I also find the Ste/Amy story unpleasant, if realistic. Amy has been a bad, selfish mother from the time of her pregnancy to today. Ste seems to care more about Leah than she does, but he's very badly damaged and where he's at now is no place to repair him. I would like to see a storyline where he gets help and becomes a better person, but on a soap, we're more likely to see him continue to slide downward.
The current and upcoming story is likely to split Warren and Justin from each other from good. I agree about the chemistry they shared. Warren and Justin both tend to have strong sexual chemistry with their co-stars, so when they get together...it can be heavy.
I also think Warren and Calvin have some serious sexual chemistry, which is strange, given that the actors are close friends in real life. I've never liked any of Calvin's relationships, and I only liked Warren with Mercedes. I think Warren and Calvin would be a great story. Unlikely to ever happen, but great.
Carly Stenson was heartbreaking when Max left her in the restaurant. She's one of their best actresses, if not their best.
I wish they could clean house with some of their characters, but most of the characters I'd like to see go may be going anyway (Louise, Sarah). I'm waiting to see if they'll ever bring in any interesting new characters. Niall and Kieron could be, if they're kept around.
What do you think of Elliot's story?

Carl - I'm not following Elliot's story at the moment. I just realized that they gave him a snazzy new haircut (which makes him look fantastic) a couple of days ago, when I watched Ashley/Amy's backstage video.
What's going on with him?

Carl - Warren and Calvin? I totally agree about there being chemistry there, but "sexual" chemistry? Well.....*maybe*, if you're going for that whole "I hate you because I want throw you on the bed and shag you" thing. But mostly I thought Calvin's attititude was more along the lines of "I hate you and I want to throw you in front of a bus".
Max and OB were another couple who had great chemistry. It might just have been because they'd worked together for so long that they came as a pair, but I never believed that OB loved that singer chippy anywhere near as much as he loved Max. And what was her deal, anyway? She went from being loyal to her Army boyfriend to jumping in bed with Kris (with whom she had much more chemistry than OB) to falling in love with OB in the space of a week.

Carl - I'm not following Elliot's story at the moment. I just realized that they gave him a snazzy new haircut (which makes him look fantastic) a couple of days ago, when I watched Ashley/Amy's backstage video. What's going on with him? Elliot fell for Sarah, but then caught her in bed with his professor (Elliot was letting the professor use his bed as a place to sleep). Meanwhile, Lauren and Newt, to pay Elliot back for not helping them with their studies, got online and convinced Elliot they were his father who had returned from an alien spaceship. Elliot went to the woods, calling out for his father. Newt was very upset and he and Lauren left. Elliot stayed in the woods and got hypothermia. His mother visited him in the hospital and confessed that his father had never been kidnapped by aliens, she'd just let him believe that because he'd abandoned the family and wanted no contact with Elliot. This broke Elliot and he decided to stop being a geek. He's sold his comics and now wears what he sees as normal clothing (he dresses like Zak). That describes it. The way they were when they were fighting over Louise or when Warren was suspected of trying to kill Clare, they did seem to have that hate sex chemistry. The only time I've ever seen Calvin show sexual passion. Since they seem to have run out of stories for Warren, I wish they could explore his bisexual side. I agree about Summer and OB seeming rushed, but I did like her more with him than with Kris. I liked that she made OB feel special and important, and he also supported her.

I was watching some YT clips by da33431 just now to catch up on some of the other HO stuff and seeing the scene between Justin and Jake at the end of this clip made me realise how much Jake and Craig look alike when they're angry/upset. Btw. I think Kevin is doing a great job at playing psycho Jake.

Thanks. I didn't know he'd updated his videos. There's also a Kevin Sacre backstage video, isn't on Youtube yet though. I'll miss Jake. Or the Jake who existed before he went crazy and was saddled with nasty Nancy. Jake could be a jerk, but sometimes he could be supportive. He also had a good sense of humor. He also had that nice hairy chest. www.channel4.com/entertainment/tv/microsites/H/hollyoaks/gallery/previous/08/specials/kevinsacre/There have been rumors Roxanne McKee is leaving when her contract is up. I hope she does, because I have never cared for Louise, and the recent story is starting to turn that to strong hatred. Actually I could say that about 3 or 4 other women, but the show really wouldn't be able to survive with only a handful of female characters. Louise and Niall do have hot chemistry together. I can tolerate her if she has some romps with him. I still have no idea why Valerie or her children are on the show, even though I like Danny. I really wish they could give Darren a girlfriend and some happiness.

