Cast photo for season 26. It's interesting that Ferry is next to Buddy Vedder (Rover). Maybe a coincidence or maybe they'll be in a storyline together. Of course we don't know how much will change with Ferry's departure from the show.

The new season is getting closer and closer. First we got the cast photo and now we have the first spoilers.
After seeing Lucas and Rover next to each other on the cast photo I paid extra attention to the Rover spoilers. He gets a job and he finds out something about his employer. In his first episode he tried to get a job at De Rozenboom but I can't imagine what he might find out about Laura. He already knows she was the mother of Linda's first boyfriend Arnie. Then I started thinking, what if he starts working for X-Selfie? If Lucas and Rover are going to be involved with each other (in whatever way) that would make sense.

I'm trying to think of another example of an actor getting fired so publicly and then continuing to work for the show for months afterwards. I'm sure it's happened before lots of times that a fired actor continues to film his/her character's exit story, but usually the actor is allowed to announce that he or she is leaving the show. GTST didn't want to just get rid of Ferry, they wanted to humiliate him. Perhaps he deserved what he got, but seeing how all say he is otherwise a joy to work with and he has really contributed a lot to GTST's success over the past several years, it's sad that the producers weren't bigger about it.
It's possible (though unlikely, I suppose) that the public humiliation was meant to shock Ferry into reforming himself and, if at the end of the 10 weeks of shooting he seems to have turned the corner, they'll announce that they've worked things out with Ferry and he will continue as Lucas. Considering that he plays the show's most popular character, there's incentive to do this, I think. Of course, this assumes that Ferry wants to stay.

We usually know it when actors have to leave against their own will. It happened with Raynor and more recently with Elvira.
It's also possible the show and Ferry discussed how this would get out in public. Ferry told the truth right away so maybe he didn't want to lie about it.

Just seeing the cast photo is always so exciting. Ahhhh. I really hope there is some way for Ferry to return once he's well and able.

Love the cast photo. I don't know why, but every-time I read the name Rover, I think of the American Children's playground game Red Rover. LOL en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Rover

In Dutch 'Rover' actually means robber/bandit.

Thanks to Google translator, I've been reading about Ferry's situation in the Dutch media. I did not know that his manager also left him after he got fired. His manager was Ruud's mother, Linda. (She is also Ruud's manager, of course.) She said that Ferry had recently become very stubborn, stopped taking her advise and made what she considers to be bad career choices. So it seems like Endemol weren't the only ones with growing frustrations with Ferry. That seems consistent with a drug problem - becoming increasingly erratic. Ten weeks doesn't seem like enough time to win back the show's trust, but perhaps they will leave the door open to his return if he proves to have mended his ways.
I was reading some articles about Ferry's emotional return to the GTST set and it seems like some things have been said about Ferry's departure to the effect of, "You never know what's going to happen." I may have mistranslated what that means, though. But perhaps a small sliver of hope? Ferry is doing both a stage musical and filming a movie apparently, which is a lot of demands on his time. This probably didn't fill Endemol with confidence that he'd be showing up on time for filming.

Its a true shock to hear about Ferry being fired. I swear, my blood ran cold.
Hmm. But Lucas has an international following, so I wouldn't think they'd recast it, or be completely against the idea of him ever returning. It just may be awhile. And thats if Ferry even wants to come back because his career could take him elsewhere. It makes me even sadder to think he won't even get as great an exit as he's earned after all this time.

We don't know if he won't get a great exit. Right now Ferry is back at the show filming for several weeks/a couple of months. From what I understand we will last see him in December.

Given the situation, I just assumed they'd just simply write him out. But if he's set to air as late as December, then thats promising.
I can't even think how I'd like him to go though.

As long as they don't kill him off. I don't think they will.

I just watched Friday's episode and at the end of the episode there's an interesting Rover preview for Monday. Rover is working as a bellboy at De Rozenboom when suddenly one of the male guests accidentally touches him. Rover has an angry reaction ("Keep your hands off me!") and he pushes this man away. Obviously this scene means something. He's either gay and overreacts when a man touches him or he overreacts because his father was abusive. Or a combination of the two of course. An abusive father would explain why Linda would leave a wealthy life and move to Meerdijk without all the luxury.

Maybe he's gay and got involved with the wrong man who sexually abused him.

Something definitely happened in Canada and Rover's mother Linda knows about it. After the incident at De Rozenboom Rover goes home and tells Linda: "I did it again. I can't do it. What happened with that man..."
But we don't find out the reason yet. I still think Rover can be gay or bi, but I don't think what happened to him necessarily has something to do with that.

Actress Stijn Fransen has been cast as Sam Dekker, Rover's sister.

The new Lucas spoiler. A bit cryptic. But I think I know what it's about. On October 1 the show celebrates the 25th anniversary with an hour-long episode that takes place (partly) in Ireland. Zeger, Wiet's new crazy boyfriend, has a mansion there. I think Zeger will ask Wiet to come to Ireland and I think Wiet will ask Lucas to go as well.

So Wiet is leaving the show?

I don't think so... Anna will probably rescue Wiet from Zeger. With a little help from others, like Lucas perhaps.

The episode that celebrates the 25th anniversary of the show (October 1) is not going to be an hour long like I mentioned earlier, but almost an hour and a half long. It will air from 8:00 PM to 9:25 PM. Most of it will take place in Ireland. The show hints at someone not surviving this episode, but this could very well be just guest character Zeger.

I wonder if this is the start of a new story line with a new love interest. If it is, we'll have to wait and see how Ferry's departure will influence the story.

Hmm, maybe. I wonder if they had been planning to give him a new love interest. Or more of a crisis of confidence perhaps. They might scrap the idea or use it for his exit storyline now.
