last minute, but usually there is some leak by now and I've seen nothing.
I think he'll be a temporary character too, but what ever happens have long term ripple effect, even the spoiler said his secrets will be quickly known. That why I'm thinking that it will be a love interest but I don't think it will be a long term relationship.
As for the rumors the show is going to do a rather shocking gay storyline that Anthony doesn't believe they have the guts to do. I have no idea what it could be.
What have not been done before?

That's hard to say. Lots of soaps try to do just about anything you can think of, but either stop short or abandon the plans (or do them poorly). So, I don't know.

Really, all it takes is screwing the wrong person... We were shown what an affect sleeping with someone who has more invested in the act than you do can result in. And this is something JP has always done - do his own thing w/o giving no never mind about anyone else. Personally, I've always thought that could have been another path with JP/Craig had Craig not reciprocated - JP becoming an obsessed stalker after the initial shag. LOL
also, I do think someone will die - most likely Doug, because that just seems like the trajectory of his character... maybe, I'm wrong? /
EDIT: i can already see JP/Danny shagging, and then JP goes to take a shower and his phone rings... Danny goes to check it out, the name 'Craig' is on the screen, and Danny deletes the text/phone call from the archive. LOL

Oh, HO always trying so hard, and failing so hard. Always gearing up for climaxes, but with such cheap tricks that the end result for the big stuff prepared inevitably tastes stale to me.
I've long accepted that they'll never do right by the character of Doug, but this is all either ridiculously hilarious or hilariously ridiculous. I may not be aboard the Doug-JP forever train, but the dynamic between the actors and characters is really, really great. It's not forced or obviously worked hard on, and it could have easily stayed a good casual something or a casual thing that gets built up and surprises the characters and maybe even viewers like myself. Instead, it is so very obvious as expected that these last few moments have all been thrown together by TPTB as conduit to facilitate that infamous big JP-centered story. I get that Doug is their go-to character for this kind of transference, and I can even buy him having feelings for Ste still or being cautious of a serious love story now, but HO tactics are too transparent with their fast execution to make much motivation appear genuine, especially considering those Ste or love-fear feelings of Doug's will likely be anything but a true focus anyway. Maybe next they could come up with a new friend for him to play sidekick to then inevitably mourn after their epic death and grieve over for 2 hot minutes. Not like they could give him anything else, like even something so small and original as a divorce. Luckily, the actors and their dynamic work in the moment, I'd even say with PJ, the already good James/JP is even more natural in the game and the reciprocation especially which I did not necessarily expect, otherwise it'd all be even sadder.
The Vincent scenes I saw were quite decent too though. Ste should just turn all serial killer once and for all and join his happily ever after in jail for all I care; now that'd be a sunset ending I'd root for.
Anyway, this show.

Ste should just turn all serial killer once and for all and join his happily ever after in jail for all I care; now that'd be a sunset ending I'd root for. Anyway, this show. But that's the problem. Hollyoaks treated it as 'casual' and thus it was obviously going nowhere fast. Hollyoaks don't like casual when it comes to their gay relationships. They prefer big epic gay love affairs, forbidden love and angsty love triangles. A casual relationship shouldn't have to translate to a couple given the bare minimum amount of screentime but it did with JP and Doug because these writers have no imagination and they find anything less than continuous relationship angst to be boring when it comes to the gay characters, particularly JP. So they went back to their tried and tested formula of having Doug back at square one, still in love with his ex and JP 'dejected' after yet another failed relationship. I do disagree though that Doug has been used to facilitate the JP storyline. If anything, JP's sudden declaration of love comes across as plot device to make Doug admit his feelings for Ste. JP didn't need a failed relationship with Doug to make him pursue Danny. He would have pursued him anyway because this is JP and he's rarely without a love interest of some sort.

The story climaxes with her breaking into his house and stabbing him then attempting to stab his wife too. From what I remember it was all very silly and soapy. I can't remember a similar stotyline happening with a gay couple but I have no desire to watch JP in this sort of storyline. Hasn't he suffered enough relationship disasters by now? I'd prefer if his 'dark' storyline didn't involve a new man but this is John Paul so of course it does. As for Doug, these latest spoilers have led to lots of speculation that he may be leaving because the character is just going round in circles now.

I think that more fear from some and wishful thinking by others, all the characters in Hollyoaks go round in circles,at some point.
Both the spoilers and the fact PJ is back in NYC added to the speculations, while I can't say Doug will be there by the end of the year, I'm pretty sure that PJ will be back filming. A lot of people are jumping to conclusions base on actors filming patterns but what I think people need to realise that with BK at the helm and Emmett's departure more characters are being focused on and because of the way Hollyoaks filmed the actors have more time off, plus they have being working on weekends to give the staff longer Summer breaks like they do around Christmas
we don't know exactly the reasoning behind response, while I think we all can agree that Doug may still love Ste in some way there have been no indications that he wants to get back with Ste, it could simply mean that he is not ready to get so invested in a new relationship or by Doug admitting his feelings he simply might not trust JP's.
On a side note, I realise that the show have been Drug dealing/trafficking past more lately. He himself brought it up with JP when he said he faced down drug lords in Thailand and living to tell the tale I wonder if his past is connected to Trevor.