Thanks for the heads up! I hadn't seen the backstage video yet, but I'll check it out later... Me too! But only the old Jake; there are already enough weird people in HO as it is. They're completely distroying the Jake character, but somehow I can live with it. It has been building up slowly and now they can't go back anymore. At least it's a more challenging exit to act for Kevin than dying or getting in a taxi and driving away. I never liked Louise. Not that I followed her story from the beginning (I can only watch HO through YouTube and read the spoilers and so.) but what I did see of her didn't interest me that much. (Same goes for Lauren btw. ) Darren is an amazing character! Just like Kris...

From what I've read, and the bits I've seen, they never gave Darren anything to do for most of his years on the show. He was the jerk who stole his best friend's girlfriend (after his best friend had been raped, which makes it even worse...then he hung out with the rapist), who slept with Steph and then dumped her, who slept with Steph's sister Debbie, made a pass at Frankie, and had long dirty hair and gold chains.
Then last year they started writing him as a more complex person, with a heart. I loved him with Zoe and how she helped make him a better man. Then they had the gambling story and he lost everything. Now he's always the subject of abuse by other characters. I'm hoping we'll see him earn some respectability back, or at least someone who cares about him. I'd also like to see him get along better with Newt, since his scenes with Newt are the few times I can tolerate that character.
Louise has had so many personalities. She started as Darren's holiday girlfriend, then she became the cold, hateful college administrator, then we found out she had a sleazy ex husband and she got back together with him, then Warren, then Calvin...
The show has some real problems with female characters (Valerie, Amy, Sarah, Nancy, Lauren, Frankie, Louise, Tina), while they do have some dodgy men, but also have a lot of men who are sex on legs and who seem to have more chemistry with each other than with the opposite gender. They can't exactly have the men turn to each other though...
For female characters, I like Mercedes, Michaela, Myra, Suzanne, Steph, Jacqui, Sasha (sometimes), and Hannah.

I don't know if we're allowed to create a thread just for old clips, so I thought I'd use this thread to link to some Youtube clips of stories from previous years. Here you can find the late night special where Andy Hunter comes back from the dead and terrorizes the Owen siblings, Sam Owen's trial, and the death of baby Grace Hutchinson. youtube.com/profile_videos?p=r&user=hunnybunny15&page=1Here is quite a bit of the relationship between Justin and Becca, as well as the introduction of the Valentine family: youtube.com/profile_videos?user=ZiTehRileH&p=rHere you can see an episode from 2002 (Max's father and stepmother!), an episode from June 2005 (Craig's 17th), and several episodes from March 2006. youtube.com/profile_videos?user=iwasblinded&p=r

Ste cutting Amy's hair was so intense, almost too much to bear. Both of the actors were in tears. I was almost in tears too.
I wish they'd cut off the Hollyoaks theme which intruded on the final moments.

yeah, amy and ste is one of my favorite storylines at the moment (well, favorite sounds a bit inappropriate but you catch my drift... i think hollyoaks are working on a different musical theme to the series that they can use for the episodes which need a more serene ending. with the general depressing turn almost all of the storylines are taking (barnsey and michaela are often the only ones to provide some comical relief) they are going to need it...

I wish they had more comedy. Most of their comedy characters are in very heavy, depressing stories now. I'd love some more comedy or some romance. I think I'm almost at the point where I'd even take a comedy episode revolving around Leo Valentine.

Does anyone have more information about an older HO late night special, in which a male rape happened to one of the characters?

Does anyone have more information about an older HO late night special, in which a male rape happened to one of the characters? I know that the rape victim was played by Gary Lucy (who was on Footballers Wives' as Kyle S1-3). I think the character's name was Luke. I've been told there are some youtubes up of that storyline but I've never looked for them. You try wikipedia?