Doug doesn't move on as a character. He is always drawn back into Ste's orbit even though Ste himself has scenes and storylines that don't involve Doug. Doug's best friend is now dead (though you wouldn't know that judging by how fast he seemed to get over it), I doubt he and JP will remain friends after this mess and the writers seem to have forgotten the Doug and Leanne friendship at the minute. So Doug's quite isolated at the minute and his existence in Hollyoaks seems set to revolve around Ste and there's not much they can do with that unless Ste returns Doug's feelings. Right now I see little to suggest that Ste loves Doug back. I could maybe see him using Doug for comfort sex (wow, reminds me of Christan from VL ) during the storyline with Ste's mother but I can't see them getting back together properly or long term. And yes I don't deny that all characters go round in circles but some do so more than others. Edit: I see that you added more after I posted. Well from what speculation I read, people weren't jumping to conclusions about PJ leaving because of filming schedules but more because they were struggling to see a future for the character if he couldn't move on from Ste and if Ste didn't feel the same. Yes Ste sill loves Brendan but Brendan isn't in the show anymore so Ste still has to do his own thing (the same can be said for JP/Craig) but with Ste still in the village, the writers could have Doug moping over Ste forever if they wanted too.

The guy portraying Danny Lomax has been revealed and IMO, he's quite the looker.
I'm not worried about PJ or Doug leaving anytime soon. He's probably going to be involved with Ste and the Pauline storyline.

I'm surprised that they've cast an actor in his 40's to play a love interest for John Paul. But then I guess Spike, Craig and Kieron were all older than JP so presumably he has a thing for older men.
There's rumours going around that Danny is 'playing it straight' with a wife and child at home, whilst having an affair with JP on the side. Personally I hope these rumours aren't true because that sounds dull as anything and not all that different to JP being Craig's 'dirty little secret' whilst he was dating Sarah.

So Danny has "a lot of skeletons " in the closet that could turn the world of a lot of the residence up side down, I wonder what that could be. EDIT: I heard about the wife and child rumours too, I hope they are not true also,it been done over and over again. If they are true lets bet his child is a student, and if Doug sticks around JP uses Doug to cover the affair I wonder if they might attempt to do a sexual abuse student storyline seeing as the rumour was they drop the Seamus/Charlie storyline because they didn't want to go there with the young actor.

I have to admit, he looks more like JP's type in that photo than in some of the beardy pics that came up on google images! I have no idea what the 'dark' storyline will be but I doubt it will live to expectations. James Sutton is known to exaggerate in interviews and the very fact that it involves yet another love interest makes it disappointing to me already. If they wanted JP to go with a messed up older guy, they should have just paired him with Patrick!

LOL i do agree with you on James' tendency for hyperbole... but then, at the same time, on paper sometimes stuff is more interesting than how it plays out on screen. I remember when there were leaks that Craig was gonna have a coming out SL, and peeps was sure it would be a derivative mess, lo and behold it was not, at all! Stuff really does depend on the players. Jake Hendriks was kind of terrible, which is why I don't think that SL worked, at all. and I don't think HO is using Patrick because, well, he's not gay. LOL Contrary to what peeps think, I don't think soap writers change a character's sexuality on the fly. anyway, I'm leaning toward the older-married-closet-case-guy-with-kid(s)-affair speculation... JP really seems to get off on creeping behind someone's back. Maybe, what happens, is when they're found out the wife shoots him and he's paralyzed?

I'm surprised that they've cast an actor in his 40's to play a love interest for John Paul. But then I guess Spike, Craig and Kieron were all older than JP so presumably he has a thing for older men. There's rumours going around that Danny is 'playing it straight' with a wife and child at home, whilst having an affair with JP on the side. Personally I hope these rumours aren't true because that sounds dull as anything and not all that different to JP being Craig's 'dirty little secret' whilst he was dating Sarah. Why not? The guy is a hottie and it fits JP's behavior to fall for somebody, while he's pining for someone else. Also, it's fantastic that there are OLDER gay characters being written on a soap, especially Hollyoaks. Now, I think the actor looks fine, with or without the beard. Well, if we can have numerous "young men coming out of the closet" storylines, then why can't there be numerous "older men/husbands/fathers keeping their true orientation secret from everyone" stories? Vincent's in the closet. We recently had it with Brendan Brady. We recently had it with Doug Carter.

Ste and Freddie are BOTH involved in legitimate businesses, yet BOTH of them are stupid to get involved in a deal, with Paul Browning in charge.
Ugh...
Watch it'll be Freddie who gets stabbed and Ste feels guilty, because he got him involved.

This is the spoiler that has sparked the speculation that Danny has a secret family: Source: www.digitalspy.co.uk/soaps/s13/hollyoaks/spoilers/a493761/3643-sienna-stoops-to-a-new-low.htmlFor me I think it's too obvious for Danny to be talking to his wife. I think we will be lead to assume that he is but this spoiler is only 2 episodes after the one where JP first sees Danny and I personally don't think they will make it that obvious this soon into the storyline. I also had to laugh at JP kissing the guy two days after meeting him. He doesn't waste any time does he?