Veoh has some Hollyoaks episodes from the middle of September to late September 2007. This is Craig's departure, Hannah being sectioned, Clare's departure, up to the Fresher's Ball when Kris returns. Hopefully they'll have some more eventually, because I want to see Summer's arrival, Simon's arrival, the carbon monoxide, among other stories.

Carld2 - Thank you so much for the links and information on the Luke storyline. I had no idea that Gary Lucy, was in Hollyoaks.

Carld2 - Thank you so much for the links and information on the Luke storyline. I had no idea that Gary Lucy, was in Hollyoaks. Yeah he played Luke Morgan and the Morgan family were quite a mainstay for some time: Andy and Sue were the Mum and Dad and they had four kids: Adam, Bethan, Luke and Zara. Luke used to go out with Mandy (Max's stepsister and Tony's ex) and was a footballer and model. He used to get a bit of ribbing of the other footballers for being a model (therefore obviously gay), particularly a player on another team, Mark Gibbs. Luke had accidently injured Mark during a tackle in a previous game and Mark blamed Luke for ruining his chances of playing professionally. In a spin off late night special, Breaking Boundaries, Luke finally stood up to Mark leading to Mark and his cronies attacking Luke in the changing rooms after a match. Luke escaped and got to his car, but when he heard them crowing about what they had done to him, Luke saw red and went and slammed Mark's car door against his leg. This was followed by a car chase, leading to a show down on a patch of wasteland. Luke's car got caught in a pothole and he had no escape. To punish Luke for being a 'gay boy', Mark raped him. Luke's relationship with Mandy ended soon after because he couldn't bring himself to tell anyone what had happened and she thought he was cheating on her. Lukes's best mate Darren then made a move on Mandy, but they fizzled out as a couple. Later Mandy began dating fireman Ben Davies. Luke was still in love with Mandy, but was too ashamed to tell her the truth. When Luke finally got up the courage to tell people about the rape, his father, Andy, didn't believe him which caused ructions in the Morgan house. However his ex-girlfriend Mandy offered Luke her support after the abuse she suffered at the hands of her father (he used to abuse her when she was younger). Mark harassed Luke to drop the case and made out that no-one would believe him, but eventually the case went to court and Luke won. Luke then left for a new life. He did return briefly, though, and had a fling with Mandy when they realised they still had feelings for one another. However, Mandy was going out with Luke's brother Adam at the time.

The suddenness of Max's death got to me the most. I'm glad I knew in advance because otherwise I would have been devastated. I cared very deeply about Max, especially after what Clare did to him. I cared about his relationship with OB, his soulmate. Then when he found love with one of my favorite characters, Steph, and was one of the few people in her life to treat her with respect, to love her for who she is, it just sealed the deal.
He could be a jerk sometimes, but most of the time, he was an extremely kind, loving man, and those are in short supply on this show (or any show).
This was such a beautiful wedding, and the reception was full of family and friends and felt very real. His last scene with OB in the apartment was everything their friendship has always been about. The watch was such a nice moment for them.
This was the first episode that really got to me in some time. I don't even know how I'm going to get through the next one, when everyone finds out he's dead.
Kudos to Matt Littler for his 11 years of hard work. And to Darren Jeffries, Ellis Hollins, Barry Sloane, Carley Stenson, etc.

I think that was one of the best HO episodes ever!
The outing of Father Kieron was brilliantly done. Max's death was just heartbreakingly done without the need for bells & trumpets. The first time HO has brought a tear to my eye.

I actually gasped AND jumped, when Max was hit by Niall's car. I'm really glad that I was alone when that happened. Then, the tears came, when he was surrounded by his loved ones: OB, Tom and finally Steph. I think, we're definitely going to get more wonderful scenes between those three characters in the upcoming days. I can't wait to see them. The suddenness of Max's death got to me the most. I just saw the part with Max's death and that was sad. I teared up a bit, even though I knew it was coming. Well done and I think it only fitting that Max died in OB's arms. Their story was an enduring love story of two best friends and I will miss it.
